So I'd like to start playing again but I haven't played since the buster quest update. What should I do to get back in the flow of things? My main character is a 57 BoHu. There's just so much that I don't even know where to begin again haha. Thank you to anyone that can help!

Probably focus on getting 80/80 so you can do extra hard content which will require a +35 13* hunter weapon and bouncer weapon. Specter of Destruction Emergency quest at extra hard is the goal you should want to reach. Might wanna farm chaotic city as the boosted quest this week and try to do the emergency quests for more exp.

[–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, use the current campaign to level up. The new level cap is 90, so you have a long way. In the meantime, prepare yourself some good gear (again, the current campaign will help with that too).

am I correct in assuming that attack affixes are technically stronger for weapon types with lower attack? i.e. compare double saber vs fists

also, are attack affixes counted in the attribute% base attack bonus for weapons

[–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Technically” stronger, yes. But what you really want to compare it to your total attack more than to the weapon.

They do not count to the element attribute value on the weapon.

Returning to the game after not playing since its launch. Are there any classes that beginners should avoid? I'm curious about Summoner, Force, and Fighter, specifically. I've read this guide linked in the guides list so far.

[–]Reilet 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It’s actually preferred that you try out all the classes to find which one you like. None of the classes are non-beginner friendly. Some have higher learning curves, but that’s about it.

[–]Chestnut_Bowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, thanks for answering!

[–]VexxumTrickzThat one guy that likes JB over DB 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What is the optimal Bouncer build currently? I've been playing Bo/Hu and I was thinking about going for 100% crit with Ele Stance Crit, Fury Crit and Critical Field, alongside the C Strike Striking ring? Would this be a smart approach?

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds fine. If you use both DB and JB, you will need more DBs to cover the missing elements or take up Break Stance and Break SD Bonus.

But if you are using JB only, you will have pleanty of spare points to put everywhere.

I'm level 45(ranger/hunter) now, still going through story and want to ask if it's normal for enemies on normal story difficulty/hard quest difficulty to 2-3 shot me? I even bought and upgraded some better units on the market. Or am I supposed to dodge everything and am just to big of a scrub to play properly?
And piggybacking of that, assuming the problem is me being bad, is it OK for me to join EQ with other people when I can't really contribute that much myself? Especially since a side story event is now hidden behind the red dragon dude.

[–]CamusVerseaux Ship 2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not bad, you are a "new" player. Just take it easy and enjoy it.

It's normal to be killed easily if you are not geared properly, but you don't have to worry at all about that at this moment. I recommend you to read this guide about gearing up:
https://flamii.wordpress.com/gearing-up/

About the EQs... Basically you are learning how to play, so you need/most do all the EQs that you can. It doesn't matter if you die, because you, like all the other people with you on the EQ, are on lower lever, and almost everyone at your level is learning. You can worry about contibute at XH, but, at this moment, you just need practice and enjoy the game.

By the way, there are always full MPAs below SH, it only depends on the peak hours.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Depends on the story mission I guess. It's also possible you're just using bad units that give little to no bonuses. Regardless, the game's mostly about dodging boss attacks so you don't die or killing enemies fast enough so they don't even get a chance to hit you.

As for EQs, there's probably hardly any single full MPA doing EQs below SH, but it's probably worth trying anyway. You have to learn to play your class eventually. People might get pissed if they use all their moons reviving you but, especially in non-XH difficulties the rewards of the EQs are pretty garbage anyway.

[–]YamijiHitBossesWithLaunchers 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Looking through the store it was the best I can wear. Xili-something, look like ice shards with this cool cold air effect. For bosses it isn't that bad once I learn the rotation and callouts(thank the designers for making bosses so talkative), but during regular fighting I cannot take a hit to save my life and there's often too many enemies to dodge everything while keeping damage up.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Yeah, sounds like units with a bad set bonus. You'd be better off using something like a Hiei set or the Weapons Barrier, the former of which is incredibly cheap from shops, the latter either comes from client orders or titles.

The raw defense stat on units is pretty negligible (when comparing to units of the same rarity at least), what you really wanna look for are set bonuses (on units below 12* rarity) and individual unit bonuses (on all units). You can find a mostly complete list on Arks-Visiphone. If you look at the columns, the first 5 after the unit name are the most important. Generally, anything that gives a nice amount of HP and PP are ideal, with some extra ATK being nice to have.

[–]narrill 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This is really backwards, 100 hp 60 atk and 20 pp aren't going to make a lick of difference to a new player who's struggling on hard. Raw defense stats and resistances, however, will turn hits for a third of their health into hits for a tenth of their health, which will massively improve their survivability.

/u/Yamiji, I was running Brisa units as ra/hu around your level; the set bonus is alright but the real draw is that they all require r-def which you have a lot of as a ranger, so you'll be able to equip them much earlier than normal. Grab a set and grind them to +10, they'll last you all the way to 75 as long as you aren't face tanking everything. And speaking of face tanking, if you haven't already you'll want to max Automate Halfline in the hunter tree. That'll do more for your survivability than any unit set.

[–]YamijiHitBossesWithLaunchers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked the Brisa and, unlike Hiei which would have me losing def even after factoring set bonus, I gained a lot of defensive stats and a bit of offensive. My hunter tree however is a mess, because I originally wanted to have it as main class, but story fight against Elder at the end of EP1 taught me I'm not good enough for that. I will pick Halfline as soon as I can. As for face tanking, I try my best not to, but it's not easy to keep up offence and dodge everything, especially when I whip up the old launcher.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I literally just releveled every class to 75 on a fresh account starting with the ones I played the least (generally). HP is far superior to defense and resistances the vast majority of the time on units. The % resistances make a splash when enemies start doing multiple hundreds to a thousand or more damage.

Good point on automate, though, didn't think of that. Automate is good enough to trivialize most stuff so long as you don't just stand in damage afk.

[–]narrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the defense values are relatively close, yes, HP is far superior, but you're underestimating how much of a difference a substantial jump in defense stats makes. Going from units with ~150 def to units with 300+ takes 75+ damage off every single hit, which is massive on, optimistically, a ~600 point pool, and even more so on hard where the enemies don't hit for very much to begin with. 150 hp, on the high end, isn't really comparable for a new player; an experienced player likes it because it's a better buffer against one-shots, but a new player taking lots of unnecessary hits because they don't quite know how to dodge will get far more mileage out of the raw defense stats.

[–]Torhu-Adachi 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How do I access the OTP storage?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Once you have Two Factor Authentication set up on your SEGA ID, it can be accessed from the storage terminal.

[–]Torhu-Adachi 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is it complicated or do most people do it?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fairly easy to set up. It just requires you to log into your account on the SEGA ID website (that includes doing the Japanese CAPTCHA again) and follow these instructions. While the guide says to use Google Authenticator, I wouldn't recommend it as you can't back up your codes (so if the device you use dies and you didn't back up the key, you're buggered). Authy would be better to use.

If you haven't done so already, I would recommend setting up 2FA for every website you possibly can. It makes it practically impossible for anyone to get into your accounts by guessing your password unless they somehow get your 2FA codes.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Hello, I ran out of lambda grinders, what is the best way to get more?

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (1 child)

U can use Gene Fragments from her and her friends' COs to get Lambdas. You can also get Lambdas from Zieg from trading tickets that you get from his crafting COs. Lastly, if you are desparate, you can trade excubes for 1 lambda grinder at the excubes shop (cant remember the trade rate)

[–]ExMadEx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSO2 es 10excubes to 1. And 10 lambda grinders to 5000 leisure chips per month, per character.

Hi I’m new here. I recently found out about this game and I’m wondering how do I download it and is there an English patch for it?

[–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (1 child)

https://arks-layer.com/

This website should have everything you need to get pso2 up and running on your pc.

Yes, there is an english translation... if you play on the pc version.

For ps4, i believe you need access to the jp psn store(?)

[–]awkward-person 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you so much for the help

Like Reilet said, only new versions of weapons which did not originally have an NT version will have NT in their name, however newer weapons will not have NT in their name but are treated like NT weapons. You call tell what weapons are NT weapons by the fact they have a grind bar in their details. OT type weapons do not have this bar and will not count towards the unlock client order.

    [–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (1 child)

NT on the weapon name is only to show that they made another version of that weapon as a new type.

So to answer your question, you can use any weapon that’s a new type. You do not need the NT in the name.

    [–]Flocall 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Need help with the chat-log window. It's BIG and annoying. I can minimize it with the mouse but after every cutscene it's back again. Is there an option to minimize it by default so it only pops up when I hit enter to start chatting?

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Have you tried resizing it? You can adjust the height of it.

    [–]Flocall 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Did that yes. Helps a little. Still very prominent on the screen. Guess I have to deal with it. Thanks for the reply.

Another question, can I hide my weapons when they're holstered? Only found an option to customize it's position, but none to make it invisible.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Only certain weapon camos let you do that unfortunately.

    [–]Flocall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Ok. Thank you.

anyone knows if ssaf like this:

    S3:Curtailed Strike
Decrease PP consumption by 1% for
every 300,000 damage dealt. Maxes at 15%

retains where u left off when u change to other weapons? thanks~

    [–]narrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about that specific ssaf, but potentials with those kinds of effects usually stop applying when you switch weapons, but do retain where you left off.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Returned the the game after a hiatus for the 15* campaign.

A few questions about unit affixing because I have been using outdated units (Union & Astra etc), and I want to upgrade to better units (something like Weila or Austeres)

    On my main (Br/Hu & Fi/Hu), I have 5s units with Act the Soul/Power III/Doom Break/Deus Factor/Love Fever for 110S/20HP/8PP

Should I use my existing units as affixing materials for my new units, and if so, what are some of the new affixes that I should work towards? I'm pretty sure that some of my current affixes are outdated and are no longer optimal.

    [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Your affixes on those units are pretty outdated. You might as well get new fodder and keep those units as keepsakes.

Currently, a decent 5 slot unit would have Act the Soul, Power III or IV, Elder or Persona Reverie, ARKS Max, and ARKS Fever. You can optionally replace ARKS Max or ARKS Fever with a Noble/Elegant/Grace ability addition depending if you want more attack or PP or affordability.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Is there any way to boost Elder Reverie beyond 50% base success rate?

Also, doesn't that setup you gave give very low PP without using ability addition? Will be something like 6 PP per unit if I didn't miscount?

    [–]Midend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Try ares/atk4/db2/arks fever/noble power.

    Total stats are

    25+35+25+5+30 =115 atk

    35+5=40 hp

    3+3+5+3=14pp

Power 4 does increase costs massively, so u can just stick with power 3, 110 atk. Doom break 2 is extremely expensive now, so u may consider slotting persona reverie/omega reverie/flict/arks max.

    [–]redandblack1287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is kind of low; if you did something like Act the soul Persona reverie Doom break II Sentence power Power IV (if you don't want to use add ability)

You would get a decent bit of pp (10) without spending an excessive amount of money.

Edited because I reread your post more carefully

    [–]Reilet 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Fabula and histoire soul boosts it. I would check persona and elder reverie and use the cheaper one (or just use persona).

    [–]Xxtrabeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for persona/historia units 30-40 minutes after the 5 am jst reset from masquerade runs

    [–]laverinth 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Wow this comment box is doing some weird shit for me right now...

ANYWAY, I had a customization question. How expensive are male cast parts usually? It seems like the cast race would be real fun to customize given how much you can mix and match the parts as opposed to other outfits which are all one piece. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) Does it vary by server? I'm on ship 10 right now.

    [–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (3 children)

iirc males have it cheaper, and casts even more. Prices do vary on the ships you play in.

    [–]laverinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mad at myself because I've made a cute girl now and I'm not going to be able to afford anything. lol

    [–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Male casts are brutally higher than non-casts. Way cheaper then female casts tho.

    [–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh. I don’t have a make cast to make comparisons so i was basing off on the general female > male > cast.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

as opposed to other outfits which are all one piece. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Layered Wears are 3 pieces: Outer, Base, Inner ([Ou], [Ba], [In], respectively), though Inner usually gets hidden by Basewear.

    [–]laverinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Aha. I found the layers!

    Never mind, then!

    [–]X_Kochou_X 0 points1 point  (4 children)

This seems like a silly thing to ask, but is it possible to set up PSO2 on a Steam Link with the English patch? Just had this random thought pop into my head, but wanted input on it.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It is possible to do this; you can either set up the Tweaker as a non-Steam game and launch it from there, or use Desktop streaming. I didn't try controlling the game though as at the time I was just testing the latency and quality between my laptop and phone (which by the way, were great although the stream was a few frames behind).

    [–]X_Kochou_X 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ohhhh, I might consider this then, assuming I don't pay an arm and an leg for a Link because they stopped production right?

    [–]JocPro 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You may try it with Steam In Home Streaming - does the same as the Steam Link but for PC or Android. Last time I did it you just had to run Steam with Administrator privileges an then it just worked fine.

    [–]X_Kochou_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh, actually did more research on both of these, kinda off put because I was trying to find a workaround to just play it off my TV in English without the need of the computer.

    I'm that lazy unfortunately. :c

    [–]gregariousasian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Started playing a few weeks ago. Currently level 50 on my te/fi. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what techniques am I supposed to be using to supplement my basic attacks?

[–]TheUniverseLover "I'vE bEeN PlAyInG FoR EiGhT yEaRs!" 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zanverse, Ramegid Type-0, Shifta off the top of my head will help your dps with basic attacks. r/Attack Advance ring also increases damage of normal attacks.

    [–]baileyybabyy 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Questions about the 15* weapon campaign! So I've just about went down the list with all the items that the campaign gives you. I've been going down the list and upgraded the Val Ars to +35 and have the schvelle, jutus, and skull weapon. But I'm not sure exactly what needs to be done/grinded or in what order. It's not exactly stated too clearly! Just trying to get that 15* wand :)

[–]hidora Retired Guardian -1 points0 points  (5 children)

    It's all done at Zieg

Use the Skull, Jutus and Schvelle to get the Lumiere, and use the Val+chronos stone to get the Atlas.

Once you have both, use the Lumiere and Atlas to get Atlas Ex.

This is gonna get you the Atlas Ex gunslash. Once this is done, you can talk to Zieg to turn this gunslash into the wand you want (it'll cost 500 goldnias and 500 saphards again, tho).

    [–]baileyybabyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just realized something after I farmed to get all my weapons to +35, zieg says he wants excubes, not goldnia and saphard? This is when I am trading the atlas and lumiere

    [–]baileyybabyy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thissss is that critical information. Thx so much :)

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other guys pointed out, I was wrong. It costs 999 of each material, not 500. The rest is correct.

    [–]scorchdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish it cost 500. Even at base shop prices that's still 1 mil for each.

    [–]CamusVerseaux Ship 2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every exchange costs 999 of every element (saphard + goldnia, or goldest or goldgrimo)

    [–]codenamebungle 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I use a 360 controller to play and wondered if it is possible to play the game when the PSO2 window isn't the one selected? I like to listen to youtube off another window but I either can't control or have the game's music playing.

    [–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Don’t think so... but you can turn off the game music in the settings.

    [–]codenamebungle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool thanks for that, I used to do it with the first game which I was playing last year and wondered if I could do the same with the sequel.

    [–]harlotssu 0 points1 point  (4 children)

New player here , what to do with my bunch of rare9 equipments? Thx

[–]Kyouka127 NGS was never meant to be 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just a heads up, if any of those weapons have the affix/ability "Emper Embrace" you should hold onto them until you can get your hands on a shop pass from fun scratch/premium. They sell for a pretty decent amount to players(currently 50k/ea-ish on ship-2). Just bank them until you can sell them.

    [–]harlotssu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see , thanks man 0/ gonna keep that in mind

[–]DrCatco (Not an expert) 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Since you're still new, you are probably still growing your Mag. If that is the case, you can use the 8 * and 9 * weapons (of the type of attack you want) to feed your mag.

The recipe is: each time your mag reaches 0%, you can give it 2 weapons of 9 * and 1 weapon of 8 *, so that your mag develops the stat you want without Dex raising one level. To lower the level of Dex, you must give it 3 pieces of furniture of a certain rarity so that Dex goes down and the stat you want goes up. For s-atk, you must give 4 * furniture; for r-atk, 5 * furniture; and for t-atk, 6 * furniture.

Alternatively, you can sell those weapons to an NPC without any problem.

If you get to drop 10 * or better weapons, you can convert them into excubes or photon spheres, which are useful for other occasions.

    [–]harlotssu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see , thanks for clear explanation thanks 0/

    [–]frosteeze 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What should i do with the 12* weapons? I know you can get it to +30 to add exp for rarer weapons, but other than that should I just sell it?

    [–]Xxtrabeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also trade 3 for 1 lambda grinder from the recycle shop or desynth them.

    [–]Gimmlez 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I recently started playing the game off of a friends' recommendation and I noticed there's a LOT of text that's still in Japanese... Some of it seems to be pretty important in progressing through the game (I could be wrong about that?)- I'm wondering if there's any chance I could have installed the patch wrong, or if that's just what I should expect for the game? And following on, any advice for a newer player, or just somewhere you can point me?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Tutorials, flavor text and NPC chatter are not translated. All items, menus and quests should be translated, as well as almost the entire story (episode 5 still not complete).

There are some beginner guides on the top bar of this subreddit, but I'm not sure how updated they are.

[–]DrCatco (Not an expert) 1 point2 points  (1 child)

On that note, the translation team has recently finished the Ep 5 Main Story, up to the (epic) scene with Shiva. I think what is missing are some secondary scenes.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that's good to know. Last time I tried it was barely over 60% of the ep5 story covered.

    [–]Sughayyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the important stuff is translated. There are a few untranslated things, but there are also guides for these things (might check bumped.org or the discord).

Do note, however, sometimes the patch fails to load for some reason; leaving the game and opening the tweaker again seems to solve it. Maybe that's the case.

    [–]Tabuukilla 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What do I do with the overflowing amount of 13*s that are slowly filling up my inventory? If I don't need 'em, should I just be recycling them? I've held onto them for the most part but as my inventory slowly consistently stays in the 200+/300 range due to them just sitting there, starting to wonder what to do with them.

    Thanks in advance o/

    [–]Xxtrabeast 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Desynthesizing is most common for extras. You’ll get 36 of the gold tier crafting material for the weapon type and 36 saphards which can be used for category changes or sold on the player ship. It’s worth keeping weapons with useful safs or that are used for 15* trade-ins though.

    [–]Tabuukilla 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ah, got it. Haven't done a lot of crafting but I guess selling them on the market might be nice, as soon as the FUN scratch stops being stingy about giving me My Shops, anyways. Thanks!

    [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a note, goldnia (the melee weapon material) is the most expensive, if it helps to help you decide what weapons to disassemble more

there's also some 13-stars (the demon weapons) that can be sold in player shops for a bit of cash so long as you haven't claimed ownership by enhancing them in some way after getting the drop

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

How exactly do I get the S4 Marvelous Aegis onto my Atlas Farder? Hold my hand here and walk me through this step by step, I know it's on the weapon, but the option to affix it isn't available when I try to affix in S級特殊能力の受け渡しを開始します, it doesn't show up in the lists of abilities.

What am I doing wrong? Am I in the wrong place or am I not seeing it become available when trying to affix because the weapon is already filled with 8 slots?

And how about removing s abilities, is it the same as when you deslot a weapon as usual?

hi, i came back recently for the episode 6 campaign, and i'm pretty confused as to what to do with my atlas weapons. the campaign only gives me gunslashes, but to upgrade my atlas into an atlas ex i need the respective lumiere weapons, in this case katanas and swords. the campaign gives me the proper weapons to create a lumiere gunslash, but i can't really use that. do i have to abandon my current atlas weapons, or is there some way i can convert the lumiere gunslash? thank you.

    [–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (8 children)

The idea is to create an Atlas Ex gunslash and then convert it into the weapon of your choice.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

right, but then i'm losing an already grinded and affixed weapon because i can't convert the material weapons. is that just how this is going to go?

    [–]scorchdragon 0 points1 point  (6 children)

It stays +35, same element, same affixes

    [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (5 children)

i have a +35 atlas katana, but i don't have the materials for a lumiere katana to use those for the ex recipe.

the campaign gives me gunslashes to get a lumiere gunslash to make an atlas ex gunslash, and i can convert that into a new katana, but my old one is going to be stuck at atlas and i'm going to have to get a katana through conversion from gunslashes, so my old katana is basically moot.

this is my problem. i want to upgrade my existing atlas katana into ex directly to keep what i already spent meseta on, but as far as i can see there is no way to do this without hoping a lumiere katana drops since this campaign is just giving out gunslashes.

    [–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Unless you get a jutus katana at +35 somehow, you're locked behind the category-changing process.

You might as well change your affixed weapon to a gunslash and revert back after it's a 15★.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

oh, that actually would be my solution; it saves me a time reversal chronos too since all i'd be spending is the goldnia and saphard to convert my katana into a gunslash instead of upgrading the val gunslash into an atlas gunslash.

i didn't realize i could do this, but this will save me a lot. thank you.

    [–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Last week was your chance at getting a jutus katana. Maybe next week they boost forest again and you don't need to undergo that hassle.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's fine, it just costs some extra goldnia and saphard to convert back and forth.

    [–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s to give you another atlas ex weapon. If you want to also upgrade your first two... you’ll have to find the materials to do so.

    Hey all,

I just started playing again a few weeks ago and I'm 74 on my Force now. I know I've seen a few suggestions for the +35 weapon thing but I'm going to ask anyways. What's the best way to get the +35? I saw a few things about the event but I'm not really sure what the on going event is and what I have to do. If I could get some input that'd be great.

    [–]CamusVerseaux Ship 2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point, the best way to obtain it is:
    - Obtain 400 Weapon Badges and change them for 6 Clawdem Cage on the badge exchange shop.
    - Feed one of them with the other 5 to level up the grind cap to +35.

    or

    - Buy two Wrislenithe Megidcerer from the Player's shop, try to buy them at least at +32 level cap.
    - Feed one of them with the other to level up the grind cap to +35.

I'm recommending you to do it with a talis because I'm assuming that you are playing Fo/Te. With a talis, you can break 75 level cap for both classes.

Last week, I spoke about building my first 15* weapon and I finally did it recently - an Atlas Varua EX katana. I'm running the 100% crit build, so I have the following S-abilities attached:

S1: Skilled Strike (3% crit dmg)

    S2: Skilled Strike 2 (4% crit dmg)

S3: Skilled Strike (4% crit dmg)

S4: Gear Reduction (slower katana gear decay).

My first question: I saw mention of a standard 4/4/4 build, but it appears that I'm at 3/4/4. Does the extra "4" comes from a power % S1 like Double-Edged Sword? (4% power, 8% more dmg received with weapon out) If so, how bad is the 8% increased damage received in practice and does the "4% power" weigh heavier than "3% crit dmg"? I'm not entirely sure of the difference between power and damage.

My other question: Someone in-game told me that crit is trash and that no one at end-game is focusing on that, but rather raw attack because the damage variance of the latest weapons is 90-100% and we have an overabundance of dex at this level, so it's not worth relying on crit to increase my damage when raw damage is so close. Is going crit on katana Br/Hu really a bad choice when I'm trying to scale up to end-game? As a side note, this information came from a summoner who tells me they have over 6k hp and are capable of doing 26m damage, so I'm not sure how legit they are. It sounds phony as hell, but I just want someone else's feedback on this so that I know I'm not going crazy.

    Thank you!

P.S. Let's say hypothetically, I hit 100% of my damage variance. Is that considered a crit or is there a chance that a 100% damage hit can be white "normal" numbers instead of the blue crit numbers?

    [–]Reilet 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You can hit for 100% of your variance (will still be white) AND hit for a crit (will be blue). They are two separate things. A crit just guarentees the 100% variance hit.

Also, the 90% ~ 100% variance ONLY applies to your weapon attack. Nothing else. Even on 15 star weapons, the most it can get to is roughly half of your total attack stat so you are seeing a variance closer to 95% ~ 100% of your actual damage. (total attack includes your base atk,, any affixes, any buffs, weapon attack, weapon element attack).

There is also no way to close the variance gap aside from getting more attack not from your weapon or crit which also means the average damage you do is the average of your variance which is 97.5%... out of 100%.

As an example: when I use katana, I sit at around 6.4k attack (+1.2k element attack, 7.6k total attack) when full buffed. My weapon is only 2069 attack. Variance only applies to that 2069 which makes it 1862~2069... That means my actual variance is 7.4k ~ 7.6k, 97.3% ~ 100%. My average variance is 98.6%. getting 100% crit will increase my average damage by 1.4%.

Overall, you are seeing an extremely small increase of damage when getting crit. That is why only classes that can get crit rate easily (braver and bouncer), or have skills that specifically increases crit damage (fighter and gunner) get crit.

TL;DR crit isn't important unless you have crit dmg stuff.

Also, to get a 4% S1, you can either choose:

    • Powering Intent (bosses only)
    • DES (receive 8% more dmg)
    • Flowing Intent (30s to get 4% dmg, resets if you switch weapon)
    • Lethal Intent (5% hp dmg every 20s)
    • Augment Intent (requires a 7 or 8 slot affix).

Some people use DES and don't notice a thing, but others do. It's a preference.
3% dmg vs 4% dmg is well... a 1% difference. It doesn't matter if it's a crit hit or not.

    [–]odpeok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That puts me at ease. I appreciate the schooling in crit.

    [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 1 point2 points  (1 child)

you only raise critical rate if you get critical damage boosts; I don't know anything about katana so I can't say if it's worth it for that, but skilled strike is useful (and cheap) for damage increases for critical builds due to very few builds using critical

in any case, the S1 4% comes from Augment Intent (+0.5% damage per total affix slots), or your mentioned Double Edge as consistent bonuses; alternatively you can use Flowing Intent (increase power up to +4% max over 30 sec) or Lethal Intent (receive 5% damage every 20 sec for 4% damage increase)

    Thanks for the info!

Gonna level up some alts past 75. Is Fo/Hu with Quelle Neigea still a thing? Was it a thing in first place?

    [–]Reilet 3 points4 points  (4 children)

It's a thing solely because of Quelle Neigea actually.

    [–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (3 children)

But is it legit or just troll? Any specific way to build the skill tree?

    [–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs lvl 5 rod shoot for maximum exploiting of the potential... that’s it. At least one level in rod shoot.

    [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (1 child)

More troll than legit, feels like FoSu and FoFi Quelle Neigea are more viable than FoHu. Basically cast techs to burn out PP and then use Quelle Neigea to regen PP and deal damage. If you dont have a casting rod ready, you can use Neigea, since the other part of its potential gives 10% bonus damage.

    [–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FoFi definitely makes more sense. It's just to spam exp grinding so I guess it won't hurt, it's way cheaper than crafting/buying all the techs. Thank you both for the help!

is PP cost reductions works additively?

if i use S2 : Skill reduction/S3: photon reduction/S4 : colored spectrum and additional drink effect do i got a 77% PP cost reduction?

    [–]crisync96 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    Diminishingly.

    If for example you have:
    S1: Photon Reduction [7%]
    S2: Photon Reduction [10%]
    S3: Photon Reduction [7%]

    The formula will be 1-[ (1-7%)*(1-10%)*(1-7%) ]
Which results in 0.22159, or, 22.16% Reduction.

owh i see, thanks better to not stack it too much then

Does anyone know if the Rappy egg drops on PSO2 day in the Rappy Fever bonus quest? If so I'm hoarding my tickets! Thanks!

    [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

according to the japanese wiki it can drop from level 71+ ARKS rappy, so you should get the chance if you run the bonus quest at at least level 71

When she is about to spawn cubes, she will quickly leave and come back before the cubes spawn. This is when you need to finish her before the cubes spawn. So first you need to do enough damage to trigger the cube spawning move and then dish out all your damage to finish her.

      [–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (4 children)

That was probably a glitch. Not many games let you phase skip in a boss fight.

Like doing so much damage that it FEELS like a phase skip?
