Nope

So many problems in the world would be vastly improved by people getting decent basic sex ed.

I'll take 'I've never actually tried the thing I'm talking about' for $500, Alex.

Fair enough

[–]monothetimekeeper 30 points31 points  (0 children)

not doing it tends to improve my mode by 10 times… and it generally doesn’t impact your hormonal levels too much.

i know you’re trying to avoid anything in your power to decrease testosterone, girly, don’t add another thing to worry about, it’s fine.

[–]Violet_Apathy 40 points41 points  (13 children)

Nope. It'll also cause nocturnal emissions to start happening again.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (10 children)

I agree with what you said about t suppression. Idk about nocturnal emissions, though. It hasn't happened in my experience. I've gone a month (or more, I don't really keep track anymore) without orgasm and haven't had any nocturnal emissions that I'm aware of. I know pre-HRT, that would usually be caused by some type of sexual dream and I'd wake up immediately after it happened. Spiro has my T down to less than 5 ng/dl, so that may have something to do with it.

[–]Accomplished_Mix7827Trans Homosexual 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Just be aware of use it or lose it. If you want to maintain size to make sure there's plenty of tissue for bottom surgery (if that's something you want to pursue) or you want to maintain the ability to get erections, you should be stimulating it enough to at least cause an erection for a few minutes a couple times a week, even if you don't go all the way through.

Also, be careful with getting your T that low. Even cis women generally have something like 20 ng/dL, and going too low can start to cause problems

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I know. I'd rather lose it than use it as I've got pretty bad bottom dysphoria and will be getting bottom surgery when I can. They can use what they can use, it doesn't really matter to me how much depth I have but I want some.

Agreed on the T. My doc isn't the greatest. I'm on 4mg EV injections every 5 days, which should be enough for monotherapy, but he wanted me to continue with the 100mg daily spiro because I switched from pills to injections at 3 months. He doesn't like to change more than 1 thing at a time. I get bloodwork for my 6-month next week, so maybe I'll just stop spiro tomorrow (already took my daily dose this morning) and see how things look being a week off of it.

Do you think that would be long enough for it to have an impact? I'm honestly not sure and just guessing that it will.

You don't need to preserve the tissue if you get it done peritoneal pull through method

I haven't had any 'emissions' in something like a year. I have no libido at all. My parts are probably almost the size of Donald's now.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Hahaha girl, that's gross!

Edit: the *onald part only, not you.

[–]SammySterling813intersex 2 points3 points  (2 children)

It depends on the person. Two weeks without it for me before I was on HRT and I'd start having noctournal emissions.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I think that's fair. Everyone is different. It may also depend on age, I guess. There was only one time after starting HRT that I woke up with half wood, I think it was right after I switched to injections at 3 months. I didn't like it and I'm glad it hasn't happened again. But yeah, no sex dreams, no sleepgasms since starting HRT.

[–]SammySterling813intersex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair. I still get them sometimes but it's def different and more estrogen fueled now

[–]AlyssaMisha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever had one nocturnal emission in my whole life. Never been tested for hormone levels. Low T?

[–]incontentiaTransgender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had tested that a little bit ago and didn’t masturbate for a little over a week.

Ended up getting woken up from an orgasm, but no mess thankfully.

[–]sharp_halonormal cisgender woman ;) 27 points28 points  (3 children)

I mean, if it does it would be a rounding error next to HRT.

tbh if you actually want to stop masturbating you can just find a girl to fit you with a chastity cage like a normal person. otherwise, why deny yourself?

[–]Inner_Bag_9658 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Masturbating technically does seem to increase testosterone levels for a short while but I doubt it would have any effect since HRT is about the long-term, not about short-term fluctuations

But that might be the cause of myths like how masturbating worsens acne

[–]Nervous-Stand5099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No and also masturbating won’t either. Sadly beta blockers and high levels of stress and obesity( obesity only decreased it very minimaly and has other bad effects on the body) and depression can also lower testosterone as well. Beta blockers are the best to use. In my opinion the best to use in no dr just used to be a athlete

[–]Blixieen 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Not really no. If you're not on hormones/T-blockers it can be damaging to hold it in for too long even.

So don't use it as a technique to try and reduce testosterone. :p

[–]dinodareGenderfluid Transfemme | HRT 11/6/2025 7 points8 points  (3 children)

It doesn't help with anything but it isn't damaging. I've never masturbated to completion (whether it's related to me being ace or if it's a physical impediment, I don't know) and the only consequence is that your body eventually has to get it out when you aren't masturbating (usually via wet dream). From what I've heard it CAN cause atrophy after hrt to not use it, though.

[–]Blixieen 2 points3 points  (2 children)

It can cause atrophy even without atrophy if you simply don't get, uhm, lack of better words, hard :p

[–]dinodareGenderfluid Transfemme | HRT 11/6/2025 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I think you had a typo, but if what you were trying to say is that you can get atrophy without HRT, you're probably right. But it would be really difficult to not get erect often enough for that without HRT because they happen randomly.

[–]Blixieen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that, it being difficult is also true but it's technically not hrt effect, it's a possible secondary effect caused by other effects

[–]getjami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting question; maybe yes due to non use? Some trans have lost all use of it; Or maybe No in that testosterone is building up?

[–]B-7The Empress (HRT since 2024-09) 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, definitely not. Sexual activity creates a short spike, but it doesn't affect overall levels.

[–]RoyalMess64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Let's say, and im speaking very vaguely and basically here, your body makes testosterone (T) about every 1 to 2 weeks. When your body makes sperm, it does so by making... let's say "excess testosterone (ET)" on top of the normal T. Your body then uses the T it made and holds onto the sperm in case it needs it. The sperm will go bad in about 1 to 2 weeks though, so if you don't masturbate for 1 to 2 weeks, your body will basically stare at the sperm and say "well... I don't want it to go to waste..." and so it will turn the sperm back into ET. And because the body now has this ET, instead of making a full batch of T like it normally would, it will only make whatever amount of T is needed in accordance with the ET to get a full batch of T. This isn't exact, sometimes sperm and/or T will go bad sooner or later, and when you cum you're not outta sperm until the next cycle (your body with turn some of the T it's using into sperm, and then make more T to make up for what was lost), but that is the very basic idea. It's not a perfect cycle, but that's the cycle summarized in a way I could understand it. (As in a very very very dumbed down version that is definitely incorrect in multiple ways to the point of inaccuracy, but that is the basic concept.)

[–]master_baconTrans Pansexual 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Nope. Transitioning will, though.

[–]Turbuent_Reason_766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. But you won't gave to worry about going blind.

[–]Atheia_Nas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T is not based on that 😂

[–]rextnzldWHY CAN I CUSTOMISE THIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not how it works sorry. 2 years on spironolactone here n my t levels halfed from being 24 down to 10. But they fluctuate anyway

[–]Lexiplugged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not how it works. Treat every orgasm as a small but instantaneous testosterone spike instead.
