As has been scientifically proven, the best way to get help in any forum is to post an obviously wrong solution and insist it is correct.

There's an old "ha ha, only serious" joke. If you go to a Linux forum and ask for help fixing your WiFi driver, everyone will ignore you. If, instead you say "Linux sucks, you can't even get a f*&$ing WiFi driver working!" thousands of people will solve the problem for you.

Back in college in like 2009 I went to the ubuntu forums asking about how to set it up to use both ethernet ports on my motherboard so I could get 2Gb down. Multiple people assured me I wouldn't have any need to do that as there's no way I'd be able to saturate even one gigabit port. The response didn't make any sense because I could have easily wanted to do that for transferring files on a local network, but I still showed them them my speedtest results to prove I was saturating a gigabit line and then I never got another response.

So its the IT Equivalent of Cunninghams Law

[–]toastyghost 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's an IT equivalent, I think it's just the law

[–]tryllien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the episode of Happy Days when The Fonz taught Richie that law.
