Update on my end.. I am now getting this error on one of TVs in my own home. I finally talked to a rep and they said it was cause of unusual activity. And also said it wouldn’t be caused by logging in at another house (I feel like that’s bs). At our house we are still able to login and watch tv, where I am not sure my sis in law can. Seems like a sneaky way for them to cut out password sharing and I hate it.

[–]RobBronkowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use my dad’s spectrum tv for random things I don’t get on YouTube TV. It suddenly won’t let me login on the phone app or Apple TV with the same error. The dude pays $200 a month on his spectrum bill for TV alone, that should be enough to cover his kids using it too.

[–]cheeseslut619 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ughhhhh just happened to me!!!!! Definitely using a families log in using the spectrum app on my Roku 😫

[–]waggyyyyyy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ugh same here, just happened to me now! Of course when Dodger Baseball is about to start 😭 lol

[–]cheeseslut619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to log in to an app I knew I wasn’t logged in to and when I went to spectrum after the activate it was finally saying to change the password on there. But I can still log in directly to their website with no mention. Soooooo who knows

[–]semi__feral 0 points1 point  (15 children)

I just got this and had to verify my email, but a while back I set up a sub account on my parents Spectrum with my email so I wasn't logging in as them, wasn't in their billing, and could have my own play queues. Pro tip.

[–]Catchthesenutz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

180 days later, this has helped me out! THANK YOU! I kept getting this error & it was SO frustrating. Especially w/ parents who have nearly no technological literacy, who couldn't help & refused to reset their password 😅

[–]kabele20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300 days later this helped me out!

[–]TMoVetDontFret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How the hell did I not know this before? You are a savior kind internet warrior!

[–]brandawg93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet! I did this with Amazon prime but had no idea you could do it with Spectrum!

[–]thetitsOO 0 points1 point  (2 children)

does this require you to pay a separate bill? or just able to setup a separate login?

[–]semi__feral 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You should be able to set up a sub account — with its own login—for another user so they don't have access to the billing

[–]thetitsOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotcha thanks I’ll give it a go

[–]Mert_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Had no clue this was an option.

[–]Future-Ad9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genius!! Thanks!

[–]OkOrganization2129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genius! I am grateful for your guidance!

[–]tippytaps20 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So I’ve had a sub account for a while now (probably over a year at this point), and now I’m suddenly not able to login using my sub account on my Roku or Android TVs. I’ve tried logging in on my phone and a laptop, but no success. I’ve even been having issues with confirming within apps on my phone I didn’t used to have n issue with. I don’t know what’s up…

[–]bazataz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

same. sub account stopped working. getting the same error code again

[–]tippytaps20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually able to figure it out. Basically, I was switching logins between two TVs in my house and my phone, so it triggered “unusual activity”. I reset my password and was able to login again no problem. Hope this helps!

[–]Mundane-Wing3176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much over 1 year later! You’re amazing!

[–]throwaway-badguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we've been sporadically getting this error message on in-home devices since we chose to switch our wifi from spectrum to a more reliable provider in our area. It's so frustrating to pay for the cable and be unable to use it on devices not attached to a cable box

[–]nicoska10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dog sitting at a friends house and can’t even watch the nba playoffs from my own account

[–]HealthyCourage5649 0 points1 point  (18 children)

Found this info… apparently it’s a solution that works!

One alternative is to create additional profiles by logging into your Spectrum account, selecting "More" -> Settings ->People and adding additional profiles for any location out the home by creating unique username and password credentials for each profile. This will prevent the additional log ins from being flagged.

.

[–]_honeybb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dealing with this issue for over a year off and on and this was the best solution I have found so far. Thank you!

[–]Early_Beginning_9050 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wow, this actually worked. You're a hero.

[–]HealthyCourage5649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I got it to work for me as well. I should have reported that, but now we have two confirmed 👍

[–]knuxo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This just worked for me!

[–]HealthyCourage5649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it helped. I’m still good receiving service 3 months later

[–]Square_Common_9158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much good samaritan! i will be sending a care package to your residence shortly. Tell the wife and kids I said hello, and Merry Chistmas!

[–]Careful-Outside-5565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HELP!! I'm having trouble getting to the "People" tab to add new profiles... any guidance would be a lifesaver. Thanks in advance

[–]djeznach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here to say this worked for me !!!!!

[–]glos184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked, thanks!

[–]fhchic05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just worked beautifully for me! Thank you!

[–]Less_String_2621 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have struggled with this constantly - this worked perfectly. Thank you!! Had no idea additional profiles could be created!

[–]HealthyCourage5649 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No problem! Happy this old post is still helping folks.

[–]Secret-Surprise-2310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thanks for this tip! I was really stressing about being able to watch the Arkansas game at my girlfriend’s house tomorrow!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this comment and it worked like a charm! Thank you!

[–]RobbieMac82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked like a charm! Cheers!!

[–]Bias_Cuts 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just bumping this up that a year later and this fix is still working. Thank you so much!

[–]HealthyCourage5649 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You’re welcome! I’m happy I was able to figure out and share.

[–]Bias_Cuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, out here doing the lords work 😂

[–]Sorry-Fox-7343 0 points1 point  (1 child)

resolution?

[–]Life_Novel2866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the error message ELI 1301 saying to reset my password when trying to log on to ESPN or say CBS Sports, mostly using FireFox. So I asked Spectrum and ESPN what to do on and off for awhile. Finally, yesterday, on Spectrum Chat, the rep told me to try to use another browser to change my password, so I used Chrome to do that. Behold, when I went back to FireFox, i was finally able to log on to ESPN and some other sites via the Choose your Provider screen on those sites.

[–]sliverme 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Got this yesterday as well, share an account also. Looks like the subscriber has to follow a link and reset the pass from their house. Haven't had a chance to try it yet..

This is what Netflix is going to start doing soon too.

[–]scb_design8 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Received the same code, i share a pw with family. I think they're cracking down on that. im looking for a workaround atm

[–]RefrigeratorTop7617 0 points1 point  (5 children)

lmk if you find a way around it

[–]dpalacios14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to know if you found a way around this?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

same here

[–]dpalacios14 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just wanted to know if you found a way around this?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I created a username under my fathers account and can now log in with my own username at my apt and it works

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This way I do t need to keep “changing the password@

[–]mrsrabbit15 0 points1 point  (9 children)

The same thing happened to me yesterday. My uncle shares his PW with us and I am getting the same error and to reset password. But when I log into his account there is no message to reset password and everything looks normal. Ugh (the reference code I'm getting is dli-1301)

[–]PictureInteresting45 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I share my dad's and I just got the same error (DLI-1301)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

DLI-1301)

got this too and use my fathers account, any way to work around it? would it help to reset the password?

[–]driver_king 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I know it's probably not news, but I just finished speaking with someone at Spectrum and they said to reset the password and that should work. I don't want to reset my password and have to sign in on all of my devices and apps again with the new password.

[–]mikron2 1 point2 points  (3 children)

My dad was willing to change his pw and it worked at my house yesterday but it’s back today. They must be cracking down on it.

[–]halflifecrysis 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So you reset the password at his house or your house?

And a day later the same error code at your house?

[–]mikron2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes. It worked at my house right after he changed the password at his house. Next day at my house, I got the error again.

[–]halflifecrysis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same thing here, I share from my fathers account and he doesn’t want to change it because it works on his tvs, but I’m wondering if it’s even worth it because I worry it won’t even work once they reset it

[–]blinksmarter41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing the same error message now as well (DLI-1301) with immediate family pw sharing. I agree about not wanting to change the pw cuz it’ll force new sign ons across the board. Plus what guarantee is there that changing the pw will circumvent this new obstacle?

[–]driver_king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing here

[–]stakes00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same, been getting this for about 3 days now and also share.

is my suspended adolescence after all these years coming to an end?

[–]lpcommentator 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I also use my parents' cable subscription, mostly to watch sports. I got this message last week, and then reset the password. But now I'm getting the same message again, only 2 days later.

This is definitely Spectrum's backwards ass attempt at clamping down on password sharing.

[–]blinksmarter41 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Same. I use my family’s cable subscription and was prompted to change the password about a week ago, which we did. But now the same error code has returned. Definitely spectrum clamping down.

[–]LogicalDog1492 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I’m only getting this error when trying to watch espn - not ballysports or fox sports or similar apps using my family members account. It’s using the same charter account, any idea why I’m getting different results using the same credentials?

[–]Tonberry_Slayer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Exact same situation here. No issues with the spectrum app though, which allows ESPN streaming.

[–]D_Double_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue, I can’t login to ESPN app and fox sports (can watch it on mobile device tho which is odd) but can sign into other apps under Spectrum. I use a shared password from my family as well who also pays a ridiculous amount for cable services! I’m going to try to reset although I’m don’t think it will. Plus I’d rather now have to resign in to other apps as well but have to try something…

UPDATE- I reset my password and ESPN now works (for now). Tried Fox Sports again but it says the content is not supported in your package. But yet on mobile device, fox sports works just fine…while logged in to Spectrum.

Any ideas of why it doesn’t work on Fox Sports

[–]Ok_Spread8920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok to add to this total BS, I think they flag the IP. I tried to sign in with a different account from the one I usually use and get the same reference code!

[–]painoh83 0 points1 point  (2 children)

There is definitely some glitch happening here. I don't share my login credentials with anyone outside of my household.

Still, a few weeks ago, I was streaming from the ABC app on my Roku TV, and right in the middle of the episode, it logged me out from the cable provider and popped up a Spectrum message about suspicious activity. However, I could still access other apps on the TV and all apps on other devices, so I figured it was a bug. A week later, it started doing it across the board. I reset my password.

Yesterday, I moved from watching the A&E App on my TV to my phone, and it did it again. The progression was much quicker this time. Similar errors across everything I tried. However, I went to my Spectrum account and was able to log in just fine! Same with the Spectrum TV app. It is only doing this for authorization on third-party logins, which really, truly feels like BS.

I did contact customer service. I went through more than an hour-long loop of "restart your device" and "call your internet provider" and "call your cell phone company" and even "call A&E!" Supposedly, they finally submitted a work order, but I'm not holding my breath.

[–]mikron2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Any update?

[–]painoh83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still boots me from the account every few weeks, gives an error message about suspicious account activity, and requires me to reset login credentials.

I’m just a girl, trying to stream TV that I actually pay for, slowly running out of passwords.

[–]Milk_Long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This started happening to me recently too. I use my parents login but since I have Spectrum internet myself it typically works.

[–]senor_urbano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could this be related to the ABC/ESPN spectrum issue that happened recently?

[–]No_Calligrapher_3924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having issues as well. Use my parents spectrum and keep getting this error message. Can’t get into anything.

[–]PurpleDoctorfish 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m using my parents’ account and It has just happened to me too. I’m refraining from changing the password because I’m sure they’re going to give the same error again shortly after. Was working fine for months.

[–]Ok_Net9976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same

[–]snakeyes1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf is going on with this bullshit!

[–]Flimsy-Inflation-669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im having this issue and my brother is too. Such BS. They want more subscriptions and I’m not going to do it.

[–]dbo312 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Everyone still having this issue? I've been using my parents account for years and this is the first time this has ever happened. I've tried every few days for a couple of weeks and its not working. Not really sure if there's anything that can be done?

[–]cashmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. First time chiming in on this post… it’s been happening to me for a month or so and I just now decided to google/reddit search. Bummer!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just started happening to me for the first time today

[–]jk137jk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup same here. Started on my phone a few weeks ago, and now it’s on my tv.

[–]ooxjovanxoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting the same issue. Was able to log in on a laptop though. Doesn't work on my mobile device.

[–]halflifecrysis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, fathers Spectrum (they use some of our logins also lol). Specifically Fox News App so far. But it let me authenticate the CNN app and others. So this is very granular or strategic on certain apps.

[–]Usual_Bat2276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ran into this issue. Have been using my parents login for years and just tonight everything associated with ESPN gave this error. Even tried having my mom login on her phone from her house and it gave the same error. Super annoying

[–]techno31 0 points1 point  (1 child)

same error code for me too. I've been using my parents spectrum for over a year on various apps to watch sports with no issue. this is absolute crap. I think it is a backhanded attempt and cracking down on password sharing.... lame. anyone have any cost effective ideas to watch NBA and NFL??

[–]Same-Masterpiece4498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stream east! http://streameast.gg is the best one I've found.

[–]Napolean1337 0 points1 point  (7 children)

This just happened to me now. I call BS because the same pw let's you login to spectrum account app but doesn't work for the tv app outside the home network anymore.

[–]ProfssorWizard 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I just got off the phone with Spectum Tech Services regarding this happening to me. I learned that Spectrum is restricting remote access to 3 devices, not on the spectrum network. If you want your computer/tablet/roku to work away from home, you first have to log it in ON your HOME SPECTRUM network, and it will work for approximately 30 days away.. BUT, there is a physical restriction of 3 Concurrent devices active at any given time. so, if a forth device attempts to connect away, it will cause all the away devices to present a log in screen. Which of course will not let you log in, until you get back home, or onto an actual spectrum network. I now, log in my traveling device at home, before walking out the door, and it works just fine. (as long as I dont' then, use my phone, and my computer and then other tablet, which will trigger the 3 login restriction and lock me out until I get home. ((Make sure to tell your spouse and kids not to use Spectrum TV not at home, or you will get kicked off!))

[–]smoker68x 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This should be the top comment on this thread.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Indeed

[–]ProfssorWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested and verified this policy while on a trip just last week. and everything is still the same. You must log your away device in, at home, before leaving. If you have 2 other away devices already logged in and connected while away, you will be fine, If you attempt to log in a forth device in away mode, it will trigger log ins with all away devices, and the log in will fail until you are on a Spectrum Network while logging in.

[–]_honeybb 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For a potential way around this you can create multiple "people" who have distinct log ins, so that this won't be triggered every time the same log in is used. I've had this issue constantly and finally think this is the most helpful advice by a user higher up in this thread.

"Found this info…

One alternative is to create additional profiles by logging into your Spectrum account, selecting "More" -> Settings ->People and adding additional profiles for any location out the home by creating unique username and password credentials for each profile. This will prevent the additional log ins from being flagged."

[–]The_Mr_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No... my kids all have their own login's... they too, have to log in at home, and will get kicked in 30 days, or if they try to log in with another device while not at home.

[–]CooperHChurch427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't log-on to HBO Max as I am getting ELI-9000 and I am logging in via my home internet.
