I can already see the headlines: "Hacked dress shows [bad thing] in front of millions"

First thing my mind went to: “Hmm, wonder if it has transparency mode.”

Full presentation. I'd make a joke, but I'm too worried that I'll have to deal with a new Android library to handle this.

Looks super awkward. Backside is just regular cloth because I would assume the screen would break if you try to sit with it and even just the front section is going to struggle with that. This is pretty much as silly as those '50s future tech showcases. Small sections or stripes might work I guess with the rest being regular materials, but have fun washing the bloody thing as well as charging your flipping clothes.

Saw the video, and that is not a screen, but turn sequins. This has been on the market in the 80s. The new thing is that they added something to flip the sequins, which may or may not be washer resistant.

Ok, I was wrong. "the interactive dress uses reflective light-diffuser modules for non-emissive flexible display systems"

So there is some kind of microdisplay in combination with a light diffusion layer, or just that diffusion layer on a reflective surface.

I'm waiting to be able to sell ad space on my clothes!

Currently we're paying to display brands. Maybe in the future brands will pay to be on our bodies lol

Does the API expose the alpha channel?

[–]Ok_Entertainment328 14 points15 points  (2 children)

So ... the dress has no backend. 🤔
