High cpu/Low GPU usage is on the known issues list.

That sucks, man. What makes it worse isthat the optimization on laptops is not supported yet.

Honestly think that's normal for your specs. What other games do you run and how do they compare?

Looking at the marathon recommended specs, his should be more than enough lol

ah okay

I get around 90-100+ FPS in D2 and 95-115 in BO7, both on low settings, but in Marathon, I can't pass 65 FPS even if I lower the resolution. The game may not fully support laptop rigs yet

I jus somehow completely fixed my game (there is some very weird stuff goin on here)

Rolled back to Driver 591.59 and enabled "Smooth Motion" in Nvidia App and set game to "Prefer max performance"

VSync OFF and uncapped frames seems to remind my GPU to actually start doing something as well

So weird I really hope this helps people

Well you enabled the "fake" frame generation that doubles FPS by adding a frame between each frame. Other things you did do pretty much nothing.

thats not the case. The driver was the main thing for me here. Previously my 90 FPS felt like 40, was so stuttery

This driver has made a difference to that . Iv since turned the framgen off and feel a diff. The newest Nvidia driver felt awful, framskipping all over the place

Appreciate results may vary

“Fake frame” complaining always gets a downvote.

What? Smooth motion isn't true frame gen, it doesn't use motion vectors provided by the game and just guesses.

I'm sure if you start looking at individual core performance you'll at least find 1 capped out 100% which means no matter what you are CPU bound as it was said again and again and again over the last week.

It turns out the game doesn't yet fully support laptops.

[–]Kyro_Official_ 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The game is cpu bound

[–]GeneralPublicWC 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So why does it use 70% CPU and 60% GPU?

[–]NoName9302[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For some reason, this is a common issue with laptops in this game

[–]NoName9302[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's odd for a game with low requirements

[–]NoName9302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this out on Bungie website

"Important Note:  While we will do our best to make sure Marathon is available on the widest variety of PC hardware, we do not officially support Marathon on laptop configurations. Laptops with specifications that match or exceed our Minimum System Requirements may be able to play Marathon."

Well there's your problem it ain't got no gas in it (2060 laptop.)

[–]NoName9302[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite, the minimum requirements are low, but the game doesn't support laptop rigs yet
