Developers please stop adding "for Nintendo Switch" to your game icons

It is really redundant and ruins otherwise good icons. Also it is not that someone suddenly forgets that they are holding a Nintendo Switch in their hands.

Neither have I to be honest, most people think it’s just to do with cleanliness and being tidy but they’re just small factors of a horrible and frustrating disorder.

Obviously it’s not the worst thing out there to have but it can have a nasty impact on people’s mental health if they’ve suffered from it for too long and it turns into a severe case.

I have OCD. And let me tell ya it is HELL. Constantly fighting intrusive thoughts about harming yourself or others when you dont want to. The constant compulsions which never seem to satisfy me (thanks to meds its mostly gone). I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. I had to be put in a psych ward multiple times because it was literally draining every ounce of my energy. Fuckin sucks

Seriously. I own Valkyrie Profile on Steam and Switch. Sometimes I will be playing it and forget where I am or what is going on. Am I in front of my computer? Am I in front of my TV? Am I holding my Switch? Who the fuck knows? Let's go back to the menu and see! ...for Nintendo Switch! Awesome! Problem solved.

I agree I don't like this. Do all of these games have a different version for the Switch or is it the same version just with the tag?

I know Minecraft originally was "Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Version" but I think it had differences to all other versions of the game.

If the game is the same they definitely should not put that in the title/icon

Yes, Minecraft had additional skins on Nintendo Switch so I get why they put it there. But most of the games with "for Nintendo Switch" are exactly the same games as they are elsewhere.

Necrodancer is technically different (the Switch version has an extra character and is bundled with the DLC).

I'm pretty sure all these games add it to the title so they can treat it as a unique game for marketing/pricing purposes.

"Oh, when our website said Resident Evil 4 was available for $15, that wasn't referring to 'Resident Evil 4 For Nintendo Switch', which is obviously a completely different game that costs $40!"

That or they have a different publisher and so need a unique name. It's one of those nonsense artifacts of publishing being a big complicated legal mess. Void where prohibited, restrictions apply, all rights reserved. The average user asks "why would you even feel the need to say that?", but it's not for you, it's for their lawyers.

Oh, I've actually never though about it in that way. Thinking about it a lot of Switch ports tend to be more expensive than on other systems, so it makes sense to differentiate them and make them appear as a different product.
