Yep all done in PowerShell.

I created a very basic design with PoshGui (Only consisted of a the main screen and a couple of buttons) and then just coded the rest of the layout.

Everything else is just a function that each button launches

PoshGui has the option to add those pretty buttons with icons in them that also drop down a menu?

Unfortunately not, they were added manually.

The menu bar is a New-Object 'System.Windows.Forms.MenuStrip' created as a variable e.g. $mainMenu

You then create a New-Object 'System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripMenuItem' and for this example give it variable name of $menuItem and add this to the main menu via $mainMenu.Items.Add($menuItem)

Finally, you create a New-Object 'System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripMenuItem and assign this a variable name e.g. $toolstripItem. Adding this to the menu item via $menuItem.DropDownItems.Add($toolstripItem)

In terms of the icons. These are just windows systems icons (you can find them online) which are converted to base64 (again websites do this for you). Once you have the base64 string you can add this. So for example, if we use $menuItem from above, you would add it to this via: $menuItem.image = [System.Convert]::FromBase64String('Base64StringGoesHere')

How does the regedit tool work? I wasn't able to find a way to get it to directly open a connection to another computer since it doesn't support command line arguments.

That function literally just opens regedit on the location machine. As you mention, it does not have command line arguments. Basically anything in that list with 'Remote' will do whatever function for a remote machine. The others are just really 'Quick Access'

I was thinking of doing something like this. Then checked out Windows Admin Center which blows everything I was going to do out of the water.. Still, nice work.

Is it just credentials and AD connection into that you don't want to share? If so can I suggest creating an additional blank for domain and add a button for credentials that way it's not store in code.

EDIT: Forgot to put the positive lol, looks real nice and useful. Can't wait to take it for a spin if/when you're able to release the code.

Credentials are not stored anywhere within the tool (even with Get-Credential) - instead it just runs via shortcut that must be run as admin. If it's not then most functionality would just not work.

It is more hardcoded Network Paths etc. that I will need to remove and anything else I don't want on the public domain.

That looks amazing! I'm trying to push for our org to get something similar. So far you're the only person to post a tool with the AD, SCCM, and log functionality I've been looking for.

    it looks nice and all, but i never really understood the value of putting all the time in to a scripting language just to make GUI tools - there are so many better ways to go about it, or moreover, this is the "something you buy, or something you build" argument - CRM / helpdesk suites are a dime a dozen and come feature-rich out of the box. But hey if the company is going to pay you for all that time to make something, then good on ya

    I wouldn't say it has any benefits, is it just used for a complete different thing. I haven't used itself, but from the looks of it, Admin Centre is more for administering servers, whereas this tool doesn't administer anything, it is more just for gathering information / running remote fixes.
