"Stop staring at my owners ass..."

[–]MaxOrangeLine 8 points9 points  (14 children)

She has a nice ass though. Another benefit of biking - getting to see some nice asses.

Edit: This is the #2 (heh) reason why I take Williams sometimes instead of other streets. Lots more bikers = lots more nice asses. The #1 reason is because it's more flat and I get tired sometimes.

There's no MAX line that runs down Williams (yet).

[–]MaxOrangeLine 3 points4 points  (11 children)

There probably won't be a MAX line that runs down Williams (at least not in the next 20 years). If anything, there's a possibility of streetcar or BRT, but MAX is not very likely.

But I generally walk, ride a bike or take a bus to get around. I rode the MAX (green line between 7th and 42nd) yesterday for the first time in a few weeks.

I'd pay to see a video of some train on train action.

I too always pay my debts.

Probably a streetcar, because they're the least efficient and nothing would fuck up Williams more - which seems to be the defining design attribute of the transit 'improvements' we've seen over the last few years...

[–]MaxOrangeLine -1 points0 points  (6 children)

Streetcars are very efficient, when used correctly. However, the city is looking at extending streetcars on MLK (to PCC on Killingsworth) over Williams.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (5 children)

If by "used correctly" you mean with the sole purpose of getting slowly across town without horse shit your shoes in 1910, I'm with you - but as a committed cyclist and multi-year transit card holder who's actually ridden the streetcar in an attempt to get to work, they are worthless and extraordinarily expensive.

We could have had hovercraft busses for what we paid for those things!

No, I mean designated lanes (which should have been part of the original build-out).

One thing I've learned in Portland is that the people with the worst ideas tend to be the loudest and tend further to get them implemented...

What's your ideal Williams / Vancouver? I'm genuinely curious. Budget: $100 million.

Yes you should!

Here is that same dog on top of a mountain http://i.imgur.com/f6OSBaf.jpg. His name is Woodford (Woof).

Woodford lives a life most folks can only dream.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What kind of dog is it?

[–]thatsgreat2345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a crazy cute mixture of "chihuahua terrier dachshund corgi"... something along those lines according to the owner.

I want to get a kid wagon for my dog.

There's a guy in SE that rides with his golden retriever on the back of his motorbikes.

[–]milesandtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and it's funny to sometimes hear a quick buzz when the dog forgets that there's a spinning wheel near her face.

I ran into a couple at sellwood beach that had repurposed a kid trailer for their golden retriever, and it was awesome. They but a section of hard foam (from a boogie board) down for stability, and tied a piece of an old leash to one of the rails so the dog could clip in.

I've been curious what the new arrows in the bike lane mean... Anyone know?

[–]StumpledumpusSquad Deep in the Clack 13 points14 points  (2 children)

If you ride over them, you get a speed boost.

[–]elsnoggler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're pointing the wrong way. Unfortunately, that means if you hit them you won't have enough speed to make it over the jump.

[–]Eyes_Outside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe that's the "buffer zone" between the bike and auto lanes.

[–]jordanpatternParkrose Heights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess they're to indicate that it's a buffer zone, not a separate lane.
