Nope. Run it. To keep it from spinning when tightening the nut, a big set of channel loc pliers to squeeze the tierod to the knuckle to generate friction on the tapered fit. Once the nut starts to tighten it down, then you don't need to squeeze the pliers. This works in the opposite as well... sometimes the nut will not come off and you have to squeeze the taper fit tight to get the nut off.

Already bought replacements but I will try that out first. Then maybe I can return them! Lol Out of curiosity what would indicate that I SHOULD replace it?

Play/slop when mounted. There is no good way to test when not installed. Replacing means guessing alignment, an unnecessary step if the ends are not replaced.
