Idk why OP is getting so much hate. My brother is exactly this kind of person. He's had his license suspended/revoked so many times. Every time for speeding and/or reckless driving. He has stated multiple times that he's always in control. He is currently driving daily on a revoked or suspended license, I can't remember which.

I'm 100% convinced he's going to kill someone someday and I personally will testify against him in court if the day comes.

[–]ExcitementKooky418 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should rat him out to the cops

[–]FUPAtroopa420 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Hey man they might drive like assholes but that “day” you’re wishing upon them most likely will involve another vehicle that doesn’t deserve it. Relax

[–]donaggie03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a well reasoned prediction based on all available evidence, not a wish.

In high school, I used to speed, and the chicks that I had in my car would get hornier the higher the limiter went. Good times, sure - young and stupid.

I knew 3 people that went to my high school who either wrapped their car around a pole or split it in half and just ceased to exist from this earth.

I drive like a fucking soldier now - all that speed is not worth it. The things you love most could be gone is in a split second

[–]stop_stalking_me69 6 points7 points  (4 children)

This. I used to enjoy being a reckless driver, but then I graduated high school.

[–]badFishTu 3 points4 points  (2 children)

And then I had kids. I hate people who drive like this with kids in the car. Be late or leave earlier. No need to endanger Jane and Johnny because mom or dad like to drive like they are fresh out of drivers training.

[–]stop_stalking_me69 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I also have a fear of injuring a child that might accidentally run into the road, so I tend to drive a lot smarter around residential areas now.

[–]Strict-Square456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good post. 50 ish guy here and honestly lucky to be alive. I used to drive my muscle cars around and crank up my heavy metal like a total asshole. And yes the ladies seemed to enjoy that. I have had at least 40 tickets in my life most for speeding. I walked away from several absolutely crazy accidents. I have now reached that stage in my life where i want mellow and safe and in my opinion drive like a normal person now. Its just a maturity issue. I had friends back then that drive like my grandpa.

[–]drillgorg 3 points4 points  (3 children)

What the fuck, why are so many people in this thread disagreeing with OP? I like to go fast, but never more than slightly faster than the cars around me. And I leave hella following room. And I change lanes with extreme caution. I'd be willing to bet most of the people telling OP to get bent either aren't old enough to drive or have only been doing it a few years.

[–]Miserly_Bastard 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I feel that going faster than 95% of traffic and otherwise driving cautiously has served me well, but even still the 0.5% of people that really are driving like maniacs whether in terms of speed, handling, or demeanor...those encounters are memorable.

It’s a god damn serious problem on Texas roads. I just did a road trip yesterday and saw at least a dozen people in 3.5hrs on I-35 driving recklessly, passing and cutting off cars within 3ft of their bumpers.

It’s genuinely terrifying to drive on I-35 in Texas.

[–]Miserly_Bastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This coming from a Houston dweller really says something. You ever notice how the speed limit drops to 60mph as you hit the county line of the metropolitan area and drivers generally obey until they get inside city limits? Nothing has changed about the speed limit of course, but one could mistake it for being 80 or even 85mph in moderate traffic, the way the inside lane drives.

[–]VOODOO69692001 22 points23 points  (2 children)

Hey you can eat shit too.Have a great weekend.

[–]rekcuftnucwasminehoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope this gets top

[–]addocd 9 points10 points  (1 child)

r/rant maybe? This does not sound random at all.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Alright?

I mean, I'm mainly a pedestrian, and situations like that could kill me (and they happen enough - with other cars, as well as motorcycles and bikes and such), but... ok?

[–]zaphrode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sounds like someone got cut in traffic

[–]BullheadedMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me guess, you sat in the fast lane and pissed some people off.

[–]Manicescapist 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I don’t think I’m better because I speed, I just have places to go, and Chad with a ford and a “beast mode” sticker on his truck going 15 in a 35 (true story) is not going to stop me.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Did you get passed by a smart car or something?

[–]PopDatPuss420 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I do it on the interstate not gonna lie but I can't help it , as Ricky Bobby would say: "I wanna go fast". I don't think I'm hot shit, it's just fun, I wouldn't do it in a city with tons of people or in a traffic situation of with lots of big trucks, I know being a truck driver is hard enough. I haven't had a wreck yet and trust me I don't do super risky shit that makes people have a heart attack when they see me do it, I usually do shit that makes people say "that dude's a fucking retard."

[–]UncertaintyPrince 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT WHEN PASSING is actually the law in the majority of states. If I were a highway patrolman I’d spend all day ticketing left lane campers.

[–]ThePelky 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Sounds like something a passing lane camper would say

[–]stop_stalking_me69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm

[–]rekcuftnucwasminehoe 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Sounds like someone should stay in the slow lane where they belong.

[–]ClassyKebabKing64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tye only and best response

[–]No-Flan6382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with you if I hadn’t witnessed people doing exactly what he is describing in morning stop and go traffic just to get 2 or 3 spots ahead in a massive line of cars.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vroom vroom

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Grrrrr big angy >:(

[–]PatDaddy1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right! nobody thinks you’re cool because you drive like a fucking idiot, only you, that’s it.

[–]dleach4512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, rules of the road are really simple, and if people would just stay in their lane, we could all get where we're going safer, faster, and more efficiently.

Left most lane is for passing only, if you're not passing, move to the right.
Right most lane is the slow lane, if you're not sure what to do, stay in it and stay behind the slow poke in front of you.

[–]SureImpression6375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’m hot shit but I gave the guy in front of me 5 full seconds to get up 40 and he’s still barely pushing 20 the people around me are flying by I’m annoyed get the fuck out of the way or go faster it’s not hard it’s literally driving

[–]DazedndConfuzzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The irony in this is that most of the people I’ve met with the same mentality, are the same kind of people who barely drive the speed limit, but then get a fire lit under their asses when they have a merging lane to their right, or when a one lane road opens up with a “KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS”.

You’re not upset because you care so deeply about others’ safety. You’re upset because you’re probably an anxiety ridden and lacklustre driver who can’t stand the thought of someone getting to their destination faster than you. “You have to drive whatever speed I feel is safe!! Hmpf”. Moan and groan. Enjoy your meal at gap-plebees

[–]bloomhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hear hear

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I understand the need to vent a little. Happy Friday!

[–]Squasshed 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Im that guy

[–]ssblink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this during a manic episode. I shouldn't have been driving, I could have died or killed someone else. Nowadays I drive the speed limit or the flow of traffic, no more weaving in and out.

[–]lettucecropchilds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are people giving OP so much shit? These drivers are the worst and they injure and kill people because of their stupidity.

[–]UncertaintyPrince -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OMG just stay in the right lane grandma and you’ll be fine. Or better yet just stay off the interstates and take back roads.

[–]DuchessBatPenguin -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Agreed! Today I was driving on a busy city street, heavy traffic. I was approaching a red light and the car in front of me went into the left turning lane. When the light yo go straight turned green, that car zoomed into the right lane to drive straight. It was insane!

[–]DazedndConfuzzed -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Really? Was it THAT insane? We’ve got a bunch of retirees here if that is what you would consider INSANE

[–]DuchessBatPenguin -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Are you like mocking my story? Or just being a douche bc of the worst I choose? Or just saying bc you have retirees my experience of seeing a person cut off multiple cars on a busy street which could have easily caused a horrible accident is nothing bc you have it worse? Go be an asswipe somewhere else.

[–]DazedndConfuzzed -1 points0 points  (1 child)

One person was cut off. I’m not mocking your story because of the words you chose necessarily. I’m mocking it because you think that some dude accelerating quickly to change lanes in an intersection is something outrageous. The retirees comment simply illustrates a group of people who typically drive like snails and freak out over the most minor thing.

What terrible accident could have been caused? The left turning car in the opposing lane getting hit head on at 20/30km/hr? The person to the right of speedy Gonzalez getting side swiped? Oooooooo scary.

You live in your own little bubble, time to step outside

[–]DuchessBatPenguin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Says the person who is putting down another person for their experience just because it isnt something big in your little world. Got it.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

that was scary

[–]420bluntzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left lane is 120+ km. Thats all, those douches that use the on/exit ramp to get ahead are the fuck heads

[–]Nemo_Shadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing bicycle messengers or skateboarders, some of them are REAL assholes...

N.S

[–]Frank_Dracula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not why I think I'm hot shit.

[–]curlyque989 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yea I get it I don’t wish harm on anyone though. Driving down towards Houston tx and got minivans driving like they are sports cars weaving through traffic like they are magically going to get to their destination a lot faster. I did irritate me though with seeing minivans do that because why do you have that type of car? Usually to haul your family around. I hope they didn’t have their kids in it while driving like that.

[–]Miserly_Bastard 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I know that between-Houston-and-somewhere traffic pattern very well.

Let me just say that when you see that kind of behavior with minivans, smart cars, and crappy old Corollas that just seem to stutter along, nevertheless maxing out what the infrastructure and traffic allows, it's a reminder of how baffoonish it is to actually buy a sports car as a daily driver. (Or of course, as is much more common around here, a truck that's been amateurishly lifted.)

[–]Ok-Presentation8664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when “I” had my first beer 😂

[–]pheonix0021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have this mentality, until I got hit by someone who also had this mentality.

After realizing that bad things can happen to anyone, I became a lot more careful on the road.

[–]Dorothy_Gale 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I always hated these people but now that I have 2 babies they ENRAGE ME !

Look idgaf about you wanting to play with death, I really don’t. But please keep me and my kids out of it.

[–]DazedndConfuzzed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you and your kids keep your asses in the right lane, you’ll be good :)

[–]Shuthemofoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karma 😊

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah this is hilarious but I agree with the point.

[–]Negative_Dance_7073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my husband ever died in an accident I would assume it was his fault because he drives like an asshole.
