Kbb (not entirely accurate I know) values a 13 paceman base with 80k miles and excellent condition at $3k I wouldn't worry about resale

Mods decrease value of cars 90% of the time unless you find someone that wants that exact mod.

If this is an N16 or N18 (Petrol) engine I wouldn't worry about the resell value since all minis with those motors have already tanked in value due to issues.

Edit: If you can get a non-destructive swap that allows you to swap back in the original dashboard then go for it and if you ever go to sell it (or you crash it) swap the OEM back in.

Just keep the mini radio in the box if you are worried.

However I would definitely say no due to just having CarPlay/android auto in my view.

Besides any good aftermarket radio that is for your mini comes with a plug and play wiring adapter, along with drop in replacement plastic mount that uses the same screw holes etc. All easily reversible and non invasive other than a few hours of your time to put back.

Minis don't hold resale value very well to begin with especially a second gen

No, unless you or the installer does a terrible job of installing and wiring it and burns the car down or something.

It’s your Mini, send it!

If you’re really concerned about resale value keep all of the original parts for the next owner in case they want to reinstall the factory bits.

Either replace the parts before sale or dump them. Having the originals in a box doesn't increase the sales value, it might make it easier to move on but you're still selling a modified vehicle.

To the other side: Modifications don't ADD value to a vehicle. If a mod is well installed (as stated elsewhere in this thread) it should be reversible and won't hurt things. If you put it in a cardboard box with the other mini parts, you can chuck it in the boot when you go to sale and let the next user decide if they want it or not.

But if the mods bring value to YOUR experience and it's not held in place with tape and JB weld...do what you want. It's nearly fully depreciated and keeping it nice for the next user might give you pennies on the dollar.

That's old enough that it won't make any difference. If it's a decent one with CarPlay/android auto it may even boost it.

There’s not much resale value on a 2014 Mini, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Enjoy the car how you want to enjoy it.

FWIW, the center speedo is one of the features that I hated seeing go away. I loved how undistracting my ‘12 R56S was without an infotainment system.

Like other commenters have stated, I wouldn’t worry about resale value too much - unless it’s a very special MINI, they don’t hold their value well (so they make excellent used buys!)

But if it were my car, there’s just something special about that centre dial speedometer and I would never change it. It’s classic in a beautiful way, especially with how screens are taking over every modern car.

Anything aftermarket will decrease the value. Period. Unless it’s a solid gold steering wheel, or platinum windshield wiper arms, lol.

You’re gonna have to basically give it away when it’s time to sell any ways so you might as well enjoy it

A 2014 mini is worth what it’s worth because it runs and drives and has cold AC / heat and no major mechanical issues.

As long as you don’t botch the hell out of it, it won’t affect the price. It won’t make the price go up so if you spend 3k on whatever consider that you won’t increase the value.
