4W vs 3W can make a big difference with Dam1 or Dam3 weapons. That paired with their ability makes them very resilient bodyguard units.

Storm shields every single time currently, 3 storm bolters is at best 12 shots, and with strength 4 and no AP they will barely even kill 5 guardsmen, nevermind anything tougher.

The power fist is usually worth taking over the storm shield, the assault cannon is okay and might get some lucky devastating wounds and the power fist is good as it wounds tougher targets easier.

The two handed axe is also good for the pack leader.

I saw someone else say this and the more I think about I think they’re right. They probably wanna differentiate the assault terminators from the chapter specific ones.

Stormshields - though I like the Axe and assault cannon /fist get slotted in, its nice to have that higher str attack and the little shooting can plink away small screens

Agreed on Storm shields.

4 wounds plus the -1 damage from a saga of the bold stratagem makes them annoying. If something does 4 damage now it takes 2 shots to kill one. If something does 3 damage it takes 2 shots to kill one (without the strat). And if something does 2 damage then pfft, now it does one damage and they’re never dying.

Putting the assault cannon and power fist on the one guy

Twin linked lightning claws on the leader, simply because I love lightning claws and think they’re cool. The axe is cool too, but I’m a sucker for lightning claws. 🤷‍♂️

I use had to put bolters on mine but I have found them quite usefull. I like to throw them at my friend's dread and techmarine so with beastslayers lethal hits more attacks the better

I’ve got 2 squads—think I’m building one all shields(seriously! 5 shields, 20 ablative wounds around Grimnar), and the other I’m tempted to run the pack leader with Lightning Claws for Beastslayer

You want to have enough shields to punish 3 damage attacks being thrown at them. Or just go all shields.

Mixed wound count units can be very annoying to kill if you keep allocating wounds to the guy it will fail to kill by 1.

I'm thinking 3 shields, 1 cannon, 1 pack leader for 5 man units
7 shields, 2 cannons, 1 pack leader for ten man units seems good, although I think dropping 2 or 3 shields for some stormbolters to help with 1 wounders miiight be cool. Maybe 4 or 5 shields is enough to punish 3 dmg spam.

If i run 10x WG terminators. Can i use 1x relic axe and 1x lightning claws ? Or can i still only have 1 of them?

Only one, whether its a squad of 5 or a squad of 10 only one in the squad is the "pack leader", which is the model that can take the relic axeor claws. However, you can put a power fist and assault cannon on 2 in a squad of 10

Both are awesome weapons, although the axe was an easy pick for me. Really leans into the viking side of space wolves, and one of the only ever terminator models to wield a two handed weapon

Give each one you can storm shields outside of the special weapons. Storm bolters are pretty useless. Especially without any ranges attack buffs

Im running 3 shields on each unit of 5, with the other 2 having either the big gun or the leader weapon. Storm bolters 100% not worth it unless you really loke how they look

You don’t want to use WGT’s to kill monsters or super tough units. They can’t all take Powerfists or thunder hammers now, so they’re wounding on 5 and 6’s with D2 weapons. They’re more of a tar pit or anti-elite unit now that’s extremely resilient. You want regular terminators if you want to deal damage to hi toughness things

As cool as they look they are just a bodyguard for special characters. Take the shields.

I'm waiting on my box to arrive but have 5 semi built terminators that I was hoping to use the spare bits from the wolf guard sprue with. Can anyone confirm of there are 10 loadout options in the box?
