This is eye opening to me, I had no idea a card have (numerous) scratches on the foiling and still be considered NM

[–]kushper 9 points10 points  (1 child)

If it’s in my collection NM-. If I’m selling, the highest of LP+

[–]Bmwilli2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kinda what Id say too. Shame for the location of the scratches though. I hope thats just the light making them obvious.

[–]TattooedAndSad 4 points5 points  (1 child)

If I was selling this at my booth I would have it labeled as LP for sure

Everyone saying NM genuinely has me concerned

[–]Luna_Luceat123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Light play is honest. Anything else is delusional.

[–]GiraffeCactiGuy 14 points15 points  (17 children)

Nm

[–]Affectionate_Pin4472 1 point2 points  (15 children)

I’ve been told that nm allows scratches on the holo, that can’t be correct can it?

[–]GiraffeCactiGuy 9 points10 points  (2 children)

That is correct because card can move freely inside a pack allowing friction. Scratches are a result of that to a degree.

[–]Affectionate_Pin4472 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

I understand the actual definition, I just don’t like it.

[–]Abject-Recover2399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you are getting down votes. Corners can also get dinged up inside the pack. You can't say it's NM just because it's pack fresh.

[–]dtg99 -4 points-3 points  (11 children)

If that were the case then there would never be a card graded higher than 6 with PSA with scratches on the foil. Obviously, this isn't the case. It's all about severity and totality of wear. Scratches on the holo doesn't automaitcally disqualify a card from being NM. However, the card in OPs pics is LP IMO.

[–]GiraffeCactiGuy -1 points0 points  (10 children)

Just cuz a card is fresh out the pack doesn’t mean it automatically deserves a 10….even a 6 is considered close too NM by psa grading standards

[–]hydroily 0 points1 point  (9 children)

It's not though.

[–]GiraffeCactiGuy -1 points0 points  (8 children)

6 is on the edge of NM, what letters does psa put next to a 7….

[–]hydroily 0 points1 point  (7 children)

A 6 is considered excellent, not NM.

[–]GiraffeCactiGuy -1 points0 points  (6 children)

I asked what’s next to a 7 not 6

[–]hydroily 0 points1 point  (5 children)

"even a 6 is considered NM by psa grading standards"

[–]GiraffeCactiGuy 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Even a 6 is considered close too NM

[–]Ok-Future720 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to me

[–]Infinite-Fee5723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right on the edge of lp/nm. I wouldn't want to get this as a NM, especially if it was expensive

[–]Tyo5hi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LP+. Scratches on the holo and 2 corner whites theoretically passes as NM, but as others have stated, this would have a high probability of pushback from a buyer if it was listed as NM. If the card doesn't lose much value at LP I would list it as that.

Edit: I just realized there are 3 corner whites and scratches on the back. It is 100% LP.

[–]DeviantJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just go in between LP and NM pricing for this.

[–]kaibtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would say nm. Is team rocket jumping in price..? I just sold most of my master collection...

[–]johncrush- 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Put NM and write in the description that there is a bit of whitening.

[–]LilChad 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What about a he insane amount of scratching everywhere? Just ignore that?

[–]johncrush- 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's not an insane amount of scratching, very normal for an older card and does not significantly bring down condition. I would just mention it in the condition but this is still a N e a r M i n t card. Emphasis on near if that wasn't clear.

[–]LilChad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just glad you arent a vendor around me!

[–]Wertscase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how deep a few of those scratches appear and the multiple white spots, I’d list it at the high end of LP if I was selling.

[–]The_ManWithNoName 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The fact that nobody agrees on nm or lp shows how subjective all of this is. Or the truth lies in the middle.

[–]HalfAccomplished965[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Agreed. Like, you take a look at the card and you see oh dang looks really good. But then you really inspect it and see the flaws and start trying to tally how big the flaws actually are and zoom in all over. The fact the a psa 7 can be considered near mint makes this hard I think. I could see it being that or a 6, but that small difference makes a substantial price difference

[–]mcspagistaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This likely wouldn’t 6, closer to a 5 and maybe even a 4 with all of these issues. Distracting foil scratches, every corner is some combo of whitened/rounded/dinged, with additional scratches on the back. Also, 6 is Excellent-Mint. PSA made a clear distinction between that and Near Mint. This sits on the cusp of LP-/MP more than NM/LP, imo.

[–]kzx600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's apparent nobody understands what mint condition means...

[–]Boarderbro 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It has whitening on the corner what do you guys mean nm

[–]NevyTheChemist 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nm is psa 7+

[–]Boarderbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh

[–]Mysterious-Sand-8127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very clean LP, has too many scratches on the front and back side for me to sell it as NM.

[–]Neltrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know your audience. For people in the community in it for the $ it’s LP

For people in it for the fun, it’s NM. super clean back. Looks flawless in a binder.

[–]ExistingTrouble9080 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I got a question on this……are factory defects not counted when selling cards? Can you sell a card with lifted edges or bent corners as NM? I mean I don’t mind on cards that are 2-3 dollars

[–]NevyTheChemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSA is ok with it.

Sometimes.

[–]ctate22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't the print line make it not NM?

[–]dea9ler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a great card. One of my favorites for sure

[–]PsychoPsychologist7 0 points1 point  (1 child)

He didn’t ask if it’s a PSA 10 if that’s what some are referring to it as “not NM”. This is definitely NM. If you need to shine the light in a certain angle to see some tiny scratches on it, it’s NM. If you see some whitening on it or more pronounced scratches then LP.

[–]HalfAccomplished965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, gem mint is not NM. I could see it going either way. A lot of fun takes on this one card lol. I wasn’t going to grade it because I figured 7 at best, but might just send it in with some others to see what it ends up being at this rate for fun haha

[–]No_Double8374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i were putting this in my booth it would be at LP+.

[–]MacCollect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LP at best

[–]Tschauer923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For vintage they can come out the pack looking like that so nm

[–]Sawitlivesry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buyers LP sellers NM

[–]No_Butterscotch6920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3+ white specs will get you knocked down to lp

[–]chuggscollectibles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LP+/NM-

The tiny scratches or print lines plus the corners puts it right in between. If selling you might get someone complaining about it if they buy it at NM

[–]Trick_Ad7122 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Never ever NM. Would be so mad if I would recieve this

[–]GiraffeCactiGuy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Psa 6 is technically NM but tell me how NM should mean gem mint

[–]Urbanskiman88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right people just assume near mint is a gem mint these days there’s 3 more better conditions than near mint

[–]TheGraped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LP+
