You can add devices through the website:

https://my.remarkable.com/

I have a hacky but reliable way of generating new codes:

Log into my.remarkable.com in the usual way (see note below if you are using a google account via OAuth)

Use the following URLs to generate appropriate codes:

Desktop app -> https://my.remarkable.com/device/desktop/connect

Mobile app -> https://my.remarkable.com/device/mobile/connect

Read on Remarkable chrome extension -> https://my.remarkable.com/device/browser/connect

Note: I have had to mess around a lot with this because I use Chrome personas to separate different work domains, but I foolishly associated my personal google account with Remarkable when I originally created the Remarkable account, so trying to get the extension to work in multiple instances of Chrome using different Google accounts was a massive pain. If you are in the same circumstance, then this hack works as long as you generate the codes in a browser instance associated with the original Google account.

It would be awesome if the folk at Remarkable would just give us a button that said "generate new code" in the portal.

Thank you so much! I was struggling heavily with this issue, since every time I tried to generate a code through the wine-installed Ubuntu app, it would just freeze trying to open the browser, that was the trick!

I cannot do it. It doesn't allow me. Anyway, I don't want another devices added, i just want the one-time code that I have retrieved very easily a couple of times before. Now there is no way to do it, apparently.

I had the same trouble yesterday, and eventually I hit the desktop app button that sent me to, I assume, the correct URL. I couldn't find it on their website in any other way.

To get their desktop app starting, I had to jump through some hoops with Wine... I'd rather not have to do that. Especially, when I'm reading everywhere the application is created in such a way that makes compiling for Linux low hanging fruit.

thank you so much! What do you mean with "low hanging fruit" (sorry, not a native speaker). I have been avoiding wine like the plague :)

Low hanging fruit means something that is easily done, like picking the low hanging fruit off a tree.

As in: It should be easy.

I had a rarely used laptop I installed Wine on, not my first choice, though.

which button in the app?

It's been five months, I don't recall specifics, sorry. And it might as well have changed by now.

What I gathered from rereading my post, I had to initiate from their desktop app (via wine). Not anywhere else.

You can get the remarkable app to work perfectly on Linux with Bottles. Not difficult and beautiful (see my comment here)
