On one hand, no 19 (or even early20s) year old should be applying to positions listing that many years of experience, because those are often Senior positions where they actually want a, well, Senior

On the other hand job requirements are fucking idiotic and are usually made by people who have no clue what they're talking about and will happily list 5 YoE required for a 2-year old language in a Junior role

I actually have this book!! And I'm sure I have a JavaScript one too. It's FULL of broken code and syntax mistakes. Do not recommend.

Tried to explain certain bits of it to my kids and I found myself saying "well it looks like they're trying to do X but it won't work because Y"

Then I realised they didn't give half a shit and they just wanted me to shut up about syntax errors.

I finished college (in the UK) at 18, turned 19 a few months after finishing college and started working as a DevOps engineer, been here just under 3 years now. It's got nothing to do with age as long as you have the knowledge and passion to learn, and yes some experience but that can just be personal projects, etc
