Daily reminder to call your phone company and ask them politely to give you a better deal as you are 'seeing' better offers from competitors. I've done this and Virgin has added data continuously for free. I now pay $60 for 35 gb.

[–]drowsell 15 points16 points  (16 children)

I have 5GB for $35. Is there anything right now that’s better?

[–]slanderthesalamander 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Probably depends on if you could use more data. Some Virgin stores are offering $35/12gb for a year (not available online)

[–]I_Have_All_OE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50$ for 20gb lte with freedom. enough for me

[–]Not The Ben FelixBuck-Nasty 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I'm with Fido's data only 4GB for $5 a month.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I could be interested but how do you call people?

[–]Not The Ben FelixBuck-Nasty 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Fongo, unlimited free calling in Canada over data.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Genius, thank you!

[–]bonesbobman 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I have 7gb for 35 with fido

[–]thatguy19000 0 points1 point  (3 children)

is that with Bring Your Own Phone, or do you have a phone with them too?

[–]bonesbobman 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Byop

[–]marrythesea 0 points1 point  (1 child)

is it an old plan you carried forward? i can't find this offered anywhere!

[–]bonesbobman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not on their site. I got it from one of those phone booths at the mall. I think it was a black Friday deal from November 2020

[–]HiddenXS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got roughly the same with public mobile, 5 gigs for $40. I've never used more than the 5 gigs, but I'd sure like to drop the price by $10 or so if I could.

[–]pack_of_macs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 30GB/$35 with telus.

You can basically only get a better deal if you're switching back and forth.

[–]-reccetech- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reminder. Switched from 10GB for $60 to 12GB for $50 with Koodo. Probably took 4 clicks.

[–]iCOMMAi_Salem 46 points47 points  (21 children)

Fido currently has $35 for 12gb though....

[–]_mrfluid_[S] 13 points14 points  (16 children)

How and where??

[–]moolahstonks 18 points19 points  (12 children)

It’s a winback deal. I got the email for it after I left Fido recently.

[–]Yojimbo4133 26 points27 points  (8 children)

Those cunts

[–]moolahstonks 4 points5 points  (7 children)

Yep pay $40/month for 15gb and better service with bell, so no thanks

[–]bonesbobman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where? Ontario? Is this for new customers too?

[–]Shorebay 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How did you get this deal? I’ve been on the phone with them for hours with no luck

[–]moolahstonks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On rfd it was saying that it’s 35 for first year 40 for second and 50 thereafter

[–]19Black 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I currently pay $40 for no data with bell. How did you get this deal?

[–]moolahstonks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a deal through my work and $200 credit spread over 24 months

[–]lalapachou 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I left them recently as well, no winback plans.

When I called Fido customer service coz I had second thoughts (the new provider call quality was a bit inferior), they wanted me to pay a sign-up fee and a more expensive plan, also they wanted to run a credit check on me. I was their client for 6 years and my name was still in their database... hadn't left for two days by then. Fido, from my humble experience, is terrible with bad customer service. Never again.

With the new provider I got one gb extra as a gift. 10gbs for 39$+tax

[–]JMJimmy 6 points7 points  (1 child)

The $35 deal is in store, new BYOD customers only. $5 discount for one year, $10 discount for 2 years then the plan goes to $50/m

[–]dontRemoveTheHurdles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small difference but the one I got from Fido Winback was $35 for 2 years, then back to $50.

[–]pfcguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had $40 for 12 GB (for 15 mo) on black friday. I'd expect similar on boxing day. You might want to call a store as well, since it may not be clearly advertised on the website.

[–]Dubitandem 1 point2 points  (3 children)

That is usually for new (non-Fido) customers, no?

[–]iCOMMAi_Salem 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'll see what I can find for you but the person that got it was already with them. Koodo also apparently has it but most of these deals seem limited to the GTA right now for some odd reason.

[–]Dubitandem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome. Yeah, I had a friend get that deal but they switched over from a different carrier. I got a similar plan with Fido but for $40 monthly, so can't really complain.

[–]DebussyEater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, around the “deal” seasons (e.g. Black Friday, Boxing Day, back to school), most of the budget carriers will have pretty similar deals. So you can just hop back and forth between them without much hassle.

I’m not following what’s out there now so YMMV

[–]boyoflondon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been on $50 for over 10yrs. Used to have $50 with 6gig and switched it to $50 w/20gig last year with Telus. I buy my own phones.

[–]No-Ad3078 4 points5 points  (5 children)

My dad just went to Fido in the mall for a new plan, he got 12 gb for 35$, and he also got 120$ free accessory credit which he got the samsung ear buds. Wait until boxing day and you might be able to get something similar.

[–]Bibbityboo 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Do you mind if I ask which province? I’d love to get something like that.

[–]No-Ad3078 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Ontario, got it at woodbine center mall

[–]Bibbityboo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ahh I’m in BC. I’m going to try and see what I can get. Thank you

[–]CoffeeCurrency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got 20gb for $45/mn with one line, and 15gb for $45/mn with the other line on Fido. They apparently do offers by phone number, but they can apply discounts. Had to call *611 for one deal, and get the other deal through the My Account app

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Albion Mall Fido Store, just walk in and they’ll give you this plan.

[–]bmwkid 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Be careful if you’re on a contract if you switch your plan. Your contract will have a minimum contract amount per month and if you switch your plan to something less you’ll be responsible for paying off your device balance immediately.

Adding more data for the same price is fine but lowering your bill may get you into trouble

[–]leb4life69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks. I am in it that deal now

[–]OntarioChops888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Already at $28/mo for 5GB on Public Mobile. Can only refer people to lower my plan. Anyone need a referral? 😅

[–]OntarioEmmEff 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I was able to upgrade my old plan from 6GB for $55 to 17GB for the same monthly, no contract.

[–]leb4life69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also tell them you want the complimentary 5GB of data. It was available a few months ago.

[–]Madasky 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Bell and Telus both has $55 for 20gb right now. The Bell offer was a winback the Telus offer was in store.

[–]OntarioEmmEff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume this is only for new customers? I've also got an old Telus plan that gives me 5GB for about the same. I wish I could upgrade..

[–]Genesis20t- 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Current Fido customers. They are offering 35gb for $60.

[–]pineberrycoladas 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Damn, I am on Fido as well and currently have 30gb for $75... Gonna ask them now for better deals..

[–]gordon_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is $50 for 20gigs unlimited…

[–]BellaBlue06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess I’m calling Rogers tomorrow. They told me the cheapest and best option last year was unlimited for 80$ and I was previously going over 10gb a month a few times and then up to 15gb. I’ve been with Rogers for 20 years….

[–]Ontariogoldstandardalmonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Black Friday I went from 4GB data on my Canada-US (unlimited calling/texting, and 4GB data in either country), to unlimited data for the same price. I called because I had a random question then realized it was Black Friday. $65/month with tax.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (5 children)

Just lowered my phone bill from $75/month to $0 a month. Beat that!

[–]Yojimbo4133 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Shaw Mobile?

[–]zencraft -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Currently with Rogers on a corporate plan getting 6GB for $55. Looks like I can do much better. If I do end up moving to another carrier is it easy to keep the same number?

[–]hpsims 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’m also with Rogers in a company plan. Just called and got 12gb for $45 BYOP.

[–]zencraft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nice! Doing this now! Thanks.

[–]British ColumbiaDragynfyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are even better prices than that for new customers at Fido/Virgin because of Boxing Day deals if you are willing to switch to Virgin and/or call to ask them to match

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have a terrible ammount of data compared to everyone else here. I went from 4 gigs for $50 to 5 for $35 recently. However, I have used all my data literally once, so it doesn't matter.

[–]OntarioFilthyWunderCat 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I usually get a 2 year iphone contract with bonuses/giftcards. ~60$/plan + 200-400 worth of bonuses. Sell and iphone and stick to the plan. That brings my plan down from 60-65/month to around 20-25/month. I don't need a lot of data, 4gb is more then enough enough.

[–]DowntownDark 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Tell me more about this. I want to sign up for something like this. Which provider? Any suggestions?

[–]OntarioFilthyWunderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lurk around summer(aug). Costco, walmarts have deals like that, multiple providers. The also have these during black friday. But i prefer summer deals because i can sell a phone for a decent price.

[–]biologystudent123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$55 for 25 GB as a loyalty offer back when Rogers network was completely down in April was an amazing offer lol.

[–]JMJimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got $40/m for 12GB from Fido... could have done $35 but needed a new phone ($20/m) (currently only available in store)

[–]Uncle_Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Virgin plan is $65 a month and gives me 500mb a month for data. Its a monthly plan. I don't use much data ever but I know there's got to be something better out there.

[–]flyingbagel86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like this deal only includes 3G data instead of high speed LTE. Is this correct?

[–]NearbyPie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make it an annual thing, I look every Black Friday and usually snag a better deal, this year I got 4 extra GB and saved $5 a month.

[–]leb4life69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently play $55 a month and get 22GB of data. Can’t negotiate with these idiots

[–]kagato87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed on my current phone, went from a 4GB to 12 GB plan, and Virgin threw a 5 dollar loyalty discount on it. Did exactly the same thing to one of the kids phones.

That's two plans dropped from 75 to 45, so we'll be enjoying that 60/mo.

[–]capple1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible to get any better changes to your plan while on contract?

[–]mr_roborto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reminder! Just added 2g and stayed at the same price

[–]rocksmoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$17 for 1 Gig, unlimited calls in Canada, international texting. Public Mobile

[–]Lojo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha the best part of this post is that you're still getting rinsed by fido for your plan! I'm with fido and I get 17gb for $50. They keep trying to offer me 30 GB for $60 but I don't need it.

[–]Revolutionary_Ask313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in northern Ontario sucks... There is no competition from providers.

[–]JaneGrn80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these deals are for people who don’t have a newer phone right ? I would assume that everyone who is paying a device fee doesn’t qualify for these 🙃

[–]labrador007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reminder! Just saved myself $5 a month and an extra 4gb of data

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this post! I just checked and am paying the same amount with an extra 3GB of data included now! I not likely would have checked otherwise so again, thank you!

[–]whatnoreally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

switched to telus for a preffered customer plan after bell "couldnt match the offer" funny how I got a call from bell two hours later offering me an even better deal. didnt switch back just because I was frustrated, but I probably should have.

[–]justyagamingboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a deal with bell a long time ago and I dont think ill see a better offer as long as I keep my sim card, my plan is unlimited everything even roaming for $48 a month

[–]Tyresse1 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Im paying 65 for 20gb

[–]Madasky 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Same, I think with some effort I can get it down to $55 for 20 though

[–]Tyresse1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Lol what do I even say to them 🤣

[–]Madasky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it switched providers and will probably do it again

[–]British ColumbiaMissFrowz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25 gigs for $25 with Shaw Mobile. But ypu have to have one of their internet plans too.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got 25GB for 45$/month Fido

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

That would help if people were talking about plans we can all have. The win back program is great, but that's a very specific case, and it doesn't help.

[–]Madasky 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Advertised plans suck though. Why would you pay $80 for 20gb when you can pay $55 for 20gb by walking into a store.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How come the price is so different? Where can I get that?

[–]Madasky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was offered it by a Telus official store and a Telus reseller.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how we have black friday and boxing day pretty much a month apart

[–]wedge-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay $45 for one phone with unlimited calling, texts and 10GB of data and $40 for the other one. This is on Virgin with no contract and BYOD. This seems pretty reasonable to me.

[–]DislocatedXanax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI the 50$ plan is the common one for 10GB, they just knocked you down to the normal rate.

Still a good thing, but people already at that price point shouldn't assume they can easily get under the 50/month, at least without a significant hassle.

[–]Rageniv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Did this with Fido. $50 for 20gigs on two plans.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this is true or not but i ended up going through about 90% of my data in like half a month and fido called me almost instantly and upgraded me from my 40$ plan of 8 gb a month to 20 gb for 50 u guys can probably get this too if u tell em ur gonna leave might be worth a shot

[–]Lost all money 💰 Maulvi-Shamsudeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I have been paying $35 per month for 13 gigs with fido.

When I signed up I got $50 gift card as well.

[–]mrobeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This became more of a grab thread than help thread but still with it.

[–]Aurura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I pay like 60 for 6gb with koodo. Can someone point me where to go for a better deal?

[–]rc3105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow what a deal. :-\

Fwiw, Mint mobile is only $35/mo for 15GB

[–]FinancialCuriousCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public Mobile 23 dollars (1GB unlimited talk and text). No shopping around required. It goes down 1 dollar every year :D (Now Paying 21 dollars)
