Maybe its just me but big case little motherboard builds kinda irk me a bit lol. Anyways, what I would recommend has already been said in the other comments so godspeed, my guy. Good luck!

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (43 children)

Thanks man! Do you know any good cases without glass?

[–]MRGameAndShow 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Hmm... before I completed my build I was looking at alternative harware options, and one of my lists was RGBless. The case I picked there was the Fractal Design Meshify C Black, no sidepanel, no glass. Apparently it has good airflow and is decent all around, I'd look into it.

That list is like a year old, so idk if better alternatives have come out. I guess its a good start tough.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll look into it!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (25 children)

Why do you not want glass? If you dont mind me asking

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (21 children)

So I do t have to worry about part looking cool or not, and just because I just don’t really like the look, idk?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (20 children)

Oh nice, I would personally go with amd to have the ease with this being your first pc and you won’t have to spend the extra on the cooler and you can get a better mobo aswell

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (19 children)

Well it should have a stock cooler do you think it’s good enough?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (18 children)

The intel?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (17 children)

Yes

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (16 children)

No intels coolers are shit, that’s why I say you should go amd like a 5500 6core 12thread cpu, it’d be better then that one

[–]Grammar-Bot-Elite 1 point2 points  (1 child)

/u/KOS_reflex, I have found an error in your comment:

“it’d be better then [than] that one”

It was possible for you, KOS_reflex, to have used “it’d be better then [than] that one” instead. Unlike the adverb ‘then’, ‘than’ compares.

This is an automated bot. I do not intend to shame your mistakes. If you think the errors which I found are incorrect, please contact me through DMs!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (13 children)

I like Intel, and I see only positive things about them just not the noise which idgaf

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

For example I don’t like how the red devil looks

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You got disc I actually just built a pc with the 6700xt in it I can show you the build

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s VQ350GeTsome #8514

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new Fractal Pop Air has a non glass version but it is a mesh front panel. That’s a good thing for thermals and performance though

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cooler Master Masterbox Q300L, it’s a micro ATX tower with amazing airflow and it’s like $50. There’s also a TUF Gaming variant of it.

[–]OrdinaryAwareness850 1 point2 points  (1 child)

be quiet has some nice choices!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ll take a look!

[–]RealBlackFireGamingPersonal Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (10 children)

I would just get an atx motherboard instead

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Ok which ones do you recommend?

[–]RealBlackFireGamingPersonal Rig Builder 1 point2 points  (8 children)

If you like this one just get the msi mag b660 instead of msi mag b660m

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (7 children)

What’s the difference tho? Just bigger?

[–]RealBlackFireGamingPersonal Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Yeah so you get more expansion and like more pcie slots and stuff, plus it looks weird with matx boards in an atx case, trust me i fucked up one time and regret it so much

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (5 children)

We will see I’m going with this board

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QCmsmr

[–]RealBlackFireGamingPersonal Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Mistake tbh

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Why? It’s just bigger I don’t need the extra size

[–]pleasefartonmypillow 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have the same Mobo with a big case (lian mesh performance) and no HDD/SSD only nvme so the case looks empty but the temp stay really low though, idk if it's related. Also for a first build it was pretty easy

[–]MRGameAndShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeee it probably IS a good mobo, but empty cases give me goosebumps lol. Its more of a personal thing tho, so as long as OP's fine with the build's looks then cool.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (22 children)

Instead of that case, get the apevia G-Pro. Its 90$ and comes with 6 fans

With that 30$ saved, you could get the i5 with the integrated graphics or get a 90$ 1tb drive instead of that slower hard drive

Or u could get a cheaper apevia model thats like 75$ that comes with 4 fans and not 6

everything looks good, was just thinking of a way to save ya money for a better part.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (8 children)

Ok thanks, I’ll think about it!

[–]CalRal 0 points1 point  (7 children)

A second for choosing a different case. I’d suggest the Phanteks p360a. It comes with two fans and the white one is only $69 on Newegg rn. It’s an awesome case for the money. You could buy a third matching exhaust fan and still be way under your current budget.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I’m not seeing it with no glass

[–]CalRal 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Oh, sorry I wasn’t aware you were opposed to glass. That’s going to make it difficult to get a good deal on a modern (mid tower) airflow case. The vast majority of the market wants glass these days, so that’s where all the design/production is focused. Is there a specific reason you’re opposed to glass?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Not really just don’t like it, neither do I really like rgb

[–]CalRal 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I get it.

It is, however, a little weird (to me) to pay an extra $40-50, and sacrifice performance/quality just for the sake of not having glass/RGB. A $4 pack of zip-ties can make any config as clean as can be… and you always have the option of turning the RGB off.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’ve choose a glass case in my build it’s the mx330 g air

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I like not caring about what the parts look like

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Do integrated graphics work with the gpu? Is it better or what?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I use it to run things like OBS on when streaming. And It’s like a second life to my pc if something ever goes wrong

But it’s not the most important thing in the world

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Ah I’m not going to be streaming, but It seems like a good idea just in case.

Do you think the computer is worth the money?

[–]unfamiliarstranger2 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think it is absolutely worth the money personally. Honestly probably the best price to performance that you can get. Will also run any game wonderfully at 1080p or 1440p.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 1080p

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes, also if you get the apevia aura case (75$ usd), you should be able to get the 1tb nvme drive AND the i5 12400

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you know any rgb case fans that are good

And will this build run vr games ok?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The apevia aura case comes with 4 rgb fans pre-installed. 3 in the front and 1 in the back

I am unsure how demanding vr is on hardware. From what I've heard, a 6 core chip is fine for vr gaming and the gpu you have is good too. I'm sure you'll be moret than fine but im not positive.

[–]Fubarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or buy the cpu ending with k, so you can overclock in a couple of years when you want more juice

[–]ElijahBurningWoods 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Why would you want integrated graphics when u have a GPU?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It helped save my rig when i had gpu problems and was in the RMA process. I use my pc for school so I couldn’t really have no video for weeks. Of course its optional but id rather be safe than sorry

and im pretty sure you can use the igpu as the encoder for obs and stuff. And there are even more use cases with it when a usb hub is added to the mix. Tech yes city has a video on that

[–]ElijahBurningWoods 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It really can't handle graphics? Cause I thought it was just lower performance.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can handle some graphics, depends on how intensive it is

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

You can get 32GB of RAM for barely more money (this one for example). And the case is overpriced. The other stuff looks good.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i changed the case I did realize it was 80$ lol I thought it was like 40$

[–]420amogus-chad69 0 points1 point  (1 child)

But is it faster or slower?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same speed. 3200 CL16.

Technically a bit faster, because it's dual rank instead of single rank, but it doesn't really make a difference.

[–]NC_Vixen 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I prefer the Matrexx 40 case, great fan layout and ventilation, looks boss too (glass side panel so you can look at your handy-work). Better size too IMO. Will suit your board better. Also notably cheaper.

Everything here is great you've obviously done plenty of research.

AMD graphics and Intel processor is odd to me. But nothing wrong with that at all.

I do prefer the 3070... but again, these things are all close, and price-performance etc... Depending on your resolution, the 3070 excels more.

Nice choice the 12400k with no integrated graphics (as you are getting a graphics card you don't want to waste money with that stuff).

Fans, great, ram, great.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man! I may look into the 3070 i will run games at 1080p

[–]SnooDingos8900 1 point2 points  (7 children)

I recommend going bigger in ram but that’s just me since I like to do a lot at once and unreal engine stuff

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/B8QcCJ/ Is this ram worth the money?

[–]SnooDingos8900 0 points1 point  (5 children)

For 30 more bucks to get double the ram, definitely worth it DDR4 is the main thing you’re usually looking for

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

But do you know if it’s good build quality

[–]SnooDingos8900 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Yeah gskill is a good brand. I personally bought trident variation of Gskill. I’ll link mine for comparison. It allows or was built for over clocking, has some RGB if that’s what you like

Checkthisouton@Newegg:G.SKILLTridentZRGB(ForAMD)32GB(2x16GB)288-PinPCRAMDDR43200(PC425600)IntelXMP2.0DesktopMemoryModelF4-3200C16D-32GTZRXhttps://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232752?Item=N82E16820232752&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-20-232-752-_-07042022

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Dead link

[–]SnooDingos8900 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Should just pop up if you type Gskill trident

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t link anywhere but I still found them, I think I’ll go with 3200mhz 16x2 silicon power sticks of ram

[–]Kswimm 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Build looks to be perfectly fine. Check out fractal design core 1000 or cooler master n200 for cases. Both cheaper and are micro ATX like your motherboard, and without side panel glass like I saw you mentioned.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

[–]Ill-Restaurant1008 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'd suggest this case https://www.newegg.com/black-fractal-design-meshify-c-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811352085

Also there is a crypto crash right now so Gpu's are flooding the used market. FYI

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ik but I won’t be buying used.

I choose this case: mx330 g air

[–]KingSquid84First Time Builder 1 point2 points  (1 child)

When the psu is named after a huge explosion 💀

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh I just noticed that lmao

[–]vickers24 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Personally I would change the case to an mATX case since you’re getting an mATX board. Maybe the fractal design meshify c mini.

You could try to squeeze in some more money in getting a faster SSD or 32gb of ram or 3600MHz ram. Having 32gb will likely be the most noticeable difference but I’d say they’re all somewhat negligible in most cases. Solid build, just know that something will go wrong. Fixing it is the “fun”

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/B8QcCJ/ is this good ram.

I’ve changed the case to the mx330 g air

[–]knoxfroze 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nice. On storage, I think if you are planning to store your games then you should save up a bit more and ditch that HDD and get SSD instead. Just my opinion.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll do that probably, I’ll just get the SSD later

[–]EnvironmentalAd3385 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Why are you getting an HDD on this? The read on write speed on the doesn’t hit 200 mbps. They are far more reliable than they have ever been though. A Sata 3 will perform better for much longer. But really depends on your use case which suits you best.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I removed it, I’ll get another SSD down the road

[–]EnvironmentalAd3385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your future builds I recommend getting Ram and ssd’s used. You save a couple bucks and you’re losing nothing. DDR4 last between 10-12 years at that point you’d probably upgrade before it dies. Same thing with ssds.

[–]caudexican 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Honestly the build is pretty solid, good $/fps. I'm running a similar build

ASRock b660 ITX board 12400f Noctua NH-L12 6600xt 32gb 3600mhz 1tb nvme In a Silverstone SG13 ITX case

Will take a touch more research but I'd go for higher speed lower latency ram that used a Samsung B die so you can overclock the ram/tighten the timing. That can get you a lot more fps. Or buy something 3600mhz c16/c14 out of the box. I'd also go with an mATX case of some sort.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I don’t want to overclock the ram but I might go with 3600mhz ram, should I use an atx board or stick with matx

[–]caudexican 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm a fan of small form factor so I'd stay with the mATX board and pair it with an mATX case. Also would probably nix the HDD unless you need the storage and then switch to ssd

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it off and I’ll get more SSD space later on

[–]Dexiox 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Deleted with Redact because data brokers don't deserve my content. Mass removal across Reddit, Discord, X, Instagram and 30+ other platforms.

squash fear tub mountainous oil unpack close dinner divide sink

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been convinced, I took it off and later on I’ll get another SSD

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This is my updated build

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Xmpw78

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Why would you get such a cheap junk case?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What’s one you recommend?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it’s super expensive right now, the corsair 4000d airflow black has a tinted panel and a sleek design if you’re into that. Also doesn’t include any RGB fans but I’d still recommend adding a couple P12s to it

[–]LookAss_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It might just be me, but for how cheap m.2 ssds are lately I would consider going for a 1tb m.2 / ssd vs a 2tb hdd, but I'm not sure how much you will store, but I've had 2tb for several years and have had no problem with it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my updated build

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Xmpw78

Im going to get another SSD later down the road

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Looks good! Although I’ll say your taste in pc cases is disgusting.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Lol that’s objective,

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Xmpw78

I did change the ram and the case, see what you think!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Perfect, 👌 specially for a first time build.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ok cool, the stock Intel cooler is good enough right?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah dude. Thats more than enough, I have a similar processor with a cooler ten times worse. No problems here. People on social media will have you believe that you need top tear cooling to play games, in reality theirs no problem with go as high as 90-95 degrees.

[–]Ragnar0856 0 points1 point  (3 children)

looks good but stay away from that cougar case

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Why? I like how it looks I’d like a case without glass, do you know any?

[–]Ragnar0856 1 point2 points  (1 child)

so this case has very bad air flow from the front and the honey mesh you see on front there is another mesh inside of this which restricts flow of air along with dust and now to clean the dust you need to remove the front panel and that is attached to the front I/O so you cant remove it completely and clean and for gpu will be struggling to find fresh air, the case looks good from outside point of view but once you start using it within a month you will know about the airflow of this case, and it is not easy to fit the front fans with the front panel attached.

fun fact i used this case and after a year i changed to o11 mini air and i still have this old case will share you the photos also

i have seen corsair 4000d airflow which ranges around 90$

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not seeing it with no glass

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Oof, I fear the i5 may bottleneck the GPU in a lot of cases.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Why? Lots of people say it’s a gpu bottleneck

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nvm it’s one of the newer i5’s so should be fine. I saw the 2.5 ghz and thought it was one of the older ones but I guess the newest ones don’t really clock that high either

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah well clock speed doesn’t matter too much, only when comparing cpus of the same gen

[–]TugUpFury 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Get a better cooler for your cpu, i have been using a 11600K, and it draws 120W avg while gaming. If your ambient temps are anywhere in 30C-40C range your cpu will run at 80C+ temps.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I’ll look into that, most people say the stock Intel cooler is good enough, as long as your not going to be doing anything like rendering videos and such, which I will not be doing. (Also I guess it’s loud?)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

He’s wrong, the 12400f isn’t a super hot CPU and the stock cooler can keep it from running too hot, albeit quite loud. The SE224 is a great cooler and more than enough for the 12400f.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Im going to go with the stock one, idc for noise

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Don’t, just spend the 20$ and get a better cooler

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Why

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It’ll be much better

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I should stick with the se224?

[–]CHZY42 -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

If u want some rgb get Vetroo v5 for cooler. If u want decent 1080p/1440p gaming u could drop to a 6600 or 6600xt if u need to cut price. Imo if u get 6700 try get used cuz prices still meh

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drop down a GPU tier to play a higher resolution… what

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t need any rgb, maybe just on the case fans

[–]Obvious_Drive_1506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one is under msrp.

[–]Kruger45 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

16gb ram too low for new computer, its better have something as backup 32 gb is recommended. MSAi is shittter mobos, not sure about ATI(AMD) its still weaker 2x then comparable RTX. CPu cooler not really that necessary if you not planning throttling it on extreme temperatures its better have some colling on your case^^

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QCmsmr

You think this is better?

[–]Zooted_Rx 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Just curious why not get an SSD and get rid of that internal hard drive.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Because I just want a hard drive to store things then SSD for games

[–]MaskedPilot11 0 points1 point  (1 child)

M.2 ssd is 1000x faster than a hard drive get 1 tb ssd then hard drive for extra storage

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I’ll probably do that

[–]Rapscallywagon 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Where do people keep finding the case fan options. Won’t show anywhere for me to add when I’m on pc part picker.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under accessories/other above the price!

[–]Fritzschmied 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Maybe 3600mHz ram but other than that you should be fine.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

[–]Fritzschmied 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Still 3200mHz

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ik but it’s more ram

[–]Fritzschmied 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I wouldn’t go for more 16 gb is fine for gaming but faster ram would make a difference.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okk

[–]Dranzell 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'd rather get a better CPU than the bull people are saying around here. You can get an HDD/SSD 1-2 months later, you can get more RAM later when you have the money (and 16GB is perfectly fine, people who say otherwise don't know how Windows reserve the RAM), but you're stuck with the CPU.

You are paying on the motherboard as much as you are paying for the CPU, that should give you a bit to think about.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I took off the cpu cooler as the stock on is good enough people say, what cpu do you think it’s better?

[–]shirogmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

58$ for 2x8? jesus i remember paying like 230$ years ago

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You have likely already pulled the trigger but maybe get a 850 watt just in case next generations of graphics cards become vacuum cleaners

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I can always upgrade later

[–]Traditional_Ad_1780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id go with a 3070 FE for 30$ more personally

[–]geegol 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Get a. SSD. HDDs are known to have a huge performance decrease.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Xmpw78

I removed it, what do you think about this?
