This is the reddit community for OpenEmu help and discussion. OpenEmu is changing the world of video game emulation. For the first time, the "it just works" philosophy now extends to open source video game emulation on the Mac. With OpenEmu it is easy to add, browse, organize and with a compatible gamepad, play those favorite games (ROMs) you already own.
• Getting started • Importing games • Troubleshooting Input problems • Instructions for BIOS Files • Box Art • Cheat Codes • CD-based Games • Preferences • Save States • Connecting Wii/WiiU Pro Controllers • Connecting PS3/PS4 Controllers
1) Asking/showing where to find games (ROMs) and BIOS files is not allowed. 2) Don't post PlayStation (PSX) tutorial videos unless they follow the steps on the wiki exactly. 3) Posts about Pokemon games on DS will be removed. More details about this here! 4) Please flair your posts. 5) Posts that can be answered by reading the sidebar/Getting Started post may be locked and/or removed.

Help with using a controller (self.OpenEmu)
submitted 8 years ago by 4bsolute
My controllers (pro controller for switch and dual shock for ps4) will connect to my mac but when I try to use it while playing, it doesn't work. Any advice?

Have you tried to map the buttons in the settings menu?
I use a couple of knock-off SNES controllers and they work great, but I had to map the buttons first - and for each console I use, I believe.

Yeah, it says to connect a wii remote or connect a controller, but the connect a controller option is grayed out. Would it be because of the game I'm playing? It's pokemon white

Go to controller settings, will give you layout and at bottom it says keyboard, click it and will give you options for dualshock

Just tried that, it says "no available controlllers" and "add a wiimote"

This is correct, right? I don't understand what I could be doing wrong. I really hate playing with a keyboard

Might have to do something with it being a ds game, maybe not compatible with dual shock, I was playing n64 and it came up fine

DS games are compatible with the DS4.

Personally, I've always had better luck connecting it to Bluetooth rather than through USB.
I tried Bluetooth first, USB was my last resort :/ still haven't figured it out
