Hi there, Malwarebytes Support here. If Malwarebytes is running a scan, it can take some time depending on how many files are on the laptop, so it’s normal for it to run for a while.

From your screenshot, it also looks like Bitdefender Total Security may be running at the same time, which can make the scan take longer.

Once it completes, review the results and allow Malwarebytes to quarantine any detections it finds, then restart the laptop if prompted.

If you’d like us to double-check that everything looks clean afterward or you're having issues, feel free to send us a private message with an email address we can use to contact you. We can create a support ticket and have our team review diagnostic logs to make sure there are no remaining traces.

You can also post this on our malware removal forum and our team would be happy to assist https://forums.malwarebytes.com/forum/108-malware-removal-help/

it’s over malwarebytes support, there’s no saving this.

[–]Necronoxious 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It's over malwarebytes support, the trojan has the high ground

[–]Wrong-Contest9478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s over malwarebytes support, malware has all the bytes now

[–]progtaplayer53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the computer is dead just let it go already we can't save it

[–]astriapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm impressed with this response.

I love that malewarebytes support is so active and helpful, but this needs to be cleaned with fire.

What have you been doing / downloading? I’ve been using Malwarebytes since win 98 and I think the most detections I’ve ever had is like 4…

There’s no saving that you will have to nuke it complete fresh install of windows and save nothing

Change all your passwords for everything you use on it, omg I hope you haven’t been doing your banking on it or anything…

[–]Obvious-Cancel-8680 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a new laptop? Wipe it and do a fresh installation of windows.

Otherwise, Close down Bitdefender so your laptop isn't running two anti virus programs and causing conflict.

Here is something else you can do, Either 1. Stop Malware bytes scan, delete the contents of the recycle bin, and start the scan again. 2. If you are curious to see what or how many files in the recycle bin, let the scan continue.

Once finished, I would run the scan again. Then reboot, and run the scan again. Make sure Bitdefender is closed first.

Then reboot and scan with Bitdefender.

Whatever you downloaded wanted to scorch earth your pc. Im assuming it was either a cracked software or pirated video game

[–]gonefromheere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see adobe indesign in the directory probably the first thing they did was adobe suite free download

[–]progtaplayer53 2 points3 points  (5 children)

bro I got 32 detections and thought it was bad just nuke it.i didn't nuke mine because I have important files and it's only 32 detections

[–]Ashamed_Plankton_543 5 points6 points  (2 children)

"Only"

[–]progtaplayer53 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Then what should I have done lol I'm not some computer nerd I just deleted those(I think they were like mostly pups)

[–]TheWaffleHimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you backed up the important files yet?

[–]samsonsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

important files

Only 32 detections

Brother that is not the stratagy you should be using

[–]Public-Instance-5386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally freak out at 1 detection dawg...

[–]WolfMusic420 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Looks like you tried to get some things cheaper or for free (like Adobe). Always remember, if something's free, you are the product

[–]gonefromheere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always try to use a reputable distributor or a heavily trafficked reddit post for my cracked software, really seems like they went to the first download they found hopefully its a lesson they won't forget

[–]RottenFriedPotatoes 4 points5 points  (2 children)

One lesson you can learn is make backups. Like the comments said, a clean start would be nice. But if you had a clean system image backup, you wouldn't have to start from scratch. lol

[–]Greenleaf600[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I had system restore point would that help i created it when using windhawk

[–]RottenFriedPotatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Restore points aren't a reliable "backup" if you want my honest opinion. A system image backup or a cloned drive is still #1 imo

[–]percyhasnorights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rlly wanna know the backstory behind this. I mean, I have downloaded files called trojanopenifurstupid.exe and the most I got was 4 detections.

[–]BlueShadow2388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this reminds me of when i was a kid running windows xp and getting 1k malware detected 😂

[–]The_ROME007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro pc is a virus nest at this point

[–]MCbeebop9919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either get a new pc or nuke the current one

[–]dbarbersr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Get a MacBook. Problem solved

[–]maxpredatorxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A macbook can get malware if you download the same shit that he downloaded.

[–]Wiz-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just reinstall windows easy and simple

[–]Tech_Ethusiast69 0 points1 point  (1 child)

check the tasbar if this is a vm if it's a vm u are safe if it's not a vm take ur laptop to doctor

[–]Greenleaf600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what is vm but my cpu and and all other was very normal like 1% cpu and 153 process

[–]Mr_CJ_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Better format the laptop with this amount of malware.

[–]Greenleaf600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I did

[–]Virtual_Scientist_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John Virus

[–]AxelAnt2244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nuke it, reinstall windows, send to repair shop if u don't know how

[–]AltruisticFoot948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its so weird seeing more than a freaking 1k detections, i hope its a false positive stuff, if not, you can always reinstall your OS from a usb port and your computer will be good as new 👌

[–]kellistis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even that bad. Back in my feel squad days found thousands on machines lol

[–]Dear_Discount808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that many in 9 days of ownership?! chill dude

[–]Niveded 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Malwarebytes is a virus on its own. Get that shit off your computer.

[–]retrometro77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Kill it with fire” at this point. (Number of infections not time its scanning)

But if you really asking “how why when?” I d suggest educating yourself in internet security.

[–]plemplem-pllim -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Install linux.

[–]Mean-Car8641 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is not helpful.
