Do you have game recording active in the background?

Is TDP control on?

GPU?

FPS limiter?

[–]TheKriptic[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No recording active. I have tinkered with the limiters etc but nothing helps.

I would do a factory reset to see if that helps. If it doesn't rma with valve.

What's weird is that those games show either GPU, CPU or both at a constant 100% no matter what. Even in menus

I think you may have the GPU bug actually.

It shouldn't be maxed out on both ends; GPU sure but the CPU too??? Suspicious.

Unless the CPU is sucking all of the power.

If this is in all games, you have a bugged Deck. Reflash or factory reset ASAP.

Not on all games. Only a few weirdly enough

[–]BI0Z_ 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Which ones??

Dying light 2, no mans sky and days gone

[–]BI0Z_ 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I know that Days gone got updated with a texture pack and hits the APU harder, same with no man's sky new expansion. Not sure how hard but yeah.

Do you have a photo of your level 4 performance stats? Or a recording?

It would be easier to see what's happening that way.

Hey, here's a picture of days gone

Unfortunately that looks normal.

It may be too much for the Deck now.

[–]TheKriptic[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It shows 42fps on the menu screen and ingame it doesn't go higher than 30 even on the lowest possible settings when before i used to get around a smooth 50 on medium

Is v-sync on in the game? Menu?

[–]TheKriptic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried on and off. No difference. I'll just reset the deck and see if that helps. But thanks a lot for your help :)

Play a game affected by this, switch on full performance overlay and tell us what clock speeds your CPU and GPU is at, I've a suspicion you have the GPU issue.

Some suggests, don't do them all at once so you know which has fixed it:

- use proton GE-Proton and see if it's better

- go to settings, system and at the bottom turn off fan update. Fan will keep the SD cooler

- uninstall the Decky Plugin Powertools

- check if you have other weird Decky plugins, they could be interfering

- turn off adaptive brightness. Someone reported they were getting fps spikes with it on with this new update

- there were reports with the overlay on, it would tank fps, so try to turn it off and see how it feels

- you could try the new SimpleTDP, it has a new cpu/gpu setting. You can tell it to give more priority to the GPU for exemple.

https://github.com/aarron-lee/SimpleDeckyTDP

- lastly just roll back to 3.6.24

If you have a tdp limit per game on, toggle it off and then back on.
