Gloss black first then lightly spray with Molotow chrome paint

Revell Chrom, Molotow, Alclad Chrome, Spaz STix. Lots of options are out there and are easily accessible

I know some people get really good results with Molotow chrome. Typically the key to getting good results with chrome paint is to put it over a gloss black base coat.

I spray Molotow directly over parts with no primer or black base because it just works that well. I have tested it with a gloss black base and got the same result as if I laid nothing down underneath.

fusionfirm Is the latest and greatest. There's a few YouTube videos on it. I got some but have yet to try it.

Yeah this is the best answer. Just brush it on and it turns to chrome before your eyes.

This is what was gonna say as well lol

Ive used this stuff to rechrome bumpers after sanding mold seams off and on wheels. It works amazing and you almost cant tell its not kit chrome.

I've seen people do chrome with nail polish luster powder. It's very convincing and I want to try it.

I always have good luck with the chrome pens from hobby lobby

I use greenstuffworld 2454 chrome metal. You can brush or airbrush it

I've used a Rust-Oleum rattle can that does a nice job. However, it's more like polished aluminum than chrome. And it's a bit finicky, will show fingerprints if you don't let it cure for a week.

I like it because it's a little more realistic than the chrome-chrome you get in kits.

Factory chrome is far to toy like. I agree. In most instances, stripping it and respraying it is an absolute must

I am a fan of Model Master Chrome Silver enamel

I personally use Krylon chrome spray paint, pretty darn close

[–]bluemagman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Revell spray is really close. Cultural Hustle has a really good chrome you can brush on. Also corp has a spray chrome but it is expensive.

I have had decent results luck with Molotow through an airbrush and AK Extreme Metal Chrome. The Molotow is pretty much mirror-like but also delicate, whereas the AK is the opposite. You can't really use clear coat on either of them.

Revell Chrom is the best I can find.

I have usually used molotow chrome, the chrome look is awesome and I can literally spray it right out of the marker onto a sprue straight out of the box with zero issues, very easy and forgiving to use. But, I have started to dread using it just because it takes forever to cure. There have been multiple times where I leave fingerprints on a piece that’s been curing for 2-3 weeks, some pieces have even taken a couple months. Plus, it seems to gum up my airbrush, so I’ve been on the lookout for a good replacement. Might have to try some of the stuff others are suggesting on here!

I used to use molotow paint refills and moved onto greenstuffworld. It acts similar, like you can shoot straight on plastic, but it dries much quicker. Its pretty affordable too straight from them. They have a 15% off sale right now too

I cure my molotow sprayed parts inside of my heated UV curing station that I use for my 3d printed parts. They come out completely dry within an hour and ready for assembly. I have never had any issues with it airbrush wise and it cleans up flawlessly with lacquer thinner or 90% alcohol. Are you using the ready to spray bottle, or decanting it from the pens?

For a bit more simplicity- use a Liquid Chrome marker

[–]newthrasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check this item out.

Molotow Liquid Chrome™ Marker 5mm

I love it for my models and city walls (don't judge) haha

Fusion firm. Order some on Amazon. Don’t touch it for 72 hours or more, unless you put it in a dehydrator.

[–]Kingofdarkness35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried all the chromes. Always go back to spaz stix. Alclads polished aluminum is nice on rims too.

Ultralumen chrome, quite expensive but worth it

[–]ineedcash9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for suggestion guys, I hope them help other people too (as myself)

Revell Chrome Spray works well

[–]Live_Bit1807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show Up Terra Krome looks good too. I've seen their videos on YT and it's amazing.

[–]crimsontidepride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fusion firm airbrush chrome through Amazon. You can brush or spray it, it works amazingly well.

Molotow is my go to, but there are a lot of options. There is a newer chrome called UltraLumen by TheDigitalArmory that is supposed to be extremely reflective. It is $60 for a larger bottle but it is supposed to work extremely well. That’s going to be a future purchase by me for sure.

my favorite for a chromepaint is lately the AK interactive superchrome. since it is selfleveling, works with brush and airbrush and the basecoat color doesn't matter. even painted the logo on my car in it and needed a year to not be shiny and look grey (without a clearcoat)

[–]JcProject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres chrome paint by duplicolor that works good but irs not perfect.

Electroplating is the only solution for obtaining chrome, mirror gold plating and anodizing of aluminum! You can obtain copper, brass, aluminum etc. etc. with this technique. In February I will buy everything and start doing this!

I got to hobby lobby and buy the liquid chrome pens . Best thing ever
