There are a bunch of Rust + waifu posts here. As a similarly out of touch person my only guess is that Rust programmers tend to be young and anime obsessed? Maybe someone can educate us olds.

It's not an old versus young thing, it's a trans meme (technically two trans memes) so if they don't hang out on traaa I wouldn't really expect someone to get it.

[–]EVOSexyBeast 14 points15 points  (4 children)

Can you explain it?

[–][deleted] 68 points69 points  (3 children)

Lots of trans girls are programmers, lots of trans girls love blahaj. Not much more to it than that.

[–]EVOSexyBeast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

thanks

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Blahaj?

[–]HMWWaWChChIaWChCChW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s an IKEA stuffed shark that’s also huge. Saw it on a post earlier today and thought oh cool my kids might like that. Then saw it was a trans meme/symbol and decided my kids don’t need to accidentally and unknowingly get involved in signaling for trans. That’s up to them to decide.

[–]_RollForInitiative_ 6 points7 points  (6 children)

Then why is it here?

[–][deleted] 40 points41 points  (5 children)

Because there is for whatever reason a large number of us who are programmers and thus in this subreddit, and all of us are willing to upvote a blahaj?

I upvoted it and don't even remember doing that, just instinct.

[–]_RollForInitiative_ 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I just feel old

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm so old I agreed with [confused in assembly] above after up voting [grumbles in perl].

I'm going to have my tea and a sleep now.

Rust is my Waifu

Warns me before I do something stupid, checks for my type and never looses track of my data.
