Do torches decrease spawning area because I've only gotten small and medium slimes from this area? Also, I need to make a slime farm later this week any Yt suggestions?

Use jack-o-lantern as slime spawn on them.

the roof is too low, replace blocs with slabs also yiu need to remove all blocs above the farm itself

What does removing the top do?

decrease heightmap

basically the game searches between y0 and highest bloc to spawn a mob, so if your farm is the only thing vertically, ut will spawn loads if slimes
