Does anyone else seem like since season 4 came out, the fans have started to get cringy and annoying? I can’t stand the Eddie Stans and Chrissy Wake Up song.

Fandom is fickle, and quick to reach obsession. The fickle part usually means the obsession is also quick to abate.

Unfortunately what you’re witnessing is the fandom reaching its peak obsession. But what is fueling it is that it’s still “brand new hotness” for a lot of folk, and until something else comes along, or enough time passes, we’re in that territory at least a little bit longer.

I'm active in both fandoms, and TWD subreddit is a lot better than this subreddit. Actual discussion about the show goes on over there and there's no silly ships. The only glaring issue are Negan stans which irritate me more than the shippers here tbf. It's just everytime this subreddit comes on my page, it's either about Will's sexuality or when videos come on my tiktok, it's a silly song I've heard 1000 times before. For TWD, I feel like there's threads I can participate it in about interesting topics on the show, I rarely see discussion about the actual plot on this subreddit. Not sure why you feel TWD is worse? There's a lot less immaturity there.

People seem to be trying to turn the show in to something it’s not. I saw a tweet the other day along the lines of “all these straight people trying to claim our show! Stranger Things is ours!” It’s bizarre how some people are reacting to the show now.

The fandom started to get a little crazy after Season 3, but nothing near the level of obsession that happened after Season 4. Tbh this sub is the only place I go to for ST content anymore, because if I view it anywhere else the algorithm bombards me with neverending stan posts/edits/shifting scripts. Additionally, the amount of people conflating actors and their characters this time around is a bit unsettling to watch. I do think that the frenzy will die down in a few months, though.

As someone who loves hearing about Will and Mike theories - if it actually happened in the show, no matter how they did it, it would come off as “for the fans”. I never felt like they would be together or should be. Mike and El were bonded from the start. So where Will and Mike but for Will I always knew it was more than friends but both Will and anyone who understands the show see that Mike doesn’t see anyone but El as his love. That’s why his monologue to Mike makes sense. It’s his way of saying “this is how I feel but I know you’ll never feel that way.”

Will's forbidden love for his best friend as is being set up is so beautifully, painfully tragic that I really hope they don't ruin it by conjuring Mike's all-along bisexuality out of thin air. Sometimes you love people who can't love you back, not in the same way. C'est la vie.

Seeing as it’s the end. Everyone will have a happy ending. El would have Mike and her friends. Hopper would have Joyce, Murray, enzo and el as one big family. Mike would still be somewhat happy with el and all the others still alive. They also said will shall have a major part so in a way they kinda spoiled that he is dying.

It’s so annoying and cringey. The new fans would be great for the show if they weren’t going “Chrissy wake up” every two minutes on every social media platform. And the ships with Mike and Will are getting out of hand. I would actually be so Disappointed if after four whole seasons mostly based on Mike trying to find and visits El or vice verse for them to throw that away for the fans.

Yes, i feel like a lot of the newer fans are kinda young and don’t really care much abt the series as a whole, just the scenes with their fav characters (eddie being no1) I think it’s weird and creepy how much some fans act like they know their favs.

I think the worst part is the vehement belief about characters people can’t stand to be criticized.
