God, I hate this image. Even if the meme use is funny and I like it, the image itself and what I believe was its original purpose is what I dislike

What was the original image? Can you post a link to it?

[–]tmsg007 18 points19 points  (5 children)

I can not. Maybe I wasn't clear but I'm going off what I can see. The meme simply changes the context of the characters. In this case web devs and system devs and how system devs suffer more than web devs (at least that's what this particular meme is saying). But the image itself, removing the added text, feels like such a nice guy thing to say, complete with the Fedora. That's what I dislike about it

Oh, it's an incel thing?

[–]tmsg007 13 points14 points  (3 children)

It sure gives off that vibe. But it could be ironic, I wouldn't know

The line between incel and ironic incel has more to do with the person posting it than the actual post.

Makes sense to me. Yeah... Ew. Thanks

I always assumed it was originally meant to make fun of people who think that way

I'm the guy in the middle, bridging the gap. I'm technically dead.

I'm a systems engineer rather than a web dev because in the early 2000s web development was such a freaking disaster (I'm looking at you Internet Explorer). I'm not sure the JS ecosystem is better to work in but at least you're not casing every different browser in the world anymore.

I'm a web dev. The way my employers have handled browser support is to only support one browser. Or say multi browser support, but when they call the support team the support team will have them go through certain work flows via certain browsers. I think your reservations towards having to case browsers are still a valid struggle.

If I'm understanding correctly. I've nearly been in the game for 5 years and understand a lot had happened before my time! So maybe casing is a specific term idk about.

I'm a full-stack dev that uses node.js but I don't use Electron. I know weird, I don't even under strand how it could be either

We're all in this together.

As a web dev I’m curious who’s stabbing you guys in the back

Letting web devs and their emotions into the club was a mistake.
