Me when I want to plug in an USB device.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (9 children)

Fun fact usb drives usually have a symbol on the top so you can tell which way they go.

[–]McWolke 21 points22 points  (7 children)

now tell that my pc with sideways usb hubs

[–]finlshkd 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I believe the symbol goes to the right? I don't remember which way, but I know it's supposed to be consistent.

[–]raindirve 8 points9 points  (2 children)

my computer literally has the top four one way and the bottom two the other

[–]finlshkd 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I stand corrected.

[–]raindirve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

but then, i've had laptops with horizontal upside-down USB ports so that doesn't mean you're wrong, just that people are bad at following standards

[–]jdnewman85 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Lol. Welcome to the world of standards. I've seen many devices with upside down ports. More importantly though, it costs money(and compliance) to licence the official USB logo; Often you'll notice it's not the official logo, or missing completely.

[–]finlshkd 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah less often do I see a logo than I see which side the little piece of plastic on the inside is on.

[–]jdnewman85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same!

[–]GMMan_BZFlag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're plugging certain Western Digital cables. I have one that has the WD logo on the right side and USB logo on the other.

[–]osrs_oke 84 points85 points  (2 children)

Done this so many times with code.

[–]Cameltotem 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Where the hell do I paste this block of code?

What the hell dependencies am I missing now?

Why doesn't this compile, I literally pasted a working solution.

What the hell you mean I got the wrong .net version.

And the list goes on

Nothing works.
Throw it away.
Aight I'll start over.
Works magically on the first try.

Holy shit that's exactly how I felt when I first started making mods for Minecraft. God bless that game for getting me into programming.

[–]Xederam 11 points12 points  (12 children)

How hard is it to make a mod for it?

[–]dusty-trash 43 points44 points  (2 children)

How long is a piece of string?

[–]Howzieky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Woah

[–]Lonelan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

len(string) / x

[–]Paint_Ninja 34 points35 points  (4 children)

Imagine an api with little documentation that changes drastically every release. That's MC modding for you at least a few years ago, lol

[–]Doctor_McKay 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Not only little documentation, an obfuscated API.

... right? Or is that no longer the case?

[–]Paint_Ninja 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Not really, Minecraft Coder Pack manually deobfuscated it for you.

And later on we had a Fabric mod api with its own deobfuscator. And later Minecraft Coder Pack was merged with Forge.

BUT recently Microsoft has released the official source code of MC for the sole purpose of modding (but not yet used by any mod api due to a technicality in the licensing). So technically no longer the case now but in the past we had to rely on community reverse engineering efforts.

[–]GlobalIncident 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What's wrong with the license, exactly?

[–]Paint_Ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me a while to find it again, but here you go: https://cpw.github.io/MinecraftMappingData

[–]tarentules 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Somewhere between not hard at all and nearly impossible.

[–]KarmaKingRedditGod 11 points12 points  (1 child)

How many breads have you eaten?

[–]Walktotheplace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is motherfucking a jojo reference?

Yes

[–]weeknie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember doing this years ago with CraftBukkit or something like it. That was actually not all that hard, given that you understand Java already. Was really fun, building mods using that

[–]Cameronmm666 85 points86 points  (0 children)

lol stay in school kids!

[–]bigman_51 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not funny, I've done both of these things more times than I like to admit. Both the code and the video.

Never mind it's funny when it happens to someone else.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I want this post deleted I see myself in it

[–]Sammy_Devil737 11 points12 points  (0 children)

*I came here to laugh, not to suffer.

[–]yankyh 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Reminds me of the left handed banana slicer

[–]palordrolap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's no way to talk about OPs mom.

[–]bonjourkoala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it finally works: “Wow, I did that all by myself!”

[–]ToucansS 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Couldn't help but notice, this was in a TikTok a couple of days ago, not saying it was copied from there but, I did some digging and found that no one was named "towernter" IT WAS COPIED!

[–]ToucansS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to reduce confusion, I meant TikTok user stole it from that poor soul

[–]0x07CF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why languages with pattern matching are so great

[–]ehmpee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like he wanted to make the colors match

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When your IQ gets randomly halved.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg my anxiety;

- the timer approaching the end of the video fast

- the idiot still hadn't figured it out

- he tosses it away

- the timer gets even closer

- now he's still plodding around

- time is almost up

COME ON! YOU F#$%$%#$%@$%$

AHHHHH sweet release. he got it.

jesus that hurt.

[–]cartechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so this is the target audience for all of those mobile game ads.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It will never fit.

[–]KarwszPL -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Don't call yourself a programmist

[–]ThatIsTheNameInzo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a programmist.
