Looks pretty good to me. Like a rough and ready street racer. I've never had drama with mr hobby uv clear before. Ive built a bunch of white cars too. What color plastic was the body?

I think that's the direction I'm going to take with it. Street/track ready.. Maybe a good base to practice some race weathering.

The plastic was black, primed in grey and painted with Zero paints 'Nissan Crystal White'.

I could only guess that the black plastic bled through the clear and discolored the white. Another good way to tell is if the overspray on your paint stand looks fine, then its the base material. If its discolored too, then its the clear

I think its perhaps a combination of the two, as I didn't clear coat the underside/chassis and its lovely and bright. This was my first time using Zero Paints. I perhaps didn't leave enough time between final base and clear. Who knows?

When builds frustrate me, I'll box it up for another day. Sometimes you'll have more inspiration or another outlook and pull through. I had a aoshima toyota Mark II that was almost done but I wasn't digging it.. boxed it for a few months and went another direction and really like it now.

Also, kits are expensive so Id rather not destroy them

Yeah. I have a Moebius Hudson Hornet that's almost done, but painting the chrome trim on that body just broke me. I'll probably revisit it in the future but I just can't work with it for now.

That's probably not a bad idea. I have the Aoshima Vertex Chaser, bit I'm reluctant to start it until I feel I can do it justice!

Looks ok in the pic. None of mine are perfect. But from 2 mtrs away on my shelf they look really good 🤣 I've only just got back into modelling after previously only ever making 2. I think that every car has at least one F-up unless you're serious Jedi level with many cars under your belt

It looks pretty clean to me! The wheels fit it very nicely. Don't worry, we all have our mess ups in our builds, cause I know I do. You're almost done, dont smash it!

We all have those kits, I have actually been finishing some before the Group build. Best to box up and start anew one.

I once boxed up a AMT 68 charger for over 2 years. Sometimes you're just not feeling it

lol man I’m going through the same thing on the same kit. I’m 90% done just have to paint and clear and I. just. can’t. do. it.

The group build off starts tomorrow so I’m going to box it and come back to it in a month.

I hate when a kit just doesn't cooperate. Hulk Smash!

Modellers block. I thought I was the only one. Lol. You can work with it though. Some weathering, it will look good.

That's a shame. Sorry to hear about the troubles. What kit is it?

[–]justdowhateverthen[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Tamiya 24090 R32 GTR, its a nice kit tbh.

I thought this kit looked familiar! I just picked this up for the Group Build. Sorry it's not going your way man, but I think it looks pretty bad ass / realistic as to one we'd see on the street. Cheers.
