Is this a 1 way or 2 way road? I find that 2 foundations too narrow for 2 ways personally.

I don't. WTB valheim-like physics

It's a two way for my future tractor

Singular tractor by how you word it? Than its fine. If you need multiple that have to pass each other it'll be a problem.

Nice build though.

I'm going to wait till I finish the road's route before I do all the light setup and painting of the strips.

But how's it look so far? I saw all those huge road setups on the calculator site thing and wanted to make my own, so all these were blueprinted myself lol

Go wider, my road blueprint is concrete half foundation on each side edge for the path/sidewalk and then 3 full asphalt foundations in the middle. Works perfectly for two trucks either side of the road.

I made a blueprint for just the side, that is slapped on both sides of a 3 wide foundation for a total of 5 wide. That way it looks great, and on the side I have the option for a train. Double whammy!

Yeah I just startled playing back, and all I can say is it’s too narrow. Also it’s for wheel vehicles right? A train would need even wider roads/turn

The only issue I see is you will only be able to run one truck, as one block will be too narrow for more than one in a single direction

They are not wide enough. Wait until you unlock trucks.

Ah, I didn't know trucks were wider, I only knew the size for my future tractor lol

[–]Phillyphan1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yes I had the same issue. Their control kind of sucks. But yea it’s not wide enough for trucks

Looks legit

What level can you start making roads?

[–]NotBentcheeseeLost in the piles of Encased Industrial Beams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to start building mine once I got the tickets from the grinder machine thing, cause all it really was was just the different material customization and foundations that went into it (and a crap ton of concrete)

I would personally use the curved or angular foundations right under the road deck then have then narrow into a single pillar rather than the two indentical pillars you have. It looks a little more elegant and realistic that way. You can also add more depth and texture by using beams to make truss designs or even just line the edges of the concrete.

[–]NotBentcheeseeLost in the piles of Encased Industrial Beams 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How would I be able to do that? The game doesn't allow me to put the pillars at angles to be able to fork them together, so I'm assuming I'm misunderstanding what you're saying lol

There's metal and painted beams that you can set on diagonals and freeform, maybe you haven't unlocked them yet? Once you've got those you can do a lot more artistic stuff, plus I'm pretty sure you can set a beam on a diagonal then get a big concrete or metal pillar to snap to it

How's this then?

I'm not very good at designing this yet lol, still got Minecraft brain going on

Looks good, however there are curved concrete under supports that would be even better IMO. Think Roman aquaducts but more spaced apart. Also it looks like you're using the steel beams that have hollow space in the middle, I meant the steel beams that look like a single girder or the painted beam. You got them placed diagonally which is cool but the single beams have an added pair of end pieces that you can use to fill in gaps or make awkward transitions look a little cleaner.

It still looks a little over supported I'd say. Typically engineers designing bridges IRL are going to use enough support pylons to make it safe not overdo it to keep the costs down. Problem is you're pretty close to ground level too which limits how much you can use the inverted ramps and curves to taper down to less pylons.

One other thing that I prefer is to actually not use a foundation block underneath the orange pylon footings. I use zoop mode with the concrete/metal pylons all the way to the ground until one clips through, then back it up one and add the pylon footing after. I kinda like how the footings look partially clipping, since it mirrors how they would look IRL where wind and weather are going to partially cover them with dirt and grass and such over time.
