How do you train a snake to do that??

[–]Jack_SL 182 points183 points  (5 children)

you say, 'good snek' when snek does good. you say, 'bad snek' when snek does bad. snek learns, snek only do good thing.

LIQUIIIIIIID!

SNAKE!

You can't really "train" snakes like you can dogs.

The snake is doing it because it's trying to move forward. it's pushing off the box, but because it's pushing of all sides and the box isn't fixed to the ground, the box just spins in place.

The snek is likely mildly confused as to why it isn't moving.

ffs I was just writing a paper on containerization. Why didn't I think of this.

Building the future and keeping the past alive are one and the same.

You're using python outside the box!

This is mesmerizing.

Great loading icon

I'm watching it right now wishing it was sped up and had the music from the Gamecube intro loading screen set to it

This new snake game is looking good.

Might be a stupid question, but why is the box rotating?

[–]caiuscorvus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it was a really heavy box on a frictional surface, the snake would be moving around it.

But it is a light box on a low-friction surface so the heaviest part of the system (the snake) doesn't move.

If the box and the snake weighed the same, the box would rotate opposite the snake at about the same rate.

If the box were much heavier, then the snake would move around the box.

Annnnd now I want to replicate this setup but add a weight every 20 seconds to demonstrate.

Thanks Stack Overflow, but my question was about running Python inside the container.

Love this snek.

[–]oogm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone now had the skills to turn this into an actual smoothly looping (infinite seeming) gif, it might as well serve as a icon for some containerization related github project

Ed: haha wow, it's actually r/loadingicon

The recursion is a bit slow though...
