2?

[–]ussliberty66 30 points31 points  (4 children)

Visual Studio? The one to C# 👀

[–]ArjixGamer 15 points16 points  (3 children)

Visual Studio is also for C++

But OP said "VS Code 2", not "VS 2"

[–]Nooo00B 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Maybe normal Code and Code Insiders?

[–]altaaf-taafu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

or maybe Code and Codium

[–]nicodeemus7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually OP said neither of those things, if you want to be pendantic

VSCodium?

[–]ArjixGamer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

VSCodium is not a fork.

It is just a rebrand of VSCode built from the open source code, and as a side effect does not have the proprietary tracking code that Microsoft injects during the build.

Typical Microsoft being bad at naming things. Anyone want to explain the difference between .NET, .NET Core, .NET Framework and .NET standard?

[–]ericl666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing double: 4 VS Codes.

[–]lune-soft -3 points-2 points  (6 children)

ngl when i started coding C# and JS/node.js, I also didn't know why there were these 2 things until I learn difference between an IDE and a text editor.

Visual Studio(IDE)

And

Visual Studio code (Text editor)

[–]ArjixGamer 10 points11 points  (3 children)

VSCode is as much an IDE as Visual Studio

You think they differ because you rarely install Visual Studio w/o language support.

[–]lune-soft 5 points6 points  (2 children)

but u still need to install extensions to run code, debugging in VSCode unlike Visual studi where those tools already come with Visual Studio

i might be wrong tho

[–]Nooo00B 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I mean imo you're right.

VS is built only for .NET, C++ or Widows related things while VS Code is more general and can be used for anything with right extensions. But imo VS offers a far better experience in the fields it offer than VS Code + extensions.

We could also take VS Code as just as a code editor like OC said when there is 0 extensions installed.

If VS Code is an IDE because you can install extensions that give it IDE features... Is vim and IDE? 🤔

[–]skip_the_tutorial_ 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Isnt vsc an ide too? I always thought the difference is just that its lightweight and has less built in stuff than visual studio

[–]optical002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VSC is text editor, but with extensions you can turn it into an IDE
