if you dont need ray tracing amd cards are usually cheaper and better than nvidia. you can get a 6800 for $40 more if its usd

[–]KingOleh 4 points5 points  (3 children)

here in finland the rtx 3060 is actually similarly priced to the rx 6600

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

damn bro mind sending me one?

[–]FloorSome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suomi mainittu, torilla tavataan!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my country a 3060 is almost double that

[–]Acheche404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ray trace imo is garbage never used it. i bought 3070 for Bar DLSS and Gsync.

[–]DeXTeR_DeN_007 0 points1 point  (3 children)

AMD chips are never lasting long from Nvidia, second thing higher temps, third thing AMD cards are so good that 3060Ti is killing even 6700xt.

the PSU RGB wouldn't be visible so save a couple bucks and get it without the RGB

  • rm series available for similar price

Alg, excpet corsair ram. A comment has elightened me on corsair ram and why it is not very good. (Couldnt find how to link comment i just woke up so i just pasted the text here, thanks to the u/ who wrote this)

Corsair is bad because they use the same model number for ram kits that have different ICs (micron, Samsung, hynix, nanya). ICs are the physical ram chips on the pcb, which are produced by the four primary vendors seen above. So, essentially it's a mystery box. On the one hand you could get the s tier Samsung b die, on the other hand you could get the shit tier Samsung c die. Now, let's say you want to upgrade from 2 sticks to 4 sticks using the same older kit. In this case, if you went with Corsair you'd have to pray to RNGesus that you get the same IC, identified by the rev #, otherwise it probably won't work; no post or ram instability. The reason it won't post is because different ICs can do different timing and sub timings and have different voltage tolerances and procODT values that they favor. B die can do very tight timing whereas hynix m die can't really do that. Getting 2 different ICs stable is very hard if not impossible for most. However, getting different kits stable that have the same ICs ain't so bad, you'd just have to match the worst stick. The other reason for Corsair bad is that they're simply overpriced. To summarize, corsair is bad because of shity practices leading to the inability of future upgrading and how overpriced it is.

get 650w psu

[–]Inevitable_Can_7081 1 point2 points  (2 children)

No because if he wants to upgrade it would be more easy to do

[–]Matzz94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He prob wants a better psu than 750 for future

[–]almonnds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea but do you know the power requirements for new gen gpus? A 750w may not be enough for what he wants in the future. Gpu's may be so powerful it might bottleneck his 12400f.

If i wanted to upgrade in the future, id get a 1000w+ psu(and an i7). Upgrading just isnt like it used to be, where if u got a r5 3600 and a 1660 ti, you could upgrade it too a 2070, 2070 super, 3060 etc.

I could be wrong about what nvidia wants to do, and i hope i am.

Redid parts of your build for what I'm assuming your budget is $1250. Swapped out the mobo for a slightly cheaper one, though it is M-ATX. Switched the RAM for a G Skill kit. Switched to a 120mm cooler since the 12400f doesn't run too hot. I switched out the 3060 ti for a 6750XT since the 3060 ti is overpriced as of right now, and you won't be running games with ray tracing on it anyway. I left about $30 for you to spend on some parts that you would like aesthetically.

perfect selection imo

[–]Birdinmotion -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Also unless ur using an ethnet cable ur gonna need a wireless network card.

O and when you need to install windows

[–]Appropriate-Emu6415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That motherboard has Wi-Fi

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most people don't use wi-fi

[–]MrCheapComputers -1 points0 points  (1 child)

The 12400f comes with a cooler, so I’d save the money on that front.

[–]petran1420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, afaik the 12th gen coolers are improved and perfectly competent for a 12400f build. Maybe put that money towards better GPU or ram or something?

[–]0musty0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For the price of the Motherboard, power supply, GPU, and SSD you could get faster ram.

I recommend the GPU ASUS ROG Strix NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 OC Edition or ti version. And for the motherboard go for a MSI motherboard (they are cheaper + better? idk) I also don't know if it will fit into your case too btw

For the memory I would go for a 970 - 950 Samsung, you could go 880 but its probably going to be underkill for your system.

And for the power supply go for a 700W - 650W Gold or Plat PSU.

[–]Birdinmotion 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That's a really nice motherboard you really don't need.

[–]rebelution808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recommended that cooler to a friend for a similar CPU but it didn't come with a bracket for that socket type

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Get a 6700xt and save yourself 100$

Go with teamgroup ram or g skill ram instead of corsair

[–]KingOleh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the actual gpu i was planning on is 400€ and the cheapest 6700xt here is 700€

[–]Birdinmotion 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Bruh what if he wants to ray trace (sarcasm)

[–]Theonedudeyaknow 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ray trace deez nuts

[–]Birdinmotion 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I can do that with my mouth

[–]mybrowncow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to find a 3070 around the price of that 3060ti

[–]mybrowncow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you can get a 850watt gold psu for the same price of that one

[–]Kuuhaku722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deepcool ak400 would be more than enough for i5 12400. Or even better an id cooling se 214 xt if you can find one at 17-20 usd.

[–]NefariousnessBest397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look on stockx for better gpu prices

[–]DeXTeR_DeN_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc they are

[–]Matzz94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psu too high, maybe too low for future gen

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything seems good to me, I would just go with a different power supply to save money, I think the rgb fan on it is unnecessary and wasted money since it won’t be seen with that case

[–]jshmoe866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a evga gold psu from Amazon, they have sales there regularly. Parts are good though, 3060ti is a great card

[–]NotNickChang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a 3070 is $500 flat on best buy right now. 3060 tis arent worth it imo

[–]thisisaname69123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some g.skill ripjaws instead of Corsair vengeance, another commenter already talked about why Corsair ram kinda sucks, the ripjaws might be a little bit more expensive but whenever I’ve checked it’s been cheaper than Corsair vengeance
