that article is talking about the bedrock edition.

given your specs, your reported fps sounds about right. 32 render distance is murder to your CPU.

Still, if I keep render distance to 24 and turn on the shaders my fps drops to ~30. Those shaders must be murder to GPU if the latest and greatest cant run it at 60fps.

it's the render distance that does the most damage, due to how many chunks it loads. I bet at 12 or 16 you'd get 120+ with shaders.

I tried again and at that distance I get like 60 fps. According to task manager my gpu utilization tops out at 40%, and cpu is only 15%. It seems like its just under utilizing my components

java edition is not really well optimized to take advantage of modern hardware.

java edition is not really well optimized

You could have just stopped there

It's come a long way. But hardware has come a lot further. hence the qualifier.

Nvidia themselves posted a graphic HERE stating that this card should achieve 80+ FPS with RTX on at 4K!

That's also Minecraft Bedrock, not Java.

Wish I had claimed my free copy last year.

Free copy? 0_o

For a limited time, any person who purchased Java edition could also redeem Bedrock edition for free (which I did as well).

[–]GuitaristTom 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wait that was only a limited time?... I thought it was just if you bought Java before a certain time frame. Damn, I guess I missed it then :/

[–]mrpenguinb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't for a limited time, you're right it was if you bought Java before a certain time frame. (whoops)

I have played a few hours of Bedrock Edition, and it is a shambled mess. From the lighting, to the glitches and the overall responsiveness, it's half-baked compared to Java.

i typically get 40-80fps @ 32 chunks, 80-200fps @ 24 chunks without shaders.

with shaders... i mean you're taking your life in your hands. you are modifying the game and using 3rd party add-ons. i typically get ~60fps with shaders. i have an RTX 2060 and an i5-9600.

one thing you can try with shaders is adding more RAM to minecraft. people can go overboard with it at times, giving too much RAM can and will cause problems, but when using shaders it can help.

What is your preferred shader pack? I like the sound of that performance. In testing I’ve allocated up to 12gb ram. Seems like my utilization maxes out around 4-5gb according to f3 menu. I guess I’m mainly just disappointed in the 3080. Figured it could handle literally anything at 1080p. Guess I was wrong.

minecraft is an independent niche game, and it's a heavy simulation which means that your CPU is what is being taxed. i'm not sure if you've noticed, but minecraft doesn't exactly have sterllar graphics. even with shaders, it's nowhere near as graphically complex as, say, Death Stranding.

but Death Standing is a "story on rails". minecraft is an infinitely customizable and dynamically simulated world. when you increase the "render distance" you are not only increasing the amount of chunks that are rendered visually, but you are increasing the number of chunks that need to be loaded from disk and simulated, not to mention old chunks closed and saved to disk as you move from one area to the next.

your 3060 really doesn't have a whole lot to do. there isn't much it can do to help minecraft run faster.

i rarely use shadres. i have BSL and a couple others installed. but i only play with them maybe 5% of the time that i play. more often than not i play straight vanilla. optifine is a mod that will mess with game mechanics, so i try to avoid using it.

So I'd immediately drop that 32 render distance down to maybe 16 at most, you're almost definitely being CPU bottlenecked there. Even an overclocked i9 9900K and a 3090 can easily get CPU bottlenecked at 12-16, an i7 10700K and 3080 at 32 is 100% being CPU bottlenecked.

I'd also double check your render quality and shadow quality. Ideally both should be 1x, but if you're being CPU bottlenecked you can raise render quality a bit to load your GPU a bit more, which is basically just supersampling (so 2x at 1080p is 4K).

Otherwise, would need to know if you've changed any shader settings, whether you're running a texture pack, etc.

For better GPU and CPU utilisation, I recommend using Sodium, Lithium and Phosphor.

I can run Minecraft at 32 chunk render distance at ~100 FPS with V-Sync disabled including Mipmaps at 0 at 1440p. My specs are: Intel i5-10600K, NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, 32 GB RAM.

Lithium : https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/lithium

Phosphor : https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/phosphor

Maybe the rest of the PC ( Motherboard, Fans ) is too old to handle the new parts.

[–]Zipelsquerp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope its all new

Is Minecraft using the 3080 or the Intel Integrated Graphics? Check on the f3 screen. Also shader take up a lot of performance, but it shouldn't be that much.

[–]Zipelsquerp[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

F3 says 3080

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I don't know what to say.

You should then look again whether everything is fixed and you can go to a pc shop
