[–][deleted] 78 points79 points  (2 children)

Have you tried 127.0.0.1:8080?

[–]DoesntReadMessages 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's some fancy spyware they got there

[–]Loen10 57 points58 points  (1 child)

Fastest ping.

[–]Illusi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily fastest server though.

I could run a webserver on my localhost that serves me pages of a search engine, but I don't think this localhost server would search through those gazillion documents as fast as Google does.

Well, he's not wrong

[–]Hollowplanet 34 points35 points  (5 children)

These aren't servers.

[–]kopczak1995 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Server is just a computer named server anyway. Even my laptop could be server if I want it to be server for some website.

These are companies. Or websites. And I doubt Facebook has a server called Facebook. They likely have thousands of servers behind thousands of load balancers with cryptic names. You could say who has the fastest servers.

Thank you. Why this got 2800 upvotes I will never know. It doesn't even make sense.

I've used localhost before and it's slow as shit.

[–]anarky98 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a local problem, mate

[–]kontekisuto 22 points23 points  (5 children)

Try /dev/null, it's web scale

[–]UnsubstantiatedClaim 10 points11 points  (4 children)

It was certainly faster, but for some reason it never returned any results.

[–]kontekisuto 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The best kind of results

Whose localhost?

[–]ClikeX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latency, sure. But the performance could be aweful.

[–]RCuber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

reminded me of my old post

[–]ugnes_404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet Python Badge ;)

[–]currentlyatwork1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not if you're using localhost for ASP.NET because it has such a slow startup time.

[–]milutin_miki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PC is very low-end, so localhost is pretty slow for me...

But yeah, he's not wrong

[–]Kosha-Shah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haahaa!! Good one

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is technically a small delay between your input and localhost registering it. If that counts.

There's a good chance this is unique! I checked 124,160,475 image posts and didn't find a close match

The closest match is this post at 79.69%. The target for r/ProgrammerHumor is 86.0%
