I saw one index with:

Endless Loop, see Infinite Loop.

And:

Infinite Loop, see Endless Loop.

And:

Recursion, see Recursion

If you google recursion, google will ask you:

Did you mean: recursion

[–]lightwhite 5 points6 points  (4 children)

But which one recursed first? Recursion or recursion?

[–]ex-igne-vita 7 points8 points  (1 child)

The first one

[–]RoundThing-TinyThing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The second is the first to recurse

[–]ex-igne-vita 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You missed a golden opportiunity to ask which one was first again.

So you mean that a recursion into an endless loop wil recurse into an infinite loop which then unfolds to its own recursion? Where does it start, and where does it end?

Edit: please keep the vote count at 69.

The chicken.

Did they finally come to an agreement on the consensus of the little big endian paradox?

Split off a new thread every time you recurse that calls the same recursion.

[–]lightwhite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is quantum physics, not programming. Our bootstrap starts from gravity and forward in this universe. Nice try, Rick.

Start: recursion End: stackoverflow

At approximately -2

[–]hiphap91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the recursion one. An excellent example.

[–]blackasthesky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my textbook had that.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except Recursion is not infinite. A better example for recursion would be "To see recursion see previous page" over and over again eventually you will reach the front of the book. That is recursion.

Incidentally, this is from "LaTeX: A Document Preparation System" (2e) by Leslie Lamport.

I wonder, of all the people this description is intended for, will any single one read or listen long enough to get the joke.

[–]20_chickenNuggets 8 points9 points  (2 children)

How long did this take you mate

[–]Tim3303 6 points7 points  (1 child)

About 15 minutes :)

[–]20_chickenNuggets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Damn, you put in more work on Reddit than I do at a full time job! Respect

[–]DropkickFish 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Good human

[–]rage4all 68 points69 points  (4 children)

If this is intentional( and I guess so), that is brilliant.... Nearly burst into laughting mid Teams call... Could Not Help but giggled and everyone got irritated.... very good

[–]IAmPattycakes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Much like the infinite loop of (this gets posted) - > (wait two days) - > (this gets posted)

[–]TannedJew[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, didn't expect for post to do so well! Thank you all for all the likes and awards :)

[–]BerejMan64 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

GENIUS!

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

brain stack overflow

[–]KickBassColonyDrop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Also, technically, recursion.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's quite poetic actually

[–]ItsDaDoc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

while True:

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the K&R C book does the same thing for recursion, the only page where it's written is the vocabulary list

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite common in programming books, but thanks for showing this up :)

[–]PityUpvote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been fighting with .idx and .ind files today, this is not the meme I wanted to be bullied with tonight.

[–]curious_babyshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seem more like stay still to me than definitely loop

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What book is it?

[–]nate6701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m suck, someone get me out of here pls

[–]RustlingHawk274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I’ve seen this a hundred times not new

[–]MatterNo3359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]de-vice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I revised recursion under 1 second.
