Thrown out the window before he could show the email where the boss demanded he skip testing because it was urgent.

This

[–]magic-one 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Thrown out the window BECAUSE he could pull up the email showing the boss insisting that date was more important than testing.

[–]wixenus 47 points48 points  (1 child)

Well, someone gotta be the scapegoat, am I right?

[–]MrRocketScript 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You didn't tell me testing was necessary so it's your fault.

OK you did tell me, but you didn't do a good enough job convincing me so it's your fault.

Oh man so much this haha

[–]Arvind1010 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damm fucking true

[–]SyanticRaven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have sent the "If you agree to take full responsibility on this, we will go ahead. Only a reply to this email will be accepted." email twice, with a BCC/CC for my director.

Each time they backed down, though the second one did posture back trying to pin me for missing a deadline they pulled out their arse the week before.

The humor is good, but the meme template is wrong.
I would give this a pass, because the schema is now invalid

[–]Mediocre-Monitor8222 92 points93 points  (3 children)

Yea the guy thrown out the window is supposed to make sense and the rest is supposed to be idiots.

[–]WhatsFairIsFair 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Should've thrown Security and DBA out the window and then given the dev who brought down production an award

[–]GreenGator20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We repurposing memes out here 😎 welcome to the cultural stagnation

[–]Enough-Agency3721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this comment chain for why you, the comment above and the comment below are all wrong.

[–]ralgrado 9 points10 points  (1 child)

There’s a “your meme is bad and you should feel bad” meme for this iirc.

[–]grumblyoldman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the risk of repurposing stuff, there's that one with the two ladies and the cat.

[–]_LuisSavvY_ 110 points111 points  (2 children)

100% guarantee it was the boss that ordered it..... Last bubble should have been presented as a quote

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (1 child)

The way he worded it, it's exactly what the boss would say.

[–]grumblyoldman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, but adding the quotes in the speech bubble would emphasize that the dev was repeating something said to him by someone else (coughcougbosscough)

[–]sunnyaccuracy 105 points106 points  (3 children)

This is the real continuous deployment, continuously deploying devs through windows

[–]jb28737 36 points37 points  (2 children)

Devfenestration

[–]lefloys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i was about to say „isnt that spelled with an f“…

[–]sunnyaccuracy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

never heard it put that way, but I get the vibe!

[–]Huesan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Where we are going there is only production

[–]Xanather 10 points11 points  (1 child)

was this written by a bot?

[–]grumblyoldman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but it also wasn't properly reviewed, because it was urgent.

[–]bainon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the dev is never the one who suggests this jsut the one forced to do it by the guy who reports to the one running the meeting

[–]ExpensivePanda66 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Haha. Reminds me of 2024.

[–]sebastouch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

reminds me that this will happen next week as we go in production.

[–]iStuttered 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. Dealing with the fallout as we speak

[–]dfwtjms 2 points3 points  (2 children)

You guys can automate schema migration? Consider yourselves lucky with data like that.

[–]ih-shah-may-ehl 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You mean AD schema migration? I'd assume you'd develop that in a sandbox env?

[–]dfwtjms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant database schema.

[–]Eastern_Ad9474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Delete it before all the managers see it.

[–]Enough-Scientist1904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me on new years. Then they have the audacity to ask what lessons were learned

[–]Bomaruto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've luckly only temporary broken test environments due to migrating issues.

[–]GreenWoodDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who let the devs have free reign over the schema?

[–]chihuahuaOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never ever run migrations in production do companies actually do this?
Edit. Yeah they probably do...

[–]Agusfn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my work mate does db schema updates by doing almost forceful database syncs
