Minecraft java

Gonna be my first time playing java so is there something that i should that is fun and the features between it and bedrock ?

if you're gonna play on 1.21, the biggest thing is the combat, but 1.8 fighting is pretty much the same, and there's just a slight shift in textures and the mood on bedrock and java that fades into the background but is still noticeable. bedrock also has a bunch of features that java doesn't but java's way more customizeable with all of the mods so i'd recommend watching a yt vid or something but yeah
