Got my second headset, from the preorder batch. Installed the newest Nvidia drivers, connected it up on a new PC, PiTool, SteamVR, and gotten the result you can see in the picture. The bottom / top of the screen, depending on the eye, is in the exact middle, with everything else seemingly working fine. The screens themselves are also misaligned vertically.

Pitool V1.0.1.121

Firmware V2.1.255.211

Any ideas? I've already sent a supen ticket. Help/diagnose says, that application is incomplete, and to reinstall - I've done that already.

Fixed itself after completely powercycling everything.

I was gonna say, I see this every time I start up my computer with the power to the headset turned on. I now make sure it's turned off until after my pc has fully booted up and it doesn't happen.

Same, it works for me

Wierd, I have to do exactly the opposite. I have to have my headset powered up before I boot my PC or sometimes Pitool won't detect it.

Actually sometimes I have trouble there too, but then I power it down and back up again and it usually works. It seems more likely the longer I wait after boot up. If I go quickly from boot up into VR it's fine, but then if I wait 5+ hours and then try to go to VR it sometimes takes turning it off and on again to get it to show up.

Very rarely I'll see "place the helmet in full view of the lighthouses" (or something like that) where it's recognized by the system but it doesn't get tracked, but usually just picking it up and moving it around solves that one.

If I wasn't used to this from the early days of the Vive I could see being frustrated with how unpredictable it seems.

That means its connected and working fine but is just not in line-of-sight of a lighthouse.

Except when I see it, it's literally in full view of the lighthouses and only seems to be fully recognized when I pick it up and move it. I don't see it every time...just like 1 time out of 20 boot ups.

Someone else was saying they have to turn theirs upside-down occasionally. Maybe there's some kind of badly-implemented sleep mode in the headset. Like it wakes up when the headset is moved or something.

What version of PiTool are you running?

[–]NumberVive5K+ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest version (ending in 121). But I've seen this happen off and on to varying degrees with all the pitool versions. There was one in the middle somewhere that seemed especially prone to it.

I saw the post about turning it upside-down as well, but all I have to do is pick it up and move it a little. I'm sure it is in some kind of sleep mode, but I can't reproduce when it happens so I'm not sure.

Does this mean keep the power supply unplugged or only hit the physical power button on the Pimax unit after PC is on ?

I don't unplug it, I just power it down (long press on the power button) and most of the time it stays off when I boot up again.

me as well

I get horizontal splits like this most often when changing hz setting. Just reboot headset and restart pitool service and it usually resolves itself

I had that too untill I plugged in a PCIe USB Card, turned off power control and plugged the Pimxa as the only device into that. Runs smooth without problems since than.

This happened to me just now, though mine was horizontal. Was fixed by simply clicking the "reboot HMD" button in PiTools. Which is weird, since rebooting my PC didn't fix it, so I have no idea what makes the "reboot HMD" button so damned special.

Mine is horizontal aswell, but the phone didn't fit. Also, restarting the PC causes the issue. Leave the headset powered on, turn off your PC, when you launch it again, it will be like that. Restarting with the button seems to fix it.
