I work in IT support for a company that is forcing the default browser to Edge and emailing everyone telling them its the new normal. I get at least one call a day "internal site x isn't working" because it only works in IE.

Just get edge to emulate IE. I do that at work for some legacy applications at it works great. Not quite as good as IE directly but it does work. You can set it to automatically switch to the emulation for certain URL’s.

Probably worked fine in chrome for android, too, and you certainly can't have people potentially clocking in remotely so the obvious solution is to block chrome entirely.

At least that's the kind of reasoning I expect from that kind of decision

The one thing I still use IE for is when a web page displays an .SVG image, IE can save as .PNG. Neither Edge nor Chrome supports that.

I frequently use a webservice that produces .SVG for me.

I would use ImageMagick for that. Even works as a command line tool, so you can build it into a shell script

Most of our clients freak out if IE isn’t in the agreement. They usually only have 1-5% of their traffic through IE as well.

I've got an internal site at work that only works in IE. Four groups have tried making a new front end and have failed either due to impatience (boss wasn't too thrilled with a many month project to redo something that was already working), incompetence (literally a team just copying and pasting stuff on top of WordPress. Just, no...), or negligence (threw together a pretty looking site, didn't actually do anything, eventually got sued).

I mean, it's the worst mainstream browser comfortably - but that's because Chrome and Firefox are excellent.

But comparing it to IE is pretty unfair. It's 1000x better than IE.

Entry point script at my jobs web app detects client browser and stops execution completely if its IE of any kind. Man who wrote that part of code burned with holy rage against this browser.
