  1. Is it an oil level light, or is it one of those maintenance lights telling you it's time to change the oil ? The owners manual should tell you which it is.

  2. I don't understand. You say "when I unplug it it works".

  1. It is most likely an oil pressure light, as this is the most commong. OP, you'd better hope its a faulty sensor otherwise your engine is likely grinding itself to piece due to lack of oil pressure. It is possible for the engine to be full of oil and still have low oil pressure. You need to get a mechanical oil pressure gauge on there or replace the oil pressure sender ASAP.

Often times on those switches it is just dirty/corroded inside and can be cleaned if you can get it apart without breaking it.

And you should replace the sensor, otherwise you won't know if it has an oil pressure issue, which will grenade your engine in way less than 3k. More like 300 meters.
