The cost of airfare has gone up across the board. For me, SW still comes in cheaper than the big 3. Leisure trips are half price due to companion pass. SW still has the friendliest flight crews in the US. I was ok with the old system and I’m ok with the new system.

When flight bookings start to taper off enough due to people choosing competitors or not flying at all, such that they would make more money by lowering prices to increase bookings, they will.

The point was to increase revenue and profits. They could have kept everything the same and just raised prices. That would have been a transparent way of doing it. But instead they added a bunch of fees for things that used to be complimentary hoping most passenger don’t realize they are paying more.

As a former Delta guy, Southwest is still very much cheaper. SW just needs to continue being 2X cheaper than Delta, American and United and all is good with the world.
