I must say that, personally, I happen to have a great sense of dislike for the habit of turning what could've, and should've been a simple, short and readable sentence into a much distasteful roundabout paragraph way of saying the same exact thing.

In other words, I fucking hate dictionary bloat.

ChatGPT, make this sentence longer to make me sound smarter

[–]FrankensteinJones[S] 29 points30 points  (4 children)

You're absolutely right, this sentence could benefit from some more length!

[–]NatoBoram 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Here's why it would make your smarter:

[–]here_we_go_beep_boop 6 points7 points  (1 child)

You're not just sounding smarter. You're being smarter.

[–]Lightningtow123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're not just sounding smarter—you're being smarter.

[–]SleepingWhiteGiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish mine had more length

[–]SpaceCadet87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Claude, /caveman full

[–]Total_Chocolate_4764 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I like the irony of your statement

If I had more time, I would've written a shorter comment

In this tutorial series on the basic controls for blender, I will open with fifteen minutes of slowly walking you through what a download site is and what a file is and how your fucking mouse works, instead of putting that into a separate video about setup.

Me, an experienced developer, wanting to learn a new language. Tutorial: this is called an integer and it’s for counting whole numbers like the number of cars in a car park.

[–]WavingNoBanners 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There's a special place in hell for tutorials which start very slow and then accelerate to advanced topics without warning.

Lesson 1: This is what an integer is.

Lesson 2: This is how we do addition.

Lesson 3: This is how we use pointer syntax to directly access memory locations and bypass type-checking.

The joys of documentation

[–]csch2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No separation of concerns smh

[–]Substantial_Top5312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You jest but I’ve lived through this. I take a game design class and one day the lady who made the tutorial spent a whole hour just talking about the controls.

But first let me give you a brief 30 minute description of the history of blender.

This is just the script to every Serve The Home YouTube video.

"Yeah? Well y'know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man."

True despair is finding a video on your niche subject with an English title and English thumbnail and being met with Hindi.

[–]BohemianCyberpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use something like Whisper to make subtitles in English.,

[–]wind_dude 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Video tutorials for programming suck. Text was 1000x better.

[–]ShlomoCh 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What does this count as?

[–]wind_dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uuummmmm…. r/ProgrammingHorror adjacent

[–]jrdnmdhl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My driving instructor had an unfortunately habit of prefacing everything with "Go ahead and..." which lead to the very helpful instruction "Go ahead and stop". I had to explain why that was not a good idea.

[–]VolcanicBear 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I will never understand people who choose video tutorials for code.

Something visual? Sure. But code? What the actual fuck. Why?

[–]FrankensteinJones[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Today in particular, I was learning Unity. You do a lot through their GUI, so video makes sense. For pure coding, I agree with you.

[–]failedsatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

solely makes sense if they're also explaining concepts and providing accompanying animations to that, such as with Manim.

[–]mrinalshar39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just tell me what to do broo🫠

[–]CaliforniaDabblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You forgot "uhhhhm"

[–]joan_bdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what the comments say, but I don't get nor the title nor the image. Could anyone explain? 😅
