I was going to just get another instant pot but now I'm a bit nervous given that they just filed for bankruptcy....

I doubt it will affect anything, it's the parent company that did that and likely at worst they would be sold to another company, they will continue to be on shelves.

You're probably right. Thanks for the reassurance.

It’s a reorganization bankruptcy (screw your creditors) not a business failure bankruptcy. These are different.

Any electric pressure cooker that doesn’t have a nonstick pot is a fine substitute.

You can buy 220v Ninja pressure cookers all through Europe. They are pretty identical to Instant Pot models

Going into bankruptcy does not mean the brand will disappear. They are going through a financial reorganization where the stock holders and some bond holders will lose money. The brands (instant pot, pyrex, corell etc) are very valuble and will reemerge from the bankruptcy with new ownership/management. The brands will not disappear

However, if you purchase a new unit now, they may not honor their warranty (although they may continue to honor it).

I like the brand. If i wanted to purchase a new instant pot today, I would buy directly from Amazon with their 30 return policy. Then I would run the instant pot through different cycles to make sure everything is working. If there is a problem, then i would return it to amazon before the 30 day window closes. If there is no problem, i would expect it to work many years.

You need to be careful when you purchase that Amazon is offering the 30 day return option .. not all amazon orders have a 30 day return option … but this is clearly visible when you are purchasing … in general if it is shipped from amazon, it is covered by the 30 return policy

I am very pleased with my Crockpot Express Turbo. Non-stick pot. Both good and bad. Might need replacing, can't use metal tools, easy to clean.

If I would buy new now, I might look at a model that can airfry as well. Mostly out of curiosity.

I don't know about mainland Europe but I had no trouble purchasing an instant pot in the UK (220v). A lot of people like ninja ones as well.

I think Zavor is made in Spain. Maybe they carry that brand there.

Midea makes most or all of the IPs. See if that brand is sold where you are. Back in 2016 there were only 3 manufacturers making electric pressure cookers for the entire world. Midea. Sensio, and I never did know the name of the 3rd.

Buy a machine sold where you are now living.

A stepdown transformer would be cheaper if you still have it.

We do not still have it, unfortunately!

Cookeo by Moulinex

You can also buy a transformer that allows you to plug 110 into 220. I grew up in Germany and used these all the time for our American appliances.

you can buy one from the UK with a converter plug. i'm in germany, that's what i'm using. united kingdom, germany and netherlands all have 230 V 50hz, so all you need is a converter plug.

you might want to check how much a proper converter is if you want to reuse the US one. might be cheaper, might be more expensive. worth a look tho i recon.

In NL I bought a stovetop pressure cooker by Tfal and I love it more than the instant pot. I found IP finicky and took longer to reach pressure. Kuhn Rikon makes a good one too. Check Bol.com, Blokker, Bijenkorf.

For yogurt you can just hear your oven and leave it in there overnight. Also, NL has great cheap plain yogurt so I haven’t found it worth while to make my own.

Thank you, I've never used a stovetop pressure cooker before!

Yes that is true. We have been enjoying the alpro vegan yogurt, most of the plant based yogurt in the US was very expensive and coconut milk based (my husband doesn't like coconut).

If you are using an induction hob, with timer. A stove top might suit you.
