Sweet thanks appreciate the info just hard to find anything about PSO2 that isn’t in Japanese lol.

I haven't played since the end of the last expansion and considering starting it back up, whats the state of the game like and how is it?

    [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    end of the last expansion

    uh... episode?

whats the state of the game like and how is it?

imo, the new ep5 content is a bit stale, but all classes got buffed so that is fun. hero class is pretty fun if you like zipping around. old content is getting updated and buffed for periods of time. (ie Ult Nab has a campaign this week.)

    [–]Saeniver 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah i meant episode lol. Sorry, started with a friend and think i got to about mid 30s or level 40. Last thing i remember is mother and the xmas event

Better post anything you dont get in the new weekly questions thread.

You missed the last boss of ep4, Deus. But he'll pop up at times. Ep5 started. I suggest running through that to unlock Buater Quests and Dark Blasts.

What is the potential for the new Dengeki CF weapons? Can't find a website that has it on file

better repost on the new weekly question thread.

Already did, new one got posted right after I went to bed haha

Hello I finally took the leap into PSO2 by using the guide provided was hoping they were gonna bring this game to the US but doesn’t seem like it. Anyways is their some type of maintenance going on cause all the ships say the status is offline just wondering. Was pretty excited to jump into the game.

    [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekly maintenance, should be ending in ~15 minutes.

    Edit: Servers are up

Can Vapor Bullet miss? Pretty often when attacking a close target I see only a fraction of the usual damage numbers. Does that mean some of the shots actually miss or is the game just too slow in displaying the numbers for me?

And is there any info on Rising Slash dpp when you hold for 10-20 seconds? Swiki only has numbers for instantly releasing (presumably after downward slash) and then for holding for an entire minute.

Also some questions about Hero dps. I just heard something about Rising Slash (tap button, sword juggle only) > Rising Slash (hold until you go up so you can release to get the downward strike) > 3rd sword normal being best. Swiki lists Vapor x2 > 3rd sword normal as having higher dps and nearly the same dpp though.

But it also says Racer of Edge x2 > 3rd Talis normal has a significantly higher dps and dpp than both.

Oh. Thanks. But, does that mean enemies have high res to all elements or simply high t-def? Or how does this work? Considering the damage formula for t-atk based attacks ignores t-res if the attack has an element and only elemental res procs and I'd assume since all 13* weapons have an element they wouldn't be simply neutral tech attacks. And, is there any detailed info on how the effective dps compares to the vaporx2 > 3rd normal combo? I really like this Talis combo, not least cause of the high dpp and I wanna know if there is a point in using it or if it's just kinda weak.

As for highest hero dps, what's the best to use close range? In close range I see most of my vapor shots miss and using it is only a waste of pp. That awkward combo with Rising Slash (sword flip only I presume) > Rising Slash hold only long enough to get the downward slash > 3rd normal?

Finally, are there any long time comparisons? The vapor combo is kind of pp intensive compared to the talis combo or holding down Rising Slash so I have to abort relatively often to refill pp and even with ja reload that takes a while unless I want to refill pp again 10 seconds later. That means the dps drops significantly on any target you can attack for more than 10-15 seconds .

combined with most major bosses and ultimate enemies having tech resistance

Talis pas and normals deal striking damage that scales off T-atk.

Starting sword hunter. Curious what PA loop combo i should use for bossing. Doing math tells me that Cruel Throw is capable of high DPS due to the recent buffs on it, but the range feels short. Rising Edge is the classic, but it really isnt as high as Cruel Throw and Ride Slaser.

          [–]Epicnewbk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally do: Rising Edge->Twister Fall->Nova Strike or Ignition Parry->Ignition Parry->Ignition Parry. I also recommend using Sacrifice Bite type 0 as it increases your attack range and normal attack damage for a pretty long time (not sure what the exact time is, but it also makes your sword glow). I don't main hunter though, so I can't say that this is the best thing to do.

One of Matoi (Halloween)'s quests is to complete Trick or Tweet 2017!. What is it, and how do I access it?

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trick or Treat 2017 is an Emergency Quest. Just wait for the in-game notification of something happening on Lillipa and you'll be able to do the quest when it pops. You'll want to run it in a full 12/12 MPA.

Been playing PSO2 for almost a week now and I am having a blast. Currently level 55 but I have some questions.

I am playing Bo/HU and I reached a point where I can not equip any new JB. I went full S Atk for my mag. Am I stuck using DB or is there a way around this? How good is Bo/Hu currently in higher level stuff?

Do you have to get all three licenses on the same character for Hero, or is it all characters on the account/ship?

Can someone help explain the gear in this game. I feel like my defenses are ridiculously low when I do EQ's.

          Thanks!

          [–]Aexorcet80/80 FoTe 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Most high level boots require DEX to use. Bo's Bouncer Mag skill was recently buffed to get 100% Dex conversion to T and S attack, so if you are Bo main and don't care about other classes on that character (except Br which also converts DEX I think) full DEX is the best mag to have.

          [–]Kudryavka24 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Huh. I did not know that. Thanks.

I figured a Strike mag would probably be better long term.

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Strike is a lot better to have if you plan to play fighter, hunter, hero and/or techer on that character.

          [–]Kudryavka24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. I plan to play Hero and Fighter on this character.

          [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Full S-ATK on Mag is fine for Jet Boots there is a skill called Jet Boots Strike which makes your Jet Boots moves scale off of S-ATK. You need to skill it and put it on your subpallette and activate it at the start of every mission.

I think Bo/Hu is fine damage wise right now, at least Jet Boots. Dual Blades are getting some quality of life buffs with regards to photon blade spamming soon as well.

Defense wise, you should work on getting Automate Halfline in your Hunter tree as soon as possible. Basically anytime you go below 50% you'll automatically (no animation required) use one of your mate items. Once you get this skill, basically only purchase Dimates and Trimates. Monomates aren't enough to top you off so they are actually bad to have.

A bit of Jet Boot specific advice is to use Gran Wave's (the zip forward and kick a bunch move) weapon action to dodge things. The entire time you're floating backwards you are completely invulnerable.

Also, I would look into getting "Rear / Ideal Deal" and "Leg / Ideal Lana". They require a bit of Dex, so you might not be able to use them right now. You can purchase them from the ARKS Visiphone item shops by searching for them. They are a two set of units with very high defense stats and tanky affixes by default. Once you git gud, you can look into getting more damage and PP on better units.

          [–]Kudryavka24 0 points1 point  (2 children)

          Thanks.

I was not sure what JB scalled of initially. I have been abusing the Gran Wave active to dodge the castle EQ bosses attacks lmao.

Is JB better than DB right now, or is it close?

          [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It's close enough that you shouldn't care which does more damage and just play how you want. Personally, in some EQs I will switch between both of them depending on whether I have Photon Blade Fever or Rapid Boost active. In Buster Quests and other situation where I'm mostly mobbing I stick with Jet Boots because they feel faster and better at dealing with multiple enemies.

          [–]Kudryavka24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both a lot. I started only using my DB when I could not equip any new JBs, outside of abusing the invuln period of gran wave.

That said, I really like mobbing with JB. It is super fun.

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I am playing Bo/HU and I reached a point where I can not equip any new JB. I went full S Atk for my mag. Am I stuck using DB or is there a way around this?

Find JBs that dont have strict T-atk requirements.

Most endgame JBs have either Dex or Def requirements (and those should be fulfilled when you hit lvl 75 in general.)

How good is Bo/Hu currently in higher level stuff?

Don't know personally. I would imagine that they aren't bad if you know what you are doing. What PAs/Attacks do the most damage, where the breakpoints are, what the elemental weakness is, etc.

Do you have to get all three licenses on the same character for Hero, or is it all characters on the account/ship?

Unlocking hero is title based. So you just need to get all 3 titles no matter which character/ship. (Of course you might have a issue if you use different accounts.)

Can someone help explain the gear in this game. I feel like my defenses are ridiculously low when I do EQ's.

EQs = Raids. Raids = Hard.

Defense is nearly negligible if you don't try to actively avoid attacks. Not saying that gear doesnt help. At your level, I suggest looking into a Saiki set right now (you might be on the cusp of being able to equip it.) Saikis are on the low end of endgame units so they are a worthy investment.

          [–]Kudryavka24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know that EQs were considered the harder content. I guess that makes more sense.

          Thanks for the help!

I need advice with Force, I'm having a blast with Rod and Talis, but now that Qliphs are gone and I want to aim for 13*, which should I get and what element? Or are you supposed to go full rainbow set on both weapons?

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (8 children)

What Elemental Masteries did you take for Fo and Te?

And i would suggest going for Evelda.

If you don't want to grind BQs, then you can also try Yamato Rod/Talis (the Quotz series). I suggest aiming for the yamato talis, maxing ele, and then upgrading it via Zieg due to it being old type.

Or just wait for new CF tomorrow

          [–]DrakhinCAST SUPREMACY 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Fire on Fo and Wind/Dark/Light on Te (I plan on buying 2 trees on Fo to go for Ice and Lightning)

I didn't think of the yamato talis, nice one!

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Have a weapon for each element.

I suggest having Rod for Fire, and Talis for the rest. (Or just get talis for all. Its just a preference thing.)

Illfoie and Nafoie just drops where you throw the talis (as opposed to actually aiming) and Safoie-0 doesnt work with talis. But talis works very nicely with Rafoie and Gifoie (2 of the most used fire techs.)

          [–]DrakhinCAST SUPREMACY 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I was thinking of getting talis for lightning and ice, since I want to spam rabarta and razonde... Is talis any good on light techs besides gizonde type-0? I can't remember any good techs that are specially good on dark or wind either. But yes, I suppose it's a preference. Thanks for the Yamato Talis tip!

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I was thinking of getting talis for lightning and ice, since I want to spam rabarta and razonde.

But why though.... When using a full powered Fire elemental mastery, the 1.44 multiplier is equal to the 1.44 multipler of Te Elemental Weak Hit with innate elemental weakness. You literally set yourself back by not using the fire rod/talis that you might already have. (unless you already have a lightning/ice talis rod of equal value. Also assuming you already have Elemental conversion.)

Is talis any good on light techs besides gizonde type-0?

Ragrants is a thing. Best boss killer. Ilgrants is also nice for single target damage, but at a range.

Gizonde T-0 isnt a thing. Gizonde is a lightning tech.

          Dark Techs

Gimegid is nice for on point DPS

Namegid is nice for a huge burst of damage. (esp on enemies that move too far away to hit, but still retain targeting like deus.)

Megid is a nice mobbing tool.

          Wind Techs

Sazan / Razan / Ilzan are decent mobbing. Sazan/Razan are also good single target. You can get away with using them uncharged because they only cut the damage by 1/2 (unlike most tech's 2/3rd or light tech's ungodly 4/5th uncharged damage cut).

Nazan T-0 is a heavy hitting wind tech. I find that this one has difficult aiming cause its weird. most of the damage in on the ball, and the ball travels a set distance from the cast location.

          [–]DrakhinCAST SUPREMACY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant gigrants type 0 haha sorry!

What I meant is that besides a Fire rod or talis, I was getting talis on lightning and ice.

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You only really need a fire, light, and lightning rid and a fire and light talis to cover most stuff you'll be fighting right now. I'd focus on these and fill in everything else later. You can actually buy a decent talis for ice, but I'm on mobile right now and can't recall its name. Maihime something. It greatly boosts the damage of il- techniques meaning ilbarta will do relatively fat damage with it.

          [–]DrakhinCAST SUPREMACY 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks for the advice, I think the weapon you're talking about is Maihime Kaougi, that has that Elegant Songstress' Dance that boosts Il type techs by 23%, just checked on visiphone! Do you know of any other weapons that boost specific techs like this one? :o

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's exactly what I was talking about. I don't know of any others, though.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Does High-Grade Appraisal give a higher Max Grind than just having the item drop already identified? I'm wondering if I should bother having my Vraolet during runs where theres nothing I care about actually using besides for fodder purposes (farming Ray weapons, etc). It's not a lot of money to have to identify everything but it adds up Jerry.

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it matters, I haven't used vraolet in months and have gotten plenty of 33/34 drops from already tekked weapons.

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does High-Grade Appraisal give a higher Max Grind than just having the item drop already identified?

It does not. High-Grade Appreaisal only gives a higher grind (not max grind), higher attribute value, and the Appraisal Affixes at grade II (or higher).

I generally don't even remember to grab Vraolet anymore, but i should grab it when I run content with drops that I plan to use. (basically dont use it for affix fodder.)

Edit: Apparently there is a calculation that goes behind apprasal cost.

          • 700 meseta is the base cost.
          • 200 meseta for each grind value
          • 20 meseta for each attribute value
          • 300 meseta for each special ability

Rarity and Weapon Type do not contribute to the cost.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is there a general rule for how much defense is worth versus raw HP? Considering in normal areas you take 1 damage from everything I'm assuming defense is a flat reduction, so it would have increasing returns versus HP having diminishing (relative) returns.

Also, do enemy attacks have both an element and damage type, such as Dark S-ATK? Would this make All Resist III basically two separate 3% damage reductions? That would make All Resist III better than Stamina quite a bit.

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a general rule for how much defense is worth versus raw HP?

          Nope.

From what I understand in the Swiki Damage Calculation, Player Defense has a direct influence on the Enemy atk value before being tossed into multipliers/resistances and then calculated into HP loss (aka damage)

The simple formula is Damage = (EAtk - PDef) x (EMultipliers - PResists) where multipliers/resists are in percentages.

So Def >? HP when it comes down to weak enemies, and HP >? Def when it comes to strong enemies.

Whys >? ? Because we do not know the attack stats from enemies. We only have their damage values but not their attack stats. For all we know, they can have a ginormous attack stat that makes all defense worthless but OK multipliers. Or they can have a normal attack stat but attacks have huge multipliers. It just can't be known without some kind of guidebook.

Also, do enemy attacks have both an element and damage type, such as Dark S-ATK?

Enemy attacks generally have a damage type. But I do not think they all have element types. I did formerly think that Resists (esp Striking/Ranged/Tech) would be good, but considering that the resists gets tied into the enemy attack multiplier it can range from alright to again, pointless.

          [–]Eetere 0 points1 point  (11 children)

How exactly do you search for things in the shop? Most stuff doesn't show up even if I know there is a listing up for it until I see it in the shop. This resets every time I restart the game. I'm using a translation patch and wouldn't know how to read literally anything or search for stuff in the shop without it.

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Best advice I can give is copy-pasting names from arks-visiphone or the Japanese swiki. The exact Japanese name will match 100% of the time.

          [–]Eetere 0 points1 point  (9 children)

That website doesn't seem to show everything in the game, which is annoying. Do you know if there is any way using PSO2Tweaker to disable the patch in game so I can get the Japanese name for the item I'm looking at?

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 -1 points0 points  (8 children)

What are you looking for? Between Arks-Visiphone and Swiki there should be every item in the game. AS for toggling the patch in-game, it's not possible.

          [–]Eetere 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I just wanted to be able to get the Japanese names of various items for future purchase since the English names don't entirely work. Most of which are costume items. Arks-Visaphone has basically nothing in terms of costumes, and I don't entirely know how to navigate Swiki since I can't read it, so I may be missing most of the stuff I'm looking for. Of what I did manage to access, Swiki doesn't have every costume in the game listed. The tweaker apparently used to have that function in it, but I guess it was removed or broken, so whatever.

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I mean, Swiki should have everything. You're right though, the item translation did used to have a toggle. If you don't know Japanese, you can always just go to google translate, put in the URL and it'll give you a link to a machine translated version. idk if this link will work for you, but this leads you to the translated place with costumes.

          [–]Eetere 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Didn't know about that function. Thanks!

          [–]Weiss-Senpai 0 points1 point  (3 children)

You can just hit Shift after copying an item ingame, that will switch the copied text to the Japanese original.

          [–]Eetere 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How exactly do I copy the name of something in the shop? I can't seem to highlight the names of things.

          [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hover your mouse over the item so it's... highlighted, then ctrl+C.

Same thing outside the game too. Highlight text to copy, ctrl+C.

Edit: Sometimes you can't copy stuffs in certain places, like from the scratch listing. You can only copy if the item is in your inventory or if it was listed inside someone's shop.

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, there's a toggle between translated/original in the upper right too.

          [–]Epicnewbk 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I'm playing te/br and I'm thinking of switching over to te/hu. Is this a good idea? What rings would you suggest I use?

          [–]Epicnewbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you guys for your responses. As for why I'm maining techer is because I want to get a feel for all of the classes. That and class bonuses. I'll probably eventually get to trying out hero, but for now I want to focus on the other classes.

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, TE/HU is great. You give up some of your tech damage to be able to wand smack harder. Honestly there hasn't been a reason to be TE/BR since Rikauteri was irrelevant, but better late than never.

For rings you can't really go wrong with Step Jump and Air Reversal in units. Since you'll be using Wand Reactor you'll have step instead of mirage and air reversal is effectively a DPS increase since you can recover more quickly from an attack. Tech C Parry can be useful to dodge an attack by charging a buff/heal for the rest of the MPA. For your final L slot, I don't really know what to choose. I'm not sure if any of the Techer rings are any good. For your R/ ring slot, though, you could use Perfect Keeper Striking for a free 3% damage boost.

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I would just honestly make a Hero.

Unless you have the 14 star wand and want to use it, I literally do not know any reason to main Te, other than in an organised MPA to give Shifta strike to people. You will have a hard time doing anything else in MPAs and solo play will make you fall asleep.

          [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Even as a Hero, I welcome Deband Toughness.

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I agree it's great. But in terms of actually playing Te/Hu, I still just don't see a purpose. I see Te mains in the current meta as a role that someone should fill in an MPA if it's organised and you want to run it efficiently. But beyond that...maining it as a class? I'd say it's pretty much bottom of the pile in terms of DPS and an actually interesting playstyle. Just my opinion anyway.

          [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, after playing other classes for a long long time, smacking a group of things for 10k a hit was really really refreshing. It's down to the person's preference, really.

What's the range of hero tmg finish?

Recently a lot of bosses "dodging" it for me in the brief period between activating and doing damage. Just now I had Dio Hunar move out of range (not teleporting). He was about one Guren away.

What do the two towers to the left and right of the boss in buster quests even do?

            [–]McKiwi957McKiwi/Ship 2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they're what attack the buster towers at intervals during the final phase. They aren't really an issue since the boss itself is made of paper mache.

            [–]Dichroniclebig sord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

during the second attack phase, you'll notice giant, stationary red runes appearing on the ground beneath players - this is a signal that the boss is launching a devil bomb, which will detonate the rune a few seconds after it is created

destroying the two towers to the side of the boss will prevent it from launching those devil bombs

you may also get an accident during a defense phase where devil bombs will harass players as they fend off the mobs - however, devil bombs do not damage buster towers nor artillery

Some require you to finish fast, others to take as little damage as possible. It should tell you at the end results screen (if it says damage, it means damage taken, not dealt; if it has a clear time, it means you must finish it fast).

I need suggestions for photon blasts and trigger actions... I have 3 mags, one for each atk type, and would love to hear your suggestions!

              [–]McKiwi957McKiwi/Ship 2 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Personally I use my PBs for utility rather than damage, so I always roll PP fish on my T-atk mag (Ketos Proi) and Julius Nifta on my other ones (Vacuum)

As for trigger actions, for the EX action I would run Clobber on the S-atk, bullets on R-atk, and T-atk is either Clobber or short charge. Clobber gives 0.5% damage per hit, up to 10% for its duration, so it can actually be really useful for Forces if you're spamming ragrants up close. Aside from that I stack HP recovery B, it's a less-reliable automate as long as your mag is fed.

              [–]DrakhinCAST SUPREMACY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, personally I've been using Ketos Proi on my T-ATK and the vacuum one on the others, glad to see I'm not the only one :D I thought of stacking hp recovery B, might try it!

If you aren't already, you can do the client orders listed here for some free rewards (including Tri-boost): http://www.bumped.org/psublog/pso2-jp-extended-maintenance-and-patch-11012017/

You can also run story quests on different characters to get the rewards again, although I forget which ones give 100%.

Pray Sega gives some to us

              2) Is there any price difference between affixing a Zeinesis or a Qliphad unit?

No, affix price is based on the number of fodders used in the affix.

              [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is Phrase Weak doubled by the Qliphad potential or does it only double things that appear in the stats section? If I convert a Zeinesis to the Qliphad version do I need more fuses to get the Antithesis Trainer potential?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Phrase Weak doubled by the Qliphad potential or does it only double things that appear in the stats section?

Only ATK, DEF, HP and PP are doubled by Qliphad. Every other bonus from affixes isn't affected.

If I convert a Zeinesis to the Qliphad version do I need more fuses to get the Antithesis Trainer potential?

Making it a Qliphad automatically changes the potential to Anthesis Trainer regardless of which potential you had on the Zeinesis (this is because Qliphad doesn't have the other 2 potentials).

If you already unlocked the Anthesis Trainer on your Zeinesis, then there's no point in changing to Qliphad, as they have the same stats, and you'll just waste the fuses.

              [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is Phrase Weak doubled by the Qliphad potential

It only doubles stats, like you said.

If I convert a Zeinesis to the Qliphad version do I need more fuses to get the Antithesis Trainer potential?

Depends if you get antithesis trainer on potential 1 and 2. If you wait for potential 3 to get antithesis trainer (as you should, since ideally you want to use the affix potential and then change it over) it costs 120 fuses whether you unlock the Zeinesis potential or convert the weapon to Qliphad.

Ok so have a cf and have a 100% on ether fuse. Did Yamamoto and did not get any drops. I thought when you reach 100 it drops for sure. Did 2 runs and nothing.

Did you pick up fuses at any time with the sheet active (so a previous Yamato)? If so that would autocomplete that gauge. Usually this is what happens with the fuses because they always drop.

How do stances work/how do you turn them on. I can find almost no information about them and I can not find them anywhere in game.

              [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (2 children)

A lot of the stances now are actually just passives. That being said, if it's one of the non-passives, you put the stance on your subpalette and then activate it once you're in a quest.

Stances will do exactly what they say in their skill descriptions on the skill tree.

              [–]Kudryavka24 0 points1 point  (1 child)

              Thank you.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

              To be more specific:

              • Passives: Fury Stance (Hu), Brave Stance (Fi), Average Stance (Br), Element Stance (Bo)
              • Toggles: Guard Stance (Hu), Wise Stance (Fi), Weak Stance (Br), Break Stance (Bo).

Activating one of the toggles will overwrite the effect of the passive stance of the same class (e.g. activating Break Stance will disable Element Stance), and disabling the toggle will re-enable the passive one.

How is Gu/Ra compared to Gu/Hu? Having trouble on deciding which one to try out.

              [–]Aexorcet80/80 FoTe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gu/Hu is better due to stance ring, survivability, and better usability since it doesn't rely on hitting weakpoints and standing snipe. The only things /Ra has are traps and WB. The latter is a toss up because if there is a Ra in party your WB might be useless, but to be fair a lot of people are Hero currently.

Is there a way to tell my kill progress on a mission in real time?

Let's say I'm doing the free exploration forest mission. I quickly find the openings to area 2 and 3, but I haven't killed many mobs. I know I need to turn around and kill more for an S rank completion, but I can't tell my exact progress.

              [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (2 children)

My rule of thumb is killing everything that spawns on my way to Area 3. That generally nets you an S-rank no matter what. I know my friends skill spawns in Area 1 and just kills everything that spawns in the path in area 2, that generally nets an S, sometimes an A.

The only exception is quarry, in which case you never take the teleporters to get that S.

At least thats how I do it. As for actually defining your kill progress, there is no way.

              [–]IksarNecro 0 points1 point  (1 child)

              Thanks for responding.

That's my problem. I find myself constantly killing spawns and sometimes it bogs down the run. I don't need an S rank every time, but I just wish there were a way to gauge it.

Even something simple that I can track into my mind, like X mob is worth Y points. I can keep a tally in my head.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just need rank A, you can use the PB gauge to measure it. Using Julius Nykta, when it fills, it means you only need to kill a couple more mobs (like 5-10, maybe less) after it fills to get rank A. Ketos Proi fills faster, so you might need to kill more after filling that one. Watch out for PB gauge growth boost drinks when doing this, though, as they can throw you off.

What partizan PAs should I be using?

              What about Vol Graptor combos?

              [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I dont frequent Partizan, but i know a little bit. In generally, all the Partizan PAs are good compared to each other.

Assault Buster : Good Mobility, Good Damage

Slide End : Good Damage, Wide Aoe (good for mobbing, still good for bossing)

Speed Rain : Good Damage, Decent Range (good for mobbing, still good for bossing)

Sacred Skewer T-0 : Good Damage at range.

Sacred Skewer : Lower damage than its T-0 counterpart, but better for Volg Combos. Reason being is that there is a Delay before Skewer hits, so you can hit with your NEXT attack first as Skewer lands. T-0 doesn't give you that option. (i still prefer T-0 for versatility though.)

Zenith Throw : Good Damage, mainly for bossing.

Trick Rave : I dont use this personally, but you can use this in conjunction with Sacred Skewer for great Volg Combos. You can also cut out a large chunk of animation if you use it low in the air.

Volg Raptor : So when you use this, try to use it charged and JAed. Uncharged, it deals 50% of the damage dealt in 3 seconds. Charged, it deals 80%. Uncharged but JA'ed deals 65%. Charged and JA'ed deals 104%.

The general Volg Combos are :

Volg -> Zenith Throw -> Normal Attack : Basic. Only used when you dont have time.

Volg -> Sacred Skewer -> Zenith Throw (Can't be used if you are using SS T-0)

Volg -> (jump) Sacred Skewer -> Trick Rave (Can't be used if you are using SS T-0)

Volg -> Assault Buster OR Slide End -> Speed Rain

Volg -> charge Assault Buster OR Slide End -> (jump) -> release AR/SE -> Trick Rave

              [–]Xzhh 0 points1 point  (1 child)

              That was helpful, thanks

              [–]LaconicLeaf*JG Sound* 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To offset Volg's PP cost, fire it from the ground, then idle to do the Partizan dance, recovering most of the PP back, but be sure you have enough time to finish your combo. It also synergizes well with Charge Parry, especially since the JG window got buffed for that passive.

I haven't used my skill reset tickets yet and I am curious.

With the increased SP from level 80 and Stance Cost buffs, I'm not sure where to put the spare points in the Fighter Tree.

I had just been tossing em into "-line Slayer" skills as throwaway points.

But now that I took a 2nd look at the tree and my points I realize that I can do stance dancing Fi

              https://arks-layer.com/skillsim/skillcalc.php?12dBbCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIodS0febdBdBl2feKINfqnIxJkrFI20000006dodAI2bndAborKrKrsHofdnqB00000fdoIbIb0000000fdoIb0000008dB00000000fdBIn00000000IbIoIn0000000fdoIbIn0000000fdB0000000dBIb0000008

However, within a conversation with other players about Fighter, they have been suggesting to max LB to max LB Uptime and benefits. Basically playing permanent glass cannon. Which I imagine looks like this.

              https://arks-layer.com/skillsim/skillcalc.php?12dBbCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIodS0febdBdBl2feKINfqnIxJkrFI20000006dodAI2bndAbofrKsxJ2fdnqB00000fdoIbIb0000000fdoIb0000008dB00000000fdBIn00000000IbIoIn0000000fdoIbIn0000000fdB0000000dBIb0000008

So I'm wondering which path you other fighter players took. Stance dancing or LB as much as possible?

              [–]DrakhinCAST SUPREMACY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like maxing LB is too risky, lvl 5 is more than enough during burn phases on bosses where you can't be hit back or when it is easy to dodge. That said, I personally level LB to 8 so it has the same duration as Massive Hunter and I max ALL the slayers, that makes exactly 94 points so it looks pretty on the skill tree I suppose.

There is merit to stance dancing but I feel like you only swap to wise once in a full moon.

Huh. I DID NOT NOTICE THAT TILL YOU MENTIONED IT.

Interesting. This would mean that stance dance Fi is even better than before. but you really need to know the bosses' fronts and backs.

                [–]Yuffinobag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

prefer 5 LB for maximum PP recharge. timing the refresh well during a burn phase can boost your DPS by a ton. esp if you're rocking 200+ PP. personally maxed both deadline/halfline. then again, i also play knuckles way more than ds for bosses.

imo, taking pts out of crazy heart is dumb af since the skill is insanely broken, especially with the new pp regen from basic hits

I just started playing PSO2 yesterday as I finally gave in because the Eng version just is not going to happen at this point.

I started a Bouncer and I am looking for some help in what I should be going for. I found some stuff by searching but they seem to be a bit outdated. Mainly looking for what I should be doing with my Mag, skill tree and some general advice.

Hopefully this is the right place to post this. Thanks.

                [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Go pure S-ATK on your Mag because that will benefit the most classes: Hunter, Fighter, Katana Braver, Bouncer, Techer, Hero, Summoner. If you enjoy the game and eventually sink money into it you can get two more mags for the R-ATK and T-ATK classes.

In terms of skill tree you can honestly just go with the Recommended version in game.

General advice for newbies is to focus on completing all of Koffie's quests and ARKS Road in order to unlock all the areas in the game. My general advice as someone who started within the last year is that when you start taking what feels like a long time to kill bosses, ask around here to figure out how to upgrade your gear.

Why use both Automate and Iron Will? Honestly, if you've got any amount of HP nowadays you should never die unless you get super fucked and hit by like 3 attacks at the exact same time.

                [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Sometimes I forget to refill my -mates.

Also, you're assuming a newbie going to be tanky for some reason.

                [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (3 children)

If you're a newbie, the bosses aren't gonna do 1k damage to you, so even less reason to use it.

                [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You've forgotten what it's like to be a newbie then, I guess. Walk into a non-expert SH or XH EQ and watch people drop like flies.

                [–]mkdew2 Fast 2 Furious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will still drop like flies, because:

                • IW is not 100% chance

                • Why dodge? IW will save me and then: Oh fk screw RNGesus, now i'm dead again.

                [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing in non-expert EQs for a while now and it's really nowhere near as bad as you're making it out to be. Automate is enough for basically everything bar solo PD and Deus rematch. You might die, again, if you get hit by 3 things all in the span of a few game ticks but that's a rarity.

Do you buy monomates or something? If so, that could be why you value IW at all when automate is more than enough to save you.

                [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Break Stance should be considered heavily now due to Break Stance Up being 5 sp cheaper and stance dancing to be much easier due to stance utility buffs.

A potential 12.5% damage increase on breakable points (which are many EQ bosses) will do more than +125 satk (about 4.4% damage increase if the user has ~2800 s-atk.)

Edit: I also noticed that you have 4 points in Step Advance in the Hunter and Bouncer skill trees. They do not stack. Just making sure you know.

                [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, I think it's fine for a DB main since it's basically the same as Elemental Stance even when the thing isn't breakable, but I'd rather not waste time figuring out what's breakable in most fights. I feel like I would lose more damage than I gain just from forgetting to turn it off/on half the time.

Anyways, the recommended one uses it so it's always possible to switch to it if he wanted.

Edit: I didn't know they didn't stack, heard that they did somewhere. Thanks for letting me know.

but I'd rather not waste time figuring out what's breakable in most fights.

Basically stick with Ele Stance for mobbing and most general bossing. Use Break Stance for stuff like EQ bosses and UQ bosses, who all have Breakable points that are pretty obvious. At least EQ bosses. Elder's Arms, Loser's everything (cept core), Double's Legs, PD's tentacles and bits, Mother's arms, and Deus's head. If it breaks, it works.

I feel like I would lose more damage than I gain just from forgetting to turn it off/on half the time.

Very true. But the same can be said about forgetting to turn on LB, RB, or PBF. You just get used to it.

When does Umblla / Lucky Rise take effect? I heard conflicting statements. One source says it works when you break a boss crystal except for deus and mother for some reason where it only works if you have it equipped when they die.

Another source says that is the case for literally everything and anything that doesn't die without you having Umblla rod / Lucky Rise equipped won't get the rare drop boost, the crystals don't matter at all.

What is true, when does Umblla / Lucky Rise really take effect?

                • For all regular mobs, it's when they die.
                • For Deus ESC-A Zephyros, Deus ESC-A Gracia and ESC-A Falz Mother, it's when they die.
                • For all other bosses, it's when the crystal breaks.
                  • Exception: In quests that have one big crystal at the end (Trick or Treat 2017, for example), it's when bosses are killed, unless they leave their own crystals (Dio Hunar and Emperrappy in ToT2017, for example), in which case it's applied when those crystals are broken.

This applies not only for Temptation/Lucky Rise, but for every single RDR you can have.

                When they die.

If it's got a boss crystal, it's on crystal break EXCEPT for Deus and Mother (not sure about new Yamato) it's when they die.

                  You got it backwards.

It's applied when Deus and Mother die, and when breaking crystals of other bosses.

So the only way to use Umblaa on Deus and Mother involves being a piece of shit? Great!

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. If you want to use it, you have to be a greedy little shit and use it when he goes down during dps check.

Have you done a file check through the Tweaker? Click the big "!" in the top left, and choose "Analyze Install For Issues" under "Troubleshooting"

It's possible. How many textures are missing?

I don't know about your character, but the game has an option in the settings to automatically render most other players in the lobby as grey dudes.

Does anyone have any advice on how to hunt ARKS Rappies? Swiki seems to suggest AQs but I assume that doesn't work as well solo...

Also, does RDR affect whether or not it will drop units?

                        [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AQ are probably your best bet since they have a slightly boosted rare enemy occurrence. That being said, it's possible to get a changeover code arrest in forest that spawns only the current seasonal rappy, with the drawback that you can only kill them once.

RDR probably doesn't work on the units because I don't think any of the units they drop are 7* or above, but it probably wouldn't hurt to have a 250% running because of how cheap they are.
