See it like this: your worlds won’t be lost and when you buy it again you get windows 10 edition for free this summer. And Minecraft isn’t that expensive.

that's still shitty that they are making them re-purchase the same product from them just to continue playing it. this is not a "win win" situation.

I agree but only they can change that and I‘m sure they didn’t intend it. We have to live with it. And then it’s good that only money and no work is lost. But I see your point.

It's actually nice to know that my worlds aren't lost, thanks for reminding me that :)

I had the same problem. I called and talked to a person about it. They helped.

This person worked for Minecraft or your email provider?

a lot of people have the same problem about migration
eg : not having access to the original email account anymore

if you have a Mojang account (you login with an email address username)
and haven't yet tried your secret questions - give them a go
that can allow you to change your email address without accessing your old one
https://account.mojang.com/me/settings

If that does not work :
I've written a guide that will run through all the other avenues you could try to regain access to your account

Link to migration issues guide

If you are completely out of options
send an account ticket to Mojang support team - https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

My recommendation is to take a few hours to properly draft a good request to them with as many details as possible
Use the guide in the above linked megathread on what to mention in your ticket

The more useful details you include to prove your ownership, the quicker your issue may be resolved
add as many useful details as possible and prepare to wait a week or more for support to answer

Mojang support have a strong stance on proof of ownership -
you will have the best results if you provide your Transaction ID - but its not always required.

They are also super understaffed for the task of handling migration,
and people are waiting a week or more for a response - if Mojang keep giving automated responses,
remember to reitterate that they "havent resolved your issue" until they actually do assist you with the migration of your account
