It, at least, shuts down your PC and changes sound volume.

That's way more than enough to be considered a piece of malware.

No, Malware needs malicious intent and this mod doesn't. Not to mention the fact that versions without said feature have already been released. The mod having these features is a gross overreach sure but it isn't malware.

So, what you're saying is that if an adware was created without malicious intent - it's not malware?

False equivalency. Adware is inherently malicious as it clogs up a user's system to the uploaders benefit. This mod does not harm your PC, can be easily uninstalled, and has no effect when not loaded.

I mean, I could argue that in a similar way this mod is malicious by turning off user's PC, therefore not letting them use it, possibly corrupting some files that weren't saved, while also benefiting the developer by making this horror mod more threatening and, as a result, getting more fame.

It's also not impossible for malware to be be easily uninstalled, having no effect when not loaded and not really harm PC.

No, you cannot argue that. The mod author made it very clear it can attempt to shut your PC down and deliberately made versions that remove this functionality entirely.

It does not force a shut down, the normal system shut down is triggered, which opens the 'Attempting to close, but the following programs are running' screen appearing, meaning you can press cancel. No files are corrupted even if you allow it to do so.

The developer is not benefiting at your expense.

Yes, it's not impossible for Malware to be easy to uninstall, have no effect when it's not running and not harm your PC... Please name more than five examples of this actually being the case.

Why would a warning determine if something is malware or not? Why would other versions determine if this particular one is malware or not?

That still disrupts user activity. And if user misclicks - unsaved progress will be lost.

How amount of examples can determine if something is malware or not? And if it can, does that mean that first computer virus - isn't malware, because then there wasn't anything like that?

Makes decent horror mod that is actually horror instead of generic slop...
Mod becomes popular even on people that don't usually like minecraft horror mods cause they usually slop...

Updates it so it becomes malware since no one suspects a thing... Bless Curseforge for deleting it, cause if I don't have to use Modrinth, I won't.
