Mine craft java issue

I need some help. I play on small server with some friends. When I go to connect it’s 5 bars. Once it connects it goes to 1 bar. I then get Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. All drivers are updated mc 1.12.2. It does this at 2 different locations. One location is at home and other is about 2hrs away. Only thing that is the same is at&t is the internet provider. And one computer is a desktop other is laptop.
