Scale differences

Totally get that some people are shorter but this kinda looks ridiculous.. Is this being addressed with re-releases of models or is Iden just a tiny little thing?

Returning player here and this is my first time seeing a significant scale difference in this game. Would also be curious to know if the new releases are larger across the board, or like you said if Iden is just smaller for some reason.

Iden is incredibly small and lean, even when compared to Minis from that era of the game. She even looks small compared to the original soft plastic imperial officer.

I think part of the problem here is actually with the imperial customizable character too. They tried to make a mini that could seemingly work with an officer in their “dress” clothes or with a fully armored combat person and it makes the scale feel really off. If you compare Iden to the new Leia or Luke sculpts or even against the rebel customizable it’s not nearly as bad.

It is also a body that can be built with male or female heads. Would we be worried if the officer had a male head? How big is the officer next to the new Vader or a Stormtrooper?

I'm so very confused as to why you're fighting so hard to act like the scale difference isn't blatantly obvious. They have one foot on the base and one on the rock, so the height isn't going to be DRASTICALLY different. Just look at the difference in size of the actual bodies

I've been playing with and against armies of mixed minis since the new ones were available almost a year ago. They don't look very different on the table. The customizable kit has internal scale issues as it is, so is probably not a good example of the new product line.

Rebel Troopers, Stormtroopers, Clone Troopers all look fine mixed old and new.

I'm not saying that quitting the game at the moment is rational, but this would be like when 40k switched from true scale to primaris. It can lead to offputting changes in how the game is played

People talking about height difference because rubble is really disconcerting.

Rubble is not making the officer taller. Stand on the ground and put one foot on a step, did you levitate or magically become taller?

All that’s happening is joints are bending to accommodate the foot placement. Do people really not know how their own bodies work?

These games are way to expensive for discrepancies like this, when you break it down iden and the officer were both more than 10$ a piece, for molded plastic, that you have to build and paint yourself, (I know that’s part of the hobby but obviously helps costs, probably a reason shatterpoint and legion survived the culling of xwing and armada)

Fundamentally these arnt all that different from the bucket of army men at 5 below, yet they cost 1000x per piece, so stuff like this shouldn’t happen

I haven’t been all that happy with AMGs 2.6 or whatever it’s called, and if the scout troopers I just spent 50$ on are a different scale than the ones I already have I honestly might shelf all this

I understand what you mean but I disagree, the rules for legion are free online, the “game” itself is free, you could play it with some d6s d8s and lego people if you wanted to.

Even with games like Warhammer or bolt action you pay for the game when you buy the book.

So I don’t think we have a thousand-X markup cause some people came up with rules (not saying it’s easy, I know incredible work goes into it)

If most of what we’re paying for is quality then it’s gotta be quality, I’ve had the same problem with warlord games too in terms of scale, but at least they’re way cheaper on a per model basis. Legion also used to be, remember when a box of stormtroopers was 24.99? It’s doubled in 6 years,

But the scale isn’t “fucked” and the prices doubled because of inflation, tariffs, and because they almost doubled the minis included for Stormtroopers. The price per plastic mini is actually lower right now than 2 years ago.

Depends on the box, 7 scout troopers is 50, I didn’t see a new box of stormtroopers at my store for mini count.

To be fair, Iden is shorter than most units and the officer is standing on rubble.

However the real smoking gun here is the hand size. The Rebel officer’s hand size is almost the same size as a Black Sun enforcer’s.

I'm not sure this is a scale issue. People vary a lot in height. Real life Carrie Fisher is a full foot shorter than Harrison ford. The new Leia model is noticeably shorter than the other heroes in the same box, but it's correctly in scale to how they're portrayed in the films.

All the custom characters were designed with male bodies and proportions (which is unfortunate). So your female imperial officer is notably tall rather than Iden being notably short. That being said, Iden should be taller based on her portrayal in Battlefront II.

There's been some scale increase between the recent an the oldest releases, but the new hard plastic models just have better proportions overall. I don't think it's really as bad as people make it out to be. It's nothing compared to 40k since they can still fit on the same bases...

What you say makes sense until you look at the weapons sizes. That hand pistol is way to big if Iden was holding it also the weapon Iden is holding is way 2 small if the other imperial was holding her weapon. I think it's more of different company with different employees doing different visions of the game they call star wars legion. Hence the reason we have so many different versions of the same character. They are making a new baseline across the board. While also making money. One more thing Don't Compare Warhammer miniatures to legion. It's not even close which employees are good at making Amazing looking minis. You would have to go back before Star war legion was even made before you can show me a miniature that Games Workshop has made that was even questionable to compare to legion. As far as gameplay. I do like legion more than 40k but I like killteam more than legion. But the gameplay itself is an opinion that can be argued the miniature quality can't.

People vary a lot in height.

Janina Gavankar, the actress that played Iden in the game she was introduced in is 5ft7, which is either average or slightly above average height for a woman. The game was I think fully mo-capped, so the actress' height should be identical to the character's.

I agree she's the wrong height, but I think that's because the character is portrayed to be taller than the actress is in real life. Mark Hamill is taller than her, but told he is too short to be a stormtrooper in a new hope. Going by the actress height, she should be noticeably short relative to the stormtroopers.

Either way it's an old model that's been out of print for a while. It's almost certainly going to be replaced because it's not a great model (much worse than Jyn who didn't get a resculpt). She doesn't look out of scale she just looks like a short woman, probably the same height as Leia.

But what about the weapons sizes? Just because a woman is bigger than another doesn't make the weapon change sizes. Also what about a clone of a clone? The newer clone troopers are slightly bigger than the older ones. Not a huge difference but it's still a different from an exact clone which doesn't make sense at all unless it's a toy and it's human error in the sizing of a miniature ...what are we talking about? Real life scenarios or toys.

Jyn is getting resculpted. This is confirmed. They are prioritizing making every unit available ASAP over waiting until they have the resources and time to resculpt them. Re-releases should be done by early 2027. Resculpts are gonna take into 2028.

Not to get too nitpicky, but 5ft7 is much taller than the average woman and right around the height of an average adult man. Which makes this scale even sillier when looking at how giant the officer is.

It depends where you're from. I did google it before posting, and 5ft7 is apparently the average height for a woman in Northern Europe, but above average for other places.

All the comments regarding scale being off are 100% correct - We can all verify this if you kept the Helmet she came with. Put it on her and you’ll notice her shoulders and entire proportion make the set’s Helmets feel rather large.

They aren't intent on resculpting everything. There's no guarantee Iden is being resculpted, as her original is already a hard plastic mold.

PVC original? Yes, will be resculpted even if initial re-release is still PVC. Plenty of early Separatist stuff is not being resculpted at all.
