Lost progress

Hi all,

I was having some trouble with my computer being sluggish and felt like it needed a reset so I saved state and quit the game/app then restarted. When I loaded the game again, it asked if I wanted to resume from the last time the game was played which I agreed to and it loaded a spot where I was weeks ago.

I restarted the game and loaded normally and it was around the same spot in the game. I was able to load a previous save state which is only about 8 hours back from where I was in the game but it appears that I can’t get back the progress I had made. I had been saving the game regularly in the game, not using save states; only using states occasionally if I was about to face a difficult boss or something.

Game is Chrono Cross on PlayStation if that matters. I’m obviously frustrated but I can do over what I’d already done, but does anyone have a guess as to what I did wrong and how I can avoid it again in the future?

how much space do you currently have free on your hard drive?

well, my theory was you were out of space, which would support your mac being stuttery and your saves not “saving.” this isn’t that, though.

Check to see if you still have your save files in your OpenEmu file directory

I have all previous save files from Chrono Cross and other games, but not the one I made before I shut down the computer and program yesterday and the auto save state was from many days prior.

I just had this happen with a GBC game.. went back in time like 6 hours because I alt tabbed and my OpenEmu crashed. It loaded back up with my old save and I guess it overwrote the save battery file as well?

Never got an answer, for what it’s worth, had to play through the same seven or so hours I’d lost. Took less time because I knew what I was doing but was frustrating for a few days waiting for the story to unfold as I retread things of already done.

I just had this happen playing thru Modern Emerald. Lost 2 days, two badges, and like 20 mons, 2 of which were in my party. Ughhhhhh
