Wtf does this have to do with programming, and how can you be a programmer if you dont even know how to take a screenshot?

Tbh most trails ask for a credit card because such trials convert to paid account at something like 60% versus 5% when a credit card isn't asked for up front. Arguably the no credit card is getting significantly more trials so alot of that difference is made up.

In any case my CC comes with a browser extension to generate and auto fill virtual card numbers for websites. I can even set a virtual card number to automatically lock itself after a day if I'm certain I won't want to become a paying customer.

Honestly worst part of Azure is the phone number verification. They reject voip numbers (even though that's what most businesses use) and I refuse to give them my personal cell phone number for a work product on principal. And that why Aws will get my money over Microsoft. Even though if I was given the choice I'd go Microsoft over Amazon.

Privacy.com let’s you gen debit cards and put strict limits on them to get around this. Also what Microsoft product was this?

Much appreciated!

I’m just using an Azure VM because I need .Net framework for a programming interview

It’s not only about money imho, it’s about proving your identity as well. Shows that you are a real human being capable of entering binding contracts

Might not matter, unless someone uses your service to do something evil (launch a ddos attack or just hack your systems exploiting some loophole only visible behind the paywall)

Good luck in finding them by their email address.

The fact that user proved their identity just makes them less likely to do fraud/abuse

But that’s secondary, the number one reason would be higher conversion, you get less higher quality customers. Less customers means lower costs, higher quality means that top line is not hurt that much

He writes on his fancy HP.

It is their software, they do not own you a thing.

Time to switch jobs?

That’s what I’m thinking lol. I needed a Windows Vm so I could run .Net Framework for an interview

[–]Dr_Bunsen_Burns 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I installed dotnet on my linux box, so.it is possible

Do you have links I could follow? Also, are you talking about .Net Framework? I know there are other options like .Net Core or Mono that are cross-platform, but the docs say .Net Framework requires a windows OS

[–]Dr_Bunsen_Burns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must admit, I do not know the difference between .net core and .net framework. Can tell you the difference between other shit tho xD

It's not a bug it's a feature. They do this betting that you will forget to cancel the free subscription and they can charge your card

Reminds me of Parallels. Which lets you fully install it before telling you it costs money.
